My Cheat Skill Is Unlimited

Chapter 57: Bread and soup

'So this is the truth.' Lucian thought with a somber expression. 'There is only one important player in this f*cking game.' He felt deceived; it left an unsettled rage in him. 'The villain is actually nothing but the strongest tool that is meant to shape the hero into the strongest weapon for those damned gods to use. Hlasked is a training ground.'

"I'm not going to die." Lucian muttered to himself. The only way for Thorin to live and fulfill the destiny the 12 gods had placed in his life was through Lucian's death, and Lucian was determined to be the last one standing. It didn't matter what he had to do; he would win the game.

'But to carelessly risk the life of many just for one man? Those shitty gods are mad!'

"Oh my sweet Lucian." Wisteria smiles and places both hands on Lucian's cheeks. "You are not going to die. I will protect you. I'm no longer as weak as before."

Lucian tensed up at Wisteria's touch; he was creeped out by her smile, but after knowing her story and the reason she was so obsessed with having a human child, he was going to try his best to treat her with kindness. Something that was never given to her in the past.

Forcing himself not to pull away from Wisteria's hands, Lucian said, gently, "I'm sorry for what happened to you in the past. You didn't deserve it. No one in the village deserves to suffer from something they knew nothing of. I'm sorry for the child you lost. I'm sure that your son was precious to you, but you need to understand that I can't fill the void your son left in your heart. I'm not even from this world. Please set me free and let me leave the dungeon with my friends."

The tears gathering in Wisteria's eyes stop after hearing the words, 'set me free.' Lucian was as kind and sweet as her son would have been if he had been given the chance to grow up to Lucian's age. No doubt he would be this handsome too.

Studying her expression, Lucian quickly adds, "I'm not angry with you for keeping me trapped in this village; the only ones that are to blame are those damned gods."

"Yes." Wisteria agrees, "They are the only ones to blame for making us suffer. Can't you see what we have in common, Lucian?" She asked with a crazed look on her face, "As long as you are willing to be my Rurik, we can both start a new life happy together with your little sister."

'F*ck, I can't imagine living my whole life with Luna. I can barely stand her.'

"I'm not your son, Wisteria." Lucian watched as the beast before him broke down at his words; her hands covered her ears, but there was nothing she could do that could hide the truth. "Your son is dead. Let me go. I know that your past is bad, but just imagine that your son had a good life before he died. Live with the thought that he was happy, and stop picking up random humans to replace him if you truly love your Rurik..."

'or whatever his name is,' Lucian thought as he tried not to bite his tongue.

"You won't be picking up different humans to copy and replace him. Live with the real memories you have with him; don't mess it up with your lies."

"No!" Wisteria bent down to her knees and shouted. She cried hard at Lucian's words that made her dull heart ache. For so long she had forgotten what it felt like to have a human heart that could feel pain; until now, she thought she knew and lived in her sorrowful past every day until now.

Hearing Wisteria scream, three female guards dressed in armor rush into Lucian's cell. They drew out their sword when they saw that the cell was opened and then suddenly stopped in confusion after noticing that Lucian was still chained up and yet their chief was in a questionable state.

"Leave!" "Wisteria," she ordered as she regained her composure. She looked like a trembling mess with tears on her face, but her strong voice carried authority. "No one is allowed to disturb me and my son."

Lucian sighed, 'She is still delusional.'

"Since you care about the life of other humans, I promise to stop making humans my child if you agree to be my son, Lucian. I will let you live when you grow old with me, if possible. I can start researching for magic that's capable of making you live together with me forever!"

'I care about my team; I'm not some righteous guy aiming to save the whole world from doom. I don't care about if others die.' Lucian frowned, realizing Wisteria had plans to kill him in the future after he aged, not that he intended to stay that long with her.

'How can I tell her that my real parents are enough pain in the ass? I'm not looking for another.' He paused and realized that it didn't matter what he said; his conversation with Wisteria was going nowhere. He found it funny how she condemned the gods for trapping her and her people in a dungeon when she was doing the exact same thing to others, but still, regardless of her actions, he still pitied her, but not enough to throw his life away and become her son. It didn't matter if she made him a prince in Hlasked; he was still not going to be her son. Not that gold and silver could move him; he grew up his whole life in wealth. Lucian wasn't one of those rich, hypocritical brats who denied that they loved their wealth and thought money wasn't everything because they had seen enough of it. No, Lucian loves money, but not enough to give his life away.

"I have a cheat skill that helps me copy the ability of anyone I defeat. That's the reason I have beast magic." Lucian changed the topic.

Wisteria furrowed her brows at him and decided to let him be for today; there were lots of days she could use to convince Lucian to be her son. "What are the rules of your abilities?" She asked, knowing that Lucian was hiding something from her. An ability as strong as his always had a dangerous rule attached to it. One that couldn't be broken.

"I can only steal the ability of those I kill. But if my opponent dies in the hands of another, then I can't have his ability."

"I see." Wisteria released the chains that bound Lucian's arms and neck but left the one on his feet. Then she used magic to create food for him. "Consider this payment for telling me the truth."

For a second Lucian was relieved with the thought that she was finally setting him free until he saw the hot bread and soup she left for him. He silently cursed Wisteria as she locked his cell and left him alone.
