Immortal Doctor Expert in Urban

Chapter 676: Raising the Price

"Young Master Li, please sit for a moment. We are going to welcome Doctor Hu and will be back shortly," Madam Deng politely said to Lin Fei.

Lin Fei was also curious to meet this Doctor Hu, so he said to Madam Deng, "Auntie, I would like to join you in welcoming Doctor Hu, if that's alright?"

Madam Deng was a little surprised but soon smiled, "Of course, it's just a bit of trouble for you, Young Master Li."

Lin Fei replied, "Not at all, Auntie. Since Doctor Hu can cure Ziyu's grandfather's severe illness, it only shows our sincerity if I join you in welcoming him."

Madam Deng smiled in satisfaction, "Young Master Li truly is well-educated and sensible."

Hearing her mother praise Lin Fei, Deng Ziyu was also very pleased.

Chen Lin also said to Madam Deng, "Auntie, I'd like to go with you to welcome this Doctor Hu as well."

Madam Deng nodded.

Madam Deng, Deng Ziyu, Lin Fei, Chen Lin, and all the male and female servants of the Deng family lined up in two neat rows in front of the villa's courtyard.

At that moment, a long stretch Rolls-Royce drove into the courtyard.

Everyone's eyes were fixed on the Rolls-Royce. It went without saying that Doctor Hu had arrived!

The car stopped, and under the butler's direction, two male servants immediately stepped forward to open the car door.

First out was a middle-aged man in a suit and tie with the demeanor of a businessman, whom Lin Fei suspected to be Deng Ziyu's father, Deng Yuan.

After getting out of the car, the middle-aged man respectfully said to the interior, "Doctor Hu, we have arrived."

"Mm," replied an elderly voice from inside the car, with a demeanor as if he were a person of great importance.

Subsequently, an elderly man dressed in a bright red Tang suit embroidered with the character for "fortune" and an auspicious pattern stepped out of the car.

The elderly man appeared to be in his sixties, with graying hair, a haughty expression, and a demeanor of being above mixing with common folk.

Everyone had guessed that this haughty-looking elder was Doctor Hu.

After Doctor Hu got out of the car, another tall, strong, young man in sunglasses and a suit, carrying a small medical case, also disembarked.

He was likely both Doctor Hu's bodyguard and assistant.

Finally, a tall and handsome young man, who bore some resemblance to Deng Ziyu, got out from the driver's seat. Lin Fei guessed that this young man was Deng Ziyu's brother, Deng Han, the third-ranked expert among the Capital City's top ten young masters.

"Welcome, Doctor Hu!" At that moment, Madam Deng greeted Doctor Hu, who was dressed in a red Tang suit, with a warm smile and a slight bow.

And the neatly arranged butler and all the male and female servants in the courtyard followed suit in unison, "Welcome, Doctor Hu."

Receiving such a high-level welcome, Doctor Hu, whose face was initially proud and serious, finally showed a faint smile, nodding seemingly out of formality, "Mm."

Then, he glanced at the middle-aged man beside him and said, "Mr. Deng, although your Deng family is very hospitable, my time is valuable. Quickly take me to see Master Deng."

"Yes, yes, yes, please, Doctor Hu," Deng Han said with a respectful expression, extending his hand.

Then, Deng Han led Doctor Hu and the bodyguard carrying the medical case into the villa.

"Old butler, have all the servants disperse and return to work!" Madam Deng instructed the old butler.

"Yes, ma'am," the old butler replied.

The old butler dismissed the arranged servants.

Only then did Madam Deng look at her son, Deng Han, and ask, "Son, how did you and your father manage to invite Doctor Hu?"

Inviting Doctor Hu for treatment is notoriously difficult in the Capital City.

Because Doctor Hu's consultation fees are exorbitant, most people cannot afford him, even some wealthy individuals.

Deng Han said to his mother, "Originally, my father and I also thought it might be very difficult to invite Doctor Hu this time, but we didn't expect Doctor Hu to agree immediately to treat Grandpa."

Madam Deng was surprised and said, "I didn't expect that Doctor Hu, who appears so coldly proud, would actually have a compassionate heart for saving lives. Did Doctor Hu mention anything about the consultation fee?"

"Mom, Doctor Hu said my grandfather has always been someone he respects and only emphasized the urgency of saving a life, without mentioning the consultation fee," Deng Han replied.

Madam Deng looked puzzled, "Doctor Hu has always demanded a hefty consultation fee before making house calls. It's truly strange that he didn't mention any fee."

"Mom, maybe Doctor Hu respects Grandpa too much to charge a fee," Deng Han suggested.

"Deng Han, that can't be. Doctor Hu is known to recognize only money, even if it's his own father, he won't treat without payment, and he would treat his father's killer if they paid well," said Chen Lin. "The fact that Doctor Hu hasn't mentioned the fee yet is even more peculiar, he might raise the price later."

Deng Han looked surprised, "Chen Lin, would Doctor Hu really do that?"

"Deng Han, nothing is impossible. Unless Doctor Hu truly doesn't charge a dime, otherwise, I don't believe that a man as money-obsessed as he would treat your grandfather for free just because of a so-called respect," Chen Lin said.

"Han'er, Chen Lin is right. Since Doctor Hu hasn't mentioned the fees, anything is possible. Let's go in and take a look first," Madam Deng evidently agreed with Chen Lin's view.

Although Lin Fei didn't speak, he saw Doctor Hu's ostentatious demeanor and pretentious manner and leaned more towards Chen Lin's opinion. Such claims of respecting Master Deng sounded more like pleasantries, and it was highly unlikely that no consultation fee would be charged.

Moreover, the more Doctor Hu made a mystery of the situation, the more Lin Fei suspected something was amiss.

The group then entered the villa, arriving at a luxurious and spacious bedroom.

On a large bed lay Master Deng, pale and eyes closed, with private family doctors and nurses attending to him, an IV drip attached, limbs connected to numerous electronic cables, and various monitoring instruments placed on the tables.

Doctor Hu sat down on a chair by the sickbed, took Master Deng's pulse, and checked his eyes.

Then he furrowed his brows and sighed heavily, his expression serious.

Deng Yuan promptly asked Doctor Hu, "Doctor Hu, how is my father's condition? Can he be cured?"

"Mm, the condition is very serious, life-threatening at any moment. However, I will do my best to treat him, and I should be able to cure your father," Doctor Hu said, stroking the sparse beard on his chin.

Hearing this, Deng Yuan, Madam Deng, and Deng Ziyu's siblings all showed a look of joy on their faces.

"That's wonderful! My father can be saved." Deng Yuan was overjoyed and then looked at Doctor Hu, saying, "Doctor Hu, please begin my father's treatment as soon as possible!"

"Ahem, treating Master Deng is certainly no problem, but..." At this point, Doctor Hu seemed hesitant and stopped mid-sentence, looking troubled.

"But what?" Deng Yuan asked hurriedly.

Doctor Hu finally said, "However, the consultation fees, we need to discuss them."

Hearing this, Madam Deng, Deng Han, and Chen Lin exchanged glances, all secretly thinking: Sure enough, Doctor Hu has shown his true colors!
