The Academy’s Doomed Young Lord Dies Ten Thousand Times

Ch. 100

Chapter 100 - Origin Magic

After barely getting through a week that was in many ways like a storm, my life entered a somewhat stable phase.

I got…… should I say I got permission from Arien, Serene, Yuna, and others, or rather, I explained the situation and reduced contact as much as possible.

‘I should have done this sooner.’

Thinking about the happenings that occurred because of that…… haha.

I decided to count it as a funny experience.

Well, anyway, through that process, I somehow obtained the life I had wanted before the end of the semester. A peaceful life, even for a moment.

Eating, training, practicing magic, and going to sleep again.

It was that kind of life. Though, if you looked at it, it was quite far from a normal life.

Waking up and training, eating and training, and sleeping again.

‘It’s my schedule, but it’s terrifying.’

What could I do? Such was my fate.

I had to do so, even if it was just to avoid repeating thousands of deaths in the calamities to come.

The hardship I was going through now would not even compare to the consequences I would face for taking the wrong path.

That's why I couldn't stop.

Yes, I admit it. To be honest, it was because I was scared.

It was because I was afraid that if I didn't try, I would wander in pain solely due to my own responsibility.

It was just that.

……Well, that didn't necessarily mean my life was filled with fear.

I had quite a few people around me to rely on.

My relationships with those around me, and my growth…… although it was hard to say that changing the story of had entered a stable phase, it was true that it was on the right track to some extent.

Now. Let's stop with the heavy talk and talk about the future.

‘Regina told me to keep my time free after the end of the semester.’

The first thing I had to focus on was what Regina had said before.

-Ah, do you have any plans set after the first semester ends?

-No, nothing has been decided in particular.

-Fufu, then keep it that way.

Seeing as she emphasized this to the end and said she would be gone for a month, it seemed she had something prepared, but…… well, there was no one with as excellent a political sense as Regina. It was probably right to just wait.

‘I’m scared of the laugh she’ll burst into when she comes back.’

If Regina heard about the previous commotion, what kind of huge laughter would she show…… just imagining it made me dizzy.

Lately, she seemed to be showing her true nature to me more and more. Hmm. Should I think of it as a process of opening her heart? Is that a good thing? As the one being teased, I wasn't sure.

Anyway, the factor that would change my future course of action the most was that plan of Regina's, and the next thing to point out was…… Origin Magic.

The magic that interferes with the laws of the world, which Arien had promised to teach me.

That would surely become a great weapon to overturn the predetermined flow of events.

***

“……Are you really okay with this?”

On the day Arien was supposed to teach me Origin Magic, I asked her at our meeting place.

The reason I asked this was because of Arien's father…… or rather, her creator, Tyrion Ortega.

‘I remember him showing a great obsession with Origin Magic, no less than Albert.’

Thinking about what would happen if such a person found out that his creation was teaching magic without permission…… hmm. In my logic, it was hard for a good reaction to come out.

“It doesn’t matter.”

However, Arien cut me off like that.

“Father prefers to increase the progress of research when it comes to Origin Magic. An increase in samples is what Father would want.”

“Samples.”

If I was treated like that, well, it wasn't that I couldn't understand, but there was one more thing I had to point out.

“……And why is Professor Albert here.”

Yes. The professor of the Origin Magic lecture I took during the semester, and the antagonist of Chapter 3, Albert Eisner, was also here.

“Is there a problem.”

Albert looked at me with his cold impression and raised his characteristic monocle.

“It’s not during the semester, so……”

“Well. Think of it as a side job. Cadet Rain.”

“A side job……?”

As I tilted my head at Albert’s words, Arien added.

“Professor Albert has been researching Origin Magic with my father since before I enrolled in the academy, so I thought it would be good to get his help and invited him.”

“……Is that so.”

So there was a backstory like that. It was something that never came up in the original .

Well…… is it okay?

“In terms of theory, you can seek my advice. In terms of sensation and application, you can ask Cadet Arien for help.”

“I see.”

I readily nodded my head. Well, in Albert's case, it was true that I was a bit wary because he was a character who appeared as a boss in the original work.

However, he was a person who had turned not because of his personal ideology but simply because of his thirst for knowledge about Origin Magic, so if I could satisfy his thirst for knowledge about Origin Magic, there was a possibility that he wouldn't side with the mastermind.

‘Honestly, if he says he’ll help, I’m grateful.’

Arien's knowledge was certainly excellent, but knowing something and explaining it effectively were two different things.

