Homestead Survival

082: Primordial Flight 4

< 24 August 2024, GRAND MESA OF SUMMER, A+> [Theo and Julia] Theo and Julia looked up at the dragon, a construct of the System inhabiting the body of a dead god, and outlined what they would agree to.

"We know that we must have some kind of legacy or an agreement to deal with legacy to be recognized," Theo said, everything in the circle of blue light at a rather pleasant volume. "So we will agree to the following."

Theo looked at Julia and nodded. Indicating that she should say what she wanted. "In the next five years, we will have a child or have adopted a child and named them our heir."

Theo spoke up now. "In the event that we die without children, we would offer Go'Van' Ordus the position of heir if he wants it."

Julia nodded. "We will strive to build a strong family that will last for eons to come."

"And we will work to grow more powerful and lead Earth into this new world," Theo said.

Julia was holding his hand, and she squeezed it. The dragon was silent for a moment, and then its head whipped back forward, and another single word reverberated through the world. "AGREED."

Theo and Julia sagged as the column of light dissipated, and the roar of the storm of magical energies rushed back to the limits of the Ward runes.

Theo and Julia walked hand in hand to the Thronehold, and when they got there, they were greeted by a smiling Ordus. "Lady Brahmin, Lord Sorrenson, it is good to see you back."

"It's good to be back. I feel like I was gone way longer." Theo said with a smile, taking a relaxed breath.

"Did you detain him?" Julia asked. At that moment, she and Theo received a notification.

Theo and Julia instantly found themselves somewhere else.

< 24 August 2024, SANDS OF ARDEN'XOK, ????> [Theo and Julia] They found themselves on a familiar, skyless plane of black sand with a familiar face before them. Theo smiled. "Argo!"

"User Theo Sorrenson," Argo said, his body radiating that sense of excitement that he had rather than facial expressions. "User Julia Brahmin, it is well to see you once more."

"It's good to see you too, Argo." Julia said, "But I have to ask what is going on here?"

"Well, you struck a deal with a construct of the System." Argo said, "That is not the normal way that things are done. I have been tasked by the System to verify that all is well and to ensure that balance is maintained as sometimes the divine influence of the God-Wyrm pokes its head through despite the beast having been dead for eons prior to the System using it."

"That sounds mildly concerning," Theo said.

"It is, so I am here to verify," Argo said. "We have all the time in the world as for the duration of this conversation, the System guarantees that no more than one second shall pass at your home, as it can not begin to compensate you for the potential losses from missed time during Primordial Flight."

"Alright, so then, what do we need to do?" Julia asked.

"Well, for starters, User Julia, you should review the notices that you have; please share them with me as you both review them," Argo said, and Theo and Julia nodded.

Family Formation Completion The System congratulates you on the establishment of a family and wishes you luck in your future. Please complete the final steps below. Founding Member Name Role Theodore Oskar Sorrenson Founder Julia Brahmin Founder Go'Van' Ordus Majordomo Kreldar Underbrace of Clan Molbrak Contracted Servant These individuals are noted as the founding members. Each of them will receive the title "Founding Member: Family Name" Name Selection Users Theo Sorrenson and Julia Brahmin will select a family name. Users Theo Sorrenson and Julia Brahmin will take the family name. DESIRED NAME:

"Oh boy," Theo said, looking at Julia. "We have to pick a name."

"Oh," Julia said, feeling a little conflicted.

"If I may?" Argo asked, and Theo and Julia nodded. "I have seen this play out many times, and the people who end up lasting the longest are those who pick a combination of both of their prior family names. Just a suggestion."

Theo nodded. "Okay, I like that."

Julia smiled, "That's fair."

They discussed the matter for several minutes and even asked Argo for his opinion. Then Theo nodded. "Alright then, we are officially the Sorrin family."

"Agreed," Julia said with a smile and entered the name into the blue screen, patiently waiting for them. With a flick of her mind, the box rushed away, and they both felt a change. Another box popped up.

