Andrew's Continuing Adventures

Andrew had gotten bored, it had been a while since grabbing those animal-headed goblins and as always, messing with more humanoid monsters took time. So he decided to go out and have a little fun. Despite living nearby, it had been forever since he met with a certain friend of his.

So, without a second thought, Andrew took off flying, heading straight for the center of the rabbit plains. Though before he can reach his target, a certain Jackalope flies up and greets him. "Hey! Andrew, been forever. The lady's been a bit down as of late, you should have come sooner!"

Andrew snorts and continues flying, "We both know she's just traveling down memory lane and my presence would make things awkward."

The Jackalope tosses his head, disturbing a couple of fairies that had made his rack their seat. "As if, while it would be a little awkward at first, she would appreciate it. You just got caught up in some research or another."

Andrew grins, "Well, I can't really deny that! Though the source of it comes from a certain somebody and so, that would just compound the awkwardness."

Then a certain pressure falls upon the two and they get dragged to the center of the rabbit plains while a voice asks, 'So you've gotten updates on how they're doing?'

Andrew laughs as he ends up placed down in front of a dainty table upon which a small rabbit is sitting. "Your highness! It has been too long since we"

And the Rabbit Empress cuts him off, 'So you've gotten updates?'

Andrew sighs, "Not going to let me have my fun? But yeah, the boy has sent me a message or two. Guided me towards a really interesting tribe of non-sapient goblins. Oh, and he mentioned having a certain companion with him. Boy, was I surprised!"

The Rabbit Empress snorts, 'Yes, he does have one of mine with him. The boy accidentally gave a bunch of the young ones a chance to gain a power.'

Then she turns a glare on the Jackalope, 'And during that a certain somebody ended up letting one of the kits join in.'

Andrew's eyebrows jump up at that, "So we have another? Are you finally going to retire, perhaps?"

The Rabbit Empress rolls her eyes, 'As if. While the System can't hold me here if I really wanted to leave, I have a duty. That little one has a greater destiny than to sit around and make sure our kind is well represented in this world. You should have noticed the boy's path.'

Andrew nods, "Quite the unique way of doing things. I even ended up reaching out to a nice couple he stayed with for a while for a more detailed update. While they obviously weren't willing to tell me too much without his permission, what they did say was enlightening. If only the System wasn't so adamant about me not looking into Energy."

The Rabbit nods, 'It would be nice if I could bounce ideas off of you. Despite not being capped, you are one of the best researchers for this kind of stuff.'

Andrew shrugs, "The System can't stop me from advancing, even if it has managed to slow me down by quite a bit. Someday, maybe within the next thousand years, I'll cap out and then I will be able to research to my heart's content."

The Rabbit Empress snorts, 'If getting free of the System's grasp was that easy, there wouldn't be so many fogeys lying around all over the place. If it wasn't for the fact that some of the maxers allow the System to fully parasitize them so they can leave, I wouldn't be surprised if it became hard to throw a rock and not hit one.

'No matter how hard it is to hit max level, at that point a person's lifespan is so exaggerated that the ones calling themselves immortal aren't too far off. Either you leave or you die violently, whether that means a fight or some experiment gone wrong. Almost no one ends up dying of old age at that point.'

Andrew shrugs, "Certainly doesn't help that by that point, if they are even vaguely interested in immortality they'll have found a method. Like, I figured it out before I even hit level 100 all those years ago! Unlike the boy, I didn't even have a core!"

The Jackalope that had been sitting to the side laughs, "Oh woe is you, not getting a core early, instead just finding the secret to eternal life. You only look old because you want to."

Andrew smirks, "Says the guy touched by the fae before they were even a year old."

The two go back and forth over this a few times until a slight pressure falls over them both and they turn to the rabbit on the table.

The Empress clears her throat despite speaking telepathically, 'Anyway, do you have more up-to-date news on how my little one is doing?'

Andrew leans back and shrugs, "Eh? Depends on what you call up to date. Once the guy I was corresponding with knew I knew you, he shared their current goal and some more stuff, but that is weeks old.

"There is some stuff you'll be interested in. At some point, Jason purchased a leather safety device? Harness? Not really sure what to call it. Anyway, he wears the thing and it has an area on his shoulder where your little one can sit and it can be closed up to protect them. Seems like it is good quality to do the protect isn't anything to sneeze at for their level.

"Though speaking of their level, by now they should be at the third bottleneck. The plan is for their group, oh yeah, the boy has a couple of girls who have teamed up with him. Anyway, they plan to use the nearest tardigroid dungeon to break through."

The Rabbit Empress nods, 'That's good. The boy seemed like the lonely sort, so having those he can trust his back to can only be good. And that dungeon is perfect for travellers to break through. I'm assuming the couple you were corresponding with suggested it?'

Andrew nodded, "Yep, and I certainly approve of it as well. Just enough challenge to keep them on their toes and no big twists to deal with. A straightforward dungeon crawl if there ever was one!"

After that, the three end up chatting about a number of random things and a week later later Andrew returns to his tower, refreshed and ready to continue his research.