Above all, when it came to the theory of Origin Magic, Albert, who had only encountered it through knowledge, might be a little more knowledgeable than Arien, who had learned it directly.

“I look forward to working with you.”

After finishing those calculations, I bowed my head and greeted Albert.

And after that, Arien and Albert’s Origin Magic lesson began without mercy.

***

“As I mentioned in the previous lecture, the basic framework of Origin Magic is the act of altering the absolute restraining force that supports the world, that is, the origin.”

Albert said, tapping the blackboard.

“Cadet Rain, you have a constitution that can produce the magic that can alter that origin on your own. You won't say you don't remember, will you.”

“Of course.”

Well, I heard it in the lecture, but…… the content I heard in the original was also etched in my mind.

Really, there was no way I could say I didn't know.

“There are a total of three sub-classifications of Origin Magic. Time, Space, and Creation.”

Time, Space, and Creation.

Just hearing them, they were words related to the composition of the world. By altering these, one interferes with the laws of the world.

“As for which branch of magic you can use efficiently with your lowly magic level…… I'll leave the recommendation to Cadet Arien.”

I felt like he just said something incredibly harsh in a normal way.

For now, I looked at Arien with an uneasy feeling.

Then, Arien naturally continued to speak.

Shk shk.

She wrote Time, Space, Creation in her notebook.

“As is the case with all magic, the amount of magic consumed is proportional to the range of its effect and the density of the magic.”

“That's right. That’s why the lower the rank of the magic, the narrower the range of its effect.”

“You’ve reviewed well. However, among these, time magic consumes a vast amount of magic because its target is the world itself. It's a level that's burdensome even for me. In other words, it's a problem of range.”

Shk.

Arien said, drawing a line through the word 'Time' she had written in her notebook. It meant there was no hope.

And she continued to speak after that.

“On the other hand, creation magic has the advantage of being able to create anything, but for proper application, shaping through high-density magic is required, and because of this, it requires magic proportional to its perfection.”

Shk.

And as expected, Arien drew a line through creation magic. It also meant there was no hope.

“Then…… what’s left is space magic.”

“That’s right.”

Swish.

As I said that, Arien drew a large circle around space magic once.

“What's left is space magic. Normally, it also consumes a vast amount of magic because its range is the entire world…… but here, we can use a trick.”

“A trick?”

“Yes.”

Shk, shk.

Arien started drawing something in her notebook again.

“A snowman with pitch-black eyes…… no, a person…… and a square surrounding it……?”

“I tried to draw Rain. Cute, isn't it?”

“……”

This girl, has she developed a desire for comedy lately? She keeps hitting me with it every now and then.

“……It’s cute.”

As I said that, I couldn't ignore Arien, who was staring me straight in the eyes, so I reluctantly played along.

The drawing was terrible, though.

“If you focus on the drawing, you can see the square centered around Rain here, right?”

“I see it, but……”

“This is a domain.”

“Domain……”

I tilted my head at the unfamiliar word. Not a barrier, but a domain.

“……Cadet Arien, in Cadet Rain’s case, since he is not from the Magic Department, there is a high probability that he will not understand the detailed vocabulary.”

“Ah.”

Arien nodded at Albert’s interjection.

And Albert sighed and explained instead.

“A domain is one of the basic units that make up magic, and it plays the role of accurately limiting the range of its effect to a certain level.”

“A basic unit?”

“Yes. In the case of the 2nd-rank magic Flame Spear, its power is maximized and magic is saved by concentrating its domain into a single point. Apply this to the current case.”

Concentration of power. Saving of magic.

With this many hints, only a fool wouldn't be able to answer.

“……It means I can only activate space magic within the designated domain.”

“Excellent, that’s correct.”

Albert nodded once and then turned his gaze back to Arien.

‘Does he mean for her to continue.’

They have a clear division of labor.

“Of course, even if you designate a domain, with Rain's magic reserves, it will be nothing more than using a weak magic within an extremely narrow range…… but I think its utility will be sufficient.”

……It was another phrase that stabbed me in the chest, but it was certainly true.

In the original , the Origin Magic that Arien used had the strongest utility ability among all the magic that appeared in the game.

An ability that allowed the use of various tricky abilities, rather than competing with simple firepower.

‘Because of this, the feel of playing as Arien was definite.’

It was magic that allowed one to lead the fight in various ways.

“Then the magic to be learned has been decided.”

“Yes. Now you have to learn it.”

Yes. The real hardship was just beginning.
