Sam burst out of the ether next to his foe's massive head, and with the ringing of a bell, his hammer impacted it. The creature staggered, the metal making up its face deforming under the strength of Sam's strike. Then he struck again on the rebound, this time filling the attack with his Dao. A spike of rampant energy seared through the metal, turning it to slag. However, the monster was made of metal all the way through, and even had it not been, as an E Ranker there would have been no vital organs to target.

Instead, Sam focused on blasting the creature's form apart, the only surefire way to deal with an E Ranker. Chunks of glowing metal fell to the ground as he worked his hammer into the beast's head, and cracks began to spread across it. The beast bellowed in pain, and swiped at Sam with its claws. The razor sharp appendages sliced through the air like butter, and threatened to bisect him.

Sam brought Terra's Will down, and with a sharp crack, he broke one of the claws, catapulting himself over the strike and towards the bear. The monster glared at him through sunken eyes of fiery iron, and opened its mouth wide. The metal was warped, and listed to the side at a sharp angle. Still, the mouth was cavernous in its scale, and lined with teeth even sharper than the monster's claws.

With a laugh, Sam pointed his hammer at the gaping maw, and channeled immense amounts of energy into it. A crackling nova of fiery power gathered within the weapon, and with the sound of a supernova, a beam of light lanced out of its end, and into the bear's mouth. The monster froze, and started to convulse, the metal making up its body melting like wax as Sam's attack rippled through it. The creature fell back to the ground, its legs collapsing. A moment later, the beam exited the back of its body, having destroyed its upper body in the process. Its flesh steamed, and rivulets of molten metal coursed down. It panted heavily, and looked at Sam with hate so pure that he almost shivered.

Then, he brought his hammer crashing down upon the remnants of its head, and with a sharp series of cracks, the monster's face exploded, shattering into tiny pieces. The body lost all of its motive power, and fell, looking more like a small mountain than anything else.

A rush of essence poured into Sam, and he leveled, pinions of white light lifting him from the ground to hover over the battlefield like a god of battle. A notification appeared before him.

Sam thought that it was a bit odd for the System to refer to it as the Grand Arena, even though he had left the arena behind, but then again, Vallenar had hardly been a Jade Jungle. As he was now completing missions in the real world, things were bound to change, and his locale would not remain static any longer.

With a grin, Sam pulled up his stats, even as the battle continued beneath him. His role was largely over here.

Sam had over five hundred stat points waiting to be allocated, which, with his titles, meant he had over a thousand ready to go. Then, if his suspicions were correct, his Perfect Ascension would boost the efficacy of those stats fivefold. Every time he gained power in E Rank, he was reminded of how it was possible for higher Rank cultivators to be so powerful, beyond what might be expected from a simple leveling curve. It was a sobering thought, but a hopeful one as well. One day, he would be among the ranks of the gods.
