Nine Star Burden

Chapter 137 - Sorcerer and Sorceress

Chapter 137: Sorcerer and Sorceress

Hai Tianqing’s heart almost jumped out of his chest. When he saw them gathering again, he finally felt relieved.

He almost lost control and stepped forward to help them.

He looked at them and reckoned that they had probably overcome the ordeal, though just barely.

Hai Tianqing’s impression of Jiang Xiao improved again, for he felt that he was rather outstanding, be it in terms of his ability to stay calm or his witchcraft-like Blessing.

He didn’t expect that Blessing could be used to blow the corpse up.

Hai Tianqing knew that Jiang Xiao’s Blessing was of precious Silver Quality which indeed had greater and more obvious side effects than the Brass Quality one.

However, those side effects were also the reason he could dispel the negative effects brought by the Corpse Spirit.

What’s this?

Fighting evil with evil?

Hai Tianqing had no choice but to feel amazed by Jiang Xiao’s creativeness. Most importantly, his whimsical strategy had suddenly become “creative”.

He then glanced at Han Jiangxue who had been affected by the Corpse Spirit. She was actually alright and would be fine after calming herself down.

However, Xia Yan was extremely flustered and insisted on disturbing Han Jiangxue, thus causing the effects to become even more intense and vigorous.

After a ray of Blessing, the domineering Han Jiangxue became as meek as a lamb.

Blessing, an incredible and amazing Star Technique of Beijiang.

No, it was Beijiang witchcraft!

Hai Tianqing believed that as long as Jiang Xiao performed well and followed his team to the national league, the prices of the White Ghoul Witch Star Beads would definitely be increased by several times…

“Four male and female savages, six swordsmen, six spearmen, and one Savage Sorcerer,” Xia Yan said while arching her body with a sharp and intense gaze.

Li Weiyi suggested. “It’s going to be tough. Let’s retreat.”

As long as the Savage Sorcerer was around, the melee fighters Xia Yan and Li Weiyi would be incapacitated like they had fallen into booby traps.

Unless the two melee fighters changed their fighting styles and used ranged attacks, they would encounter an Explosive Corpse for every savage they killed.

One careless mistake would cause them to lose everything.

Even if there was no Explosive Corpse, a Corpse Spirit would be enough to jeopardize the entire team’s plan.

All of the creatures of other dimensions that were witches or sorcerers were not to be trifled with because their presence would cause a team to be in a dangerous position.

“Look around, they’re trying to chase us into the depths of the woods,” Xia Yan said with a frown.

“In that case, break through this encirclement and go to the supply point.” Li Weiyi suggested.

Jiang Xiao shifted his gaze back and forth at the skulls that popped up in the grass. Which one is the Savage Sorcerer?

This bunch of savages looks rather similar.

It was rather easy to differentiate between White Ghoul Witches and White Ghouls, but it was difficult to distinguish male Savage Sorcerers from savages.

Do we differentiate according to the way they dress?

The ones in tattered clothes should be the low-level savages, right?

In that case, the ones carrying the long spears should be the spearmen.

The ones with the stone swords should be the swordsmen…

So, the one in the leather armor is the Savage Sorcerer?

But… what about the female savage who also has messy hair and is wearing leather armor?

“I only have five Star Techniques. I can acquire an Explosive Corpse. That would be advantageous to us during the Beijiang Province High School League.”

“Do you want to attack it?” Li Weiyi asked worriedly.

“We…” Han Jiangxue’s expression changed and she continued, “Let’s keep a distance and encircle the supply point.”

“What’s the matter?” Jiang Xiao asked as he frantically charged towards the East together with his team.

“That woman doesn’t seem to be a low-level female savage. She seems to be a Savage Sorceress too,” Han Jiangxue said as she waved her hand and blasted away the man in front of her.

Jiang Xiao panicked and looked towards the left while crushing the White Ghoul Star Bead in his pocket, after which he spotted the female savage wearing leather boots amongst the four savages.

Although her clothes were tattered and torn, she was wearing footwear, unlike the other savages.

However, identifying them based on footwear didn’t seem too reliable or feasible. When Jiang Xiao saw that female savage yelling and roaring while giving her orders, he finally deduced that she should be a high-level creature.

“Li Weiyi, bear with it! Don’t launch a lethal attack!” Han Jiangxue hurriedly yelled and stopped in her tracks while running. She extended her arm and pulled him backward forcefully before turning around and pulling him over like she was holding onto a rope with all her might. Jiang Xiao had never seen such big movements before.