Family Formation Completed The Sorrin Family has completed Family Establishment. Congratulations to Lord and Lady Sorrin. Completed Tasks Minimum Members Minimum number of people met as per gender/species rules Bonded to Each Other Bound using the Bond skill Mana Density Both Founders have at least B rank mana density Land Ownership Land claimed using Claim skill Seat of Power Completed a Runic Array of sufficient scale Legacy Contracted with the System-Wyrm (under review) Completion of the review (currently ongoing) will be required.

Upon review completion, you will be granted a System Reward for being the first to establish a Family on your planet.

"Alright, that is out of the way", Theo said and glanced at Argo. "What are you looking for."

"That last line there is wrong." Argo said, an aura of surprise emanating from him, "We expected the Upon review completion part, but after that, it should read, 'you will be granted a System Title for being the first to establish a Family on your planet.'"

"But we are getting a reward?" Julia asked.

Argo made a shrugging motion, the whole thing sending shivers down Theo and Julia's spines as Argo's plethora of arms all moved in unison. "The System will trigger the issuance of the reward before you leave, and assuming that everything goes well, that will be the end of the review. Please finish reviewing your messages."

Theo and Julia nodded, each of them showing Argo a box and receiving messages that were unique to them.

[Theo]

>Private Message: Unique Class Progression discovered. >Private Message: Class' Son of the Soil' becomes 'Heir of the Land' >Private Message: You and Your Bonded Pair have discovered a new Class progression for the base class 'Son of the Soil'. Gain the title 'System First: Heir of the Land'

Theo then looked at the blue box that popped up to accompany the announcement.

Class Evolution Old Class: Son of the Soil Rewards per Level STR DEX CON INT CHA META SPECIAL 1 1 3 0 0 0 None You are not merely a settler or farmer; you are claimed by the land as much as you claim it. The soil knows your tread, the trees whisper your name, and stone yields just slightly under your touch. Through effort, blood, and perseverance, you forge not just a homestead but a legacy.

As a Son of the Soil, your strength grows in tandem with the ground you tend and the people you protect. You gain bonuses when building, harvesting, and defending land you've claimed. The more rooted your presence, the more fiercely the world itself rises to answer your will.

Valid Progression Routes Combat, Home Development, Non-Combat Invalid Progression Routes Skill, Production, Social, Economic New Class: Heir of the Land Rewards per Level STR DEX CON INT CHA META SPECIAL 2 1 3 0 0 1 Progression Dependant You have done more than survive, you have sown roots deep enough to be recognized. The land no longer sees you as a mere guest but as an heir worthy of shaping its future. If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it. As an Heir of the Land, your strength flows not only from the soil beneath your feet but from the home you've built and the one who shares it. Together with your bonded partner, you foster growth that extends beyond walls or boundaries. Homes become sanctuaries. Work becomes legacy. And every claim you stake reshapes the wild into a future worth defending.

Whether expanding your reach through steady cultivation or setting forth on brief expeditions to secure new resources, your bond to land and partner remains a constant, living tether that grants power, protection, and purpose.

Valid Progression Routes Combat, Home Development, Non-Combat, Skill Invalid Progression Routes Production, Social, Economic Skill Changes None. Future skills shall be adjusted and developed as needed. This is your only notification.

"Well done, User Theo," Argo said with a burst of positive radiance. "You have taken a step to higher heights than you would ever understand."

Theo nodded and wondered about his new class compared to his old one. And he wondered at how this changed what they would do.

[Julia] >Private Message: Unique Class Progression discovered. >Private Message: Class 'Hearthwarden' becomes 'Hearthsoul Keeper' >Private Message: You and Your Bonded Pair have discovered a new Class progression for the base class 'Hearthwarden'. Gain the title 'System First: Hearthsoul Keeper'

Julia was surprised. But she remembered what had been said in the strange test and how she had rushed into the darkness with a blank canvas.

