The Boundless Expanse(An Epic System Apocalypse LitRPG)

Chapter 623

Sam recalled Terra's Will, the hammer reforming out of a pillar of halcyon lightning as it returned to his hand. Scarlet and crimson fire burned like the sun around the weapon as Sam raised it above his head. As the Foreman surged in, his molten wings beating with the fury of a hurricane, Sam brought it down.

A ghostly icon formed around the weapon, an armor clad warrior with plates the color of blood and the azure sky, as tall as a mountain. Sam smiled as he enhanced his Domain with his Dao energy, bringing the battle to a new realm, both literally and figuratively. The Foreman raised his own hammer and a towering volcano, spewing forth the lifeblood of the Earth erupted behind him. Rather than lava, streams of molten gold poured down its slopes, a testament to the Foreman's wealth.

Both manifestations of the Dao pressed against one another, dividing up the sky between their hegemonies. Sam found his own being pushed back, which was to be expected, given the experiences of his foe. Compared to most E Rankers, Sam was a rank novice in many regards, save for his stats and skills. There were some things that only time could bring, but in every other regard, Sam was beyond most.

He let his Dao be pushed back, and before the Foreman could lock down space, Sam teleported once, before summoning a sheet of condensed Dao and elemental energy behind his feet. With every ounce of his 5000 points in strength, Sam pushed off, shattering the energy construct behind him. Even with the raging energies fighting for dominance in the air around him, painting the sky in the exotic colors of higher tier Dao expressions, Sam reached speeds upwards of ten thousand miles per hour. Terra's Will was more like a spear at such speeds, and Sam applied his weapon's ability to shrink the hammer. Only, this time he shrunk it towards the haft, rather than in every direction. The head of the hammer transformed into a blunt spearhead, which Sam extended into a blade of conceptual energy.

Glowing loops of magma and burning gold condensed around the Foreman's weapon, and the air around him seemed to compress, gathering power for a single, devastating blow. Sam continued on regardless, relying on his sole stat that surpassed Strength. Resilience. With enough natural durability to shrug off meteor impacts and natural disasters, Sam feared no volcano, no matter that its lava was crafted out of the concepts of the cosmos itself.

With a grin, Sam used his Primal skill, Manifestation of Vengeance. The spearhead of red and blue he had summoned at the end of Terra's Will exploded in size, transforming into a cruise missile wrought from the triad of his energy types. The Foreman faltered for a moment, but he was already swinging. With the amount of power he had driven into his hammer, it was impossible to stop. With a ringing, rending boom the two weapons collided midair. Backwashes of reflected energy tore the two cultivators apart, while the majority of the attacks warred in between them. Sam and the Foreman smiled hungrily, the latter visible through the slit in his helm. This was shaping up to be a worthwhile fight for both of them.

The surface of the Gemlands cracked and tore as the two powerhouses battled across the elemental plane, great scars etched into the stone. The Foreman was quite evenly matched with Sam, which was surprising to both of the fighters.

"Why are you so strong?" the Foreman bellowed as he was sent hurtling backwards by a strike of Sam's hammer.

"Why are you so weak?" Sam called back, pursuing the retreating form of his foe. Terra's Will glowed with the light of a star as he slammed it down on the Foreman's armor. The metal dented, but remained solid enough to deflect the majority of the force. Sam's arms vibrated as some of that force coursed back into his body, and for a brief moment, he was disorientated enough for the Foreman to land a hit.

The Earth cultivator streaked down like a meteor, impacting the ground with enough force to send a localized earthquake shuddering across the land. Sam flexed his own control over the Earth, rapidly increasing the density of his body. It wasn't really a skill, more akin to him using his Dao energy as a semi-physical construct. Instead, he simply became more closely aligned with the nature of stone, plummeting from the sky as a true meteor.

Terra's Will served as the metallic core of the entire thing, shooting outwards as Sam expanded it to its fullest size. Veils of Dao energy surrounded him, trailing behind like a comet's tail. With a roar of exertion, Sam propelled himself to his maximum speed, gravity and his Dao combining in a pure expression of his path. He was the overwhelming force, and everything else were not so immovable objects.