Jiang Xiao could see a male savage flying up without any weapons. However, he was wearing a neat pair of leather pants, and the leather boots on his feet were revealed after he flew up.

“Retreat! Retreat!” Li Weiyi yelled without activating his shield at all. Instead, he stomped his foot onto the ground.

—Silver Quality Star Technique, Scorch

The intense flames burst and spread outwards. Due to the fact that they didn’t have to kill and only needed to stall some time, the flames beneath Li Weiyi’s feet were powerful enough to force the spearmen swarming towards them to back off.

Under Xia Yan’s protection, the three of them backed away while Han Jiangxue waved her left hand and caused the overlapping space to appear quietly. She then stopped in her tracks, again grabbed something invisible, and tugged it backward.

The Savage Sorcerer struggling and wailing in mid-air seemed to speed up again before dashing down like a cannonball. He then plunged into the overlapping space.

Xia Yan shielded Han Jiangxue while being shrouded in Star Power. She then swung her sword and parried away the explosive heatwave from Li Weiyi, creating an excellent output environment for Han Jiangxue.

Jiang Xiao stood behind Han Jiangxue and flailed his arms, causing the two swordsmen to stop while attempting to detour. They began to stagger before having a terrible fall.

“Hang in there! Our team is strong enough to deal with these different creatures of the Arsenal. There are no Ape Ghoul Kings here,” Han Jiangxue said while trying to get her team to stay stable. However, she saw the swordsmen and spearmen who had been forced into stopping by Li Weiyi. Their feet began to glisten with a dim golden glow.

Immediately after, the dim golden glow beneath their feet suddenly evolved into rays that were being reflected outwards in a mysterious and beautiful manner.

They seemed to reflect outwards according to the scale of a clock.

One of the dim rays suddenly lit up and turned into a bright gold color before turning clockwise. The next ray then lit up and surrounded their bodies.

At the next moment, the spearmen and swordsmen seemed to have received orders as they were no longer dauntless and instead, painstakingly tried to withstand the violent and explosive impact while plunging straight into the flames of the explosion Li Weiyi launched.

Han Jiangxue extended her left arm and curled her index finger, after which a vortex formed beneath the feet of the female savage. She then rose into the air while Han Jiangxue yanked hard with her right hand.

After performing the series of actions, Han Jiangxue yelled, “Retreat, don’t let them get so near you!”

Li Weiyi dashed out of the explosive flames and quickly backed away.

Xia Yan was covered with Star Power and shrouded in flames. Hence, she dared not touch Han Jiangxue and simply brushed past her to take the lead.

Han Jiangxue and Jiang Xiao were guarded by two melee fighters and thus fled to the supply point hurriedly.

While running, Han Jiangxue occasionally looked up at the Savage Sorceress. The terrain of the dense forest was much more complicated and the Savage Sorceress managed to regain her balance by supporting herself against the tree.

Ka-cha!

A gust of wind swept through, and the Savage Sorceress managed to crush the tree with her powerful hands. She howled in exasperation but had no choice except to be blown towards the fleeing group.

“Hang in there for a moment.” Han Jiangxue suddenly stopped in her tracks and activated her Sky Smasher before glancing at the Savage Sorceress. A triumphant smile then formed on her face.

Swish…

The Savage Sorceress’s shrilling and miserable cry came to a halt as it vanished from Han Jiangxue’s side.

At the same time, the rays of golden light around the savages’ feet chasing them suddenly vanished.

Chi! Chi! Chi!

Three spears were deeply penetrated into Li Weiyi’s Black Shield, and the massive force even caused Li Weiyi’s body to slide backward.

Han Jiangxue continued to command clearly, “Fight and retreat. Xia Yan, go help Li Weiyi. Xiaopi, take note of your Blessing.”

Xia Yan swung her knife and her body began to bend backward, after which she passed Han Jiangxue.

Jiang Xiao pulled out a long wooden giant sword from his back and got ready to step forward, in a bid to help them out.

Just as he was about to rush out, he was picked up by his collar by a random hand.

Jiang Xiao was dumbfounded.

“Don’t mess up the formation. Cast the Blessing, they’ll seize the opportunity,” Han Jiangxue said coldly.

“Uh…” Jiang Xiao dragged the blade with his right hand and scratched his head with his left. “I’ll look out for both of them.”

My swordsmanship is great. Although it’s a wooden sword, it’s lethal and brutal enough when coupled with Gold Quality Green Glow.

Han Jiangxue said quietly, “Look out for me. Someone is staring at us.”

Jiang Xiao remained silent while feeling astonished. Are other teams watching and observing us in secret?