Class Evolution Old Class: Hearthwarden Rewards per Level STR DEX CON INT CHA META SPECIAL 0 0 2 1 1 2 None In a world reborn in chaos, you are the guardian of its gentlest light. The fire that warms, the hands that soothe, the voice that steadies, as a Hearthwarden, you anchor others in place and in purpose. Your presence reinforces the safety of any space made home, and your magic responds most fiercely in defense of what you love. Whether carving out a haven in wildlands or kindling hope in shared silence, you grow stronger when you build, when you care, and most of all, when you protect. Valid Progression Routes Combat, Home Development, Skill Invalid Progression Routes Non-Combat, Production, Social, Economic New Class: Hearthsoul Keeper Rewards per Level STR DEX CON INT CHA META SPECIAL 0 1 1 3 2 3 Progression Dependant You are no longer just the warden of warmth — you are its keeper, its voice, its soul. As a Hearthsoul Keeper, your magic is woven into the spaces and bonds you protect.

The hearth responds to your presence: wards strengthen, healing flows, and memories linger. Your bond with your partner deepens this power — where they claim the land, you make it home.

The hearth is no longer a place. It is you.

Valid Progression Routes Combat, Home Development, Skill, Social Invalid Progression Routes Non-Combat, Production, Economic Skill Changes None. Future skills shall be adjusted and developed as needed. This is your only notification.

Argo nodded to her as well, releasing another burst of excited energy. "You both have accomplished something great here. I hope that you realize this and that you fully come to understand what you have achieved."

[Theo and Julia]

"Alright, one more," Theo said, and he and Julia showed Argo identical notifications.

System Message Regarding: Personal Mana Density Description Due to prolonged exposure to a mana density significantly higher than your own. You have progressed from a personal mana density of 'B' to a personal mana density of 'A-'. Congratulations. Note: N/A

"You both skipped a level in mana density," Argo said approvingly. "That is not uncommon during events like Primordial Flight."

"So, is this the normal way to increase your personal mana density?" Julia asked.

A wave of unsure confirmation emanated from Argo. "It is not an uncommon way to do so. I would recommend that if you intend to continue developing your personal mana density, you both spread out level increases so as not to damage your bodies. Now then, Users Theo and Julia, we shall examine what the reward you received is."

Argo waved one of his hands, and a flash of light occurred, and there was a small box on the floor. The box was a beautiful black wood with a pearlescent finish and strange red inlay that pulsed with a heartbeat. The inlay formed a System Glyph that all would know said 'Sorrin.'

"This is interesting," Argo said, several of his hands hovering over the box, "I am unable to interface with this box. If one of you would please try and Identify it."

Theo stepped up and used his Identification Skill.

Identification of Target Subject: Box of Sorrin Level: N/A Mana Density: ??? Class: N/A Special: Contract Bound and Enforced Species: N/A Other: Indestructable Description This is the Box of Sorrin. The will of the long-dead God-Wyrm created this out of honor to the new family. Let this be a permanent reminder that Primordial Flight is not always a bad thing.

A Contract Between System Users Theo Sorrin, Julia Sorrin, and System Construct D-0 has brought this box into creation.

A Contract Between System Users Theo Sorrin, Julia Sorrin, and System Construct D-0 prevents any who are not Users Theo Sorrin and Julia Sorrin from accessing or interfacing with the box.

The Box is considered indestructable by The System.

Value: N/A Status: N/A

Argo was silent for a moment, and then he looked at Theo and Julia. "Please open it."

Julia reached forward and opened the box to find a small black dragon scale that was almost circular. The wash of energy that rolled off the scale was frightening. Argo nodded. "That is enough."

Julia closed the box, and the power was contained. Argo was silent for a moment before speaking. "I have been instructed not to tell you what that is. I have been permitted to tell you that you should absolutely keep that box closed until you next speak with Patriarch Karzun."

"Okay," Theo said and opened his Dimensional Storage. He walked inside to set the box down.

"Was that all that you were supposed to do?" Julia asked Argo, who nodded.

"Yes, it was. I am glad to see you both again." Argo said with a radiance of happiness. "And let me be the first to congratulate you. May your family thrive in the System forever more."

"Thanks, Argo," Theo said.

"Now then. My task is complete. You will be sent back. Goodbye." Argo waved his hand, and suddenly, they were back on the overlook.
