"Chief." One of the female guards following Wisteria said, "I don't think there's anything out here; that human lied to you."
The other guards nodded; they trust in their senses. Unlike other beasts, they had a sharp sense that was able to tell if a dead body was buried in the snow.
"No." Wisteria squinted her eyes, looking far into the distance. She was outside of the village in search of the dungeon king; she had brought enough soldiers with her to kill the demon. Wisteria was strong, but she knew that the dungeon king was no ordinary demon; he won't go down easily. "Lucian told me the truth."
The blizzard outside the village created more fog than usual, ranging in a way that made Wisteria know that something was amiss.
"Let's keep searching; that demon is messing with us. Who knows how long he has been hiding in our dungeon?"
"Our dungeon?" A male voice said. He laughed, and the blizzard raged even more.
The soldiers pulled out their swords, and Wisteria's claw came out from her hand.
Wisteria looked around, but she couldn't sense anyone, not even from miles away.
"Where is he?" One of the female guards asked, sure that she heard a voice.
A shadow form in the fog, revealing the shadow of a tall male with a slender build.
"Ahead!" Wisteria shouted. Although she could see him, she still couldn't sense his life force as though his presence was nonexistent.
'Don't tell me he is the one.' Wisteria thought, 'The dungeon king.'
A strong wind blew and made the foggy shadows disappear. Wisteria stopped in her movement, searching for her target. She turned around and noticed the blood staining the snow; it wasn't human blood, it was the blood of her soldiers. They were all dead.
Wisteria held her breath as she slowly approached the dead bodies of her sisters. She couldn't believe it. They were all cursed beasts, S-rank beasts with no weakness.
"Our dungeon?" The male voice asks again; this time the voice carried no humor.
Wisteria, for the first time in a hundred years, trembled in fear. She had always felt powerful, invincible, because there was nothing that could kill her and her people. It didn't matter how many times they were hit and cut down; they always came back to life immediately. She looked at the dead faces of her sisters that had been frozen in fear; she hoped that they would spring back to life, but they did not.
Crawling on her knees, Wisteria forces her shaky legs to move and then began to run back to the village.
'This is my dungeon,' she thought to herself, refusing to believe that the dungeon king has been with her all this while. When she returns to the village, she strengthens the shield surrounding the village.
"Good day, chief."
Wisteria ignores the greetings, her breath unsteady as she walks at a fast pace towards the safety of her house. Her mind couldn't think clearly, and with that, instead of heading for her house like she wanted, she came to the underground cellar instead.
"Who is he?" Wisteria asked, angry that Lucian was free and was trying to run away, "How did you manage to free yourself?"
Lucian scoffs, "What are you?" He asked in a mocking tone, "A fool? I have beast magic; what makes you think that I can't set myself free if I wanted to?" The lock to his cell was controlled by magic.
Reed tenses up. He didn't like how Lucian was trying to lead them faster to their death by insulting Wisteria. Reed still couldn't believe Lucian's beast ability; he had tried asking Lucian, but Lucian ignored him and refused to give him information about his strange ability.
Lucian had set himself free from his chains by forcing himself out with his beast magic; the activation of a strong portion of his magic filled his body with ice shards that left him cold and unconscious for a while. It delayed his escape with Reed and once again made Lucian feel as though he was weak now that he had been caught by Wisteria. Lucian felt like he had a better chance fighting someone else and not Wisteria; she was too strong. And Lucian currently couldn't stand up straight without Reed's assistance.
"Stop it." Reed whispers in Lucian's ear. Being placed in a cell was better than dying on the spot. Lucian was the only one between the two of them who could fight, but with one of his legs frozen and out of use, he wasn't in a good state to fight against anyone.
Lucian glared at Reed. Hating his situation and how useless his leg has become. If not for his regenerative ability that was slowly healing him, his leg would have been lost forever.
"Look at you." Wisteria eyed Lucian's leg. "Pathetic. You had the chance to leave your cell without hurting yourself, and yet you refuse to grab the opportunity that was given to you."
"I'd rather die than turn into your dumb puppet." Lucian lifted one of his arms, hardening it as he activated his beast magic.
Wisteria brought out her claw, mixing her sharp claws with fire magic.
"Shit." Reed's eyes move between Wisteria and Lucian; he has no sword, no magic. No way to defend himself. He couldn't entirely lean on Lucian for survival either, not when he was wounded. "You fucking moron." Reed let go of Lucian; they weren't buddies to begin with. He had no reason to stay around and get himself killed with Lucian, who was acting without thinking.
Lucian immediately lost his balance and fell to the ground; he glared at Reed, who was already trying to run away on his own.
'Damn bastard.' Lucian thought.
A tearing appeared in the air, creating a space that brought Draven and other humans to the dungeon.
"Where am I this time?" Draven rubs his head that hit against the ground as he stares at his surroundings, along with who he had bumped into.
"Get off me!" Reed shouted as he pushed Draven away. Draven had stopped his escape.
"Lucian?" Flint called out in surprise.
Lucian twisted his face in a frown as he spotted Flint and his teammates.
