A Core Ship From The Start

Chapter 1288: Professionals (Looks Like It's Going to Rain Time to Relax)

"Well done, Mr. Maranis."

Meeting Maranis again, Duanmu Huai showed a faint smile.

"Although I don't know why you made this decision, it seems you at least know what should and shouldn't be done."

Indeed, Duanmu Huai deliberately left the Tyrant Overlord Dragon not because it was unkillable, but to see if Maranis would choose to kill it. If this businessman was too invested in it and insisted on keeping it, Duanmu Huai would have turned away, leaving future troubles for him to handle alone.

But now, it seems Maranis, though a capitalist, still has some principles.

"Please don't mock me, Mr. Duanmu."

Upon hearing Duanmu Huai's praise, Maranis forced a bitter smile.

"I had no choice, really... I still want to keep this park running, and as for that dinosaur..."

As he spoke, Maranis shook his head.

"I've already talked with the development team. It was indeed my oversight, and it seems our management needs to be stricter in the future. Thankfully, thanks to you, this incident didn't cause too much damage..."

Although some of the capture team members would need compensation, Maranis wasn't too worried about that. Due to Jurassic Park's uniqueness, all capture team members had already signed life-and-death agreements. Given the dinosaurs' dangerous nature, even if you're not eaten by a Tyrannosaurus Rex, you could be trampled by a Brachiosaurus, knocked flying by a Pachycephalosaurus, or speared by a Triceratops...

So, although a few people were lost, it didn't impact the park significantly. On the contrary, if that dinosaur had truly escaped, the losses would have been monumental.

As for why he chose not to keep the dinosaur but to kill it immediately, Maranis had his reasons. He was a businessman, a wealthy one at that, and naturally had sharp insight. Initially, Maranis didn't think along these lines, but upon reflection, he quickly spotted a problem.

This intelligent dinosaur, capable of evading thermal detection and changing its color — it seems to have military value!

Oh my God!

At this realization, Maranis suddenly became alarmed.

Though Maranis International Corporation has diverse interests, he had no desire to deal with the military, regardless of the country. Especially with such bio-weapons, should anything go wrong, wouldn't it be him who took the fall?

Thus, Maranis promptly fired Doctor Wu and his team, who had created the dinosaur, sending them away — farewell and do well elsewhere, but don't bring trouble here. We want to live a few years longer!

As for the Tyrant Overlord Dragon, it had been shot to pieces and cremated, with all data thoroughly expunged, aiming for absolute cleanliness.

This way, Maranis didn't fear anyone seeking him out. If asked, he could easily say the body was incinerated, the research team disbanded, and the data erased. You're not going to find what you seek here; look for Doctor Wu and his team if you need anything. Don't come to me!

In this sense, Maranis was quite self-aware. Someone else, more arrogant, might claim to kill the dinosaur publicly, yet keep it secretly to pursue bio-weapon development... leading to a different story altogether.

Maranis was undoubtedly astonished that Duanmu Huai could settle a dinosaur weighing tons with his bare hands, yet he wisely refrained from questioning further. Duanmu's background was mysterious, endorsed by global elites or Nobles, and undoubtedly exceptional, though somewhat terrifying.

"Either way, it seems you've done well."

Duanmu Huai smiled, patting Maranis's shoulder, then produced a Tribunal badge, handing it over.

"What's this?"

Seeing the skull and War Hammer emblem, Maranis was puzzled.

"You've hosted me for fun; consider this a gift in return. If you encounter any troublesome problems in the future, show this to the Jimongli Family. If they can't resolve it, they can notify me."

Gimonri, Liliath's family, was how Duanmu Huai had arranged to play, so naturally, he named them directly.

"Then I won't stand on ceremony!"

Though finding the badge a bit odd, Maranis couldn't help grinning as he accepted it. Despite never learning Duanmu Huai's true identity, he at least hadn't offended the big shot and even pleased him.

Maranis thought his park's mishap might lead to rebuke for poor hospitality, but the big shot was rather pleased instead? Could wrestling with dinosaurs be that amusing?

Maranis couldn't figure it out and chose not to dwell on it. The whims of big shots are often baffling, after all.

After a tour of Jurassic Park, Duanmu Huai felt a sense of accomplishment. Fortunately, Kiba Hiroto was helpful, calling right after Duanmu Huai's return to inform him that the Emperor Organization was ready, with everyone assembling at the southeastern base in two days to head to Skull Island!

Hearing this, Duanmu Huai was immediately intrigued.

Dinosaurs were mere appetizers; now it was time for the main course!

Two days later, southeastern base.

This was a military airfield bustling with activity, with vehicles constantly coming and going.

"Mr. Mukai, is everyone here yet?"

A man in a suit stood by the runway, surveying the surroundings while inquiring. He was Professor Serizawa, a prominent figure in monster research for the Emperor Organization and also Kiba Hiroto's superior. He had tasked Kiba Hiroto with hiring mercenaries to protect the Emperor Organization's plans. Fully aware of the friction between the organization and national authorities from past scrutiny, the assigned Marine Corps were there to keep a watchful eye on them.

Hence the need for trusted allies; while mercenaries might not be wholly reliable, they at least adhere strictly to monetary agreements.

"Rest assured, Professor Serizawa, I have just contacted them, and the remaining people will arrive shortly."

"Why do we still have to wait? Who thinks they're so important?"

Upon hearing Mukai's report, a nearby Black mercenary immediately expressed discontent. His attire was that of a standard military mercenary. These mercenaries were hired by Yuuto Mukai from a military security company, which usually consisted mostly of retired special forces. Yuuto Mukai had specifically sought out the elites among them for this operation. Naturally, these individuals had quite a temper, and hearing that someone was competing with them for business made them very unhappy. But then, to their surprise, the others hadn't appeared yet?

Being soldiers with fiery tempers, they began to complain when upset.

"Please wait a moment, they'll be here shortly. Oh, here they come!"

While speaking, Yuuto Mukai looked up at the sky and his face lit up with joy. He pointed, and everyone turned their heads to look in the direction he indicated, suddenly stunned.

In their eyes, a strangely shaped transport plane cut through the sky, flew over, and landed on the platform. The aircraft's appearance was quite odd, looking rough and awkward, unlike anything they had seen before. However, this was not surprising because, in this world, many arms dealers had the ability to develop their own transportation vehicles, just like the unique vehicles of the "Black Sea" company that Yuuto Mukai contacted. So it wasn't surprising.

But when figures emerged from the helicopter after it landed, everyone was taken aback.

Leading the group was a tall individual dressed in heavy Battle Armor, wearing a helmet. Behind him were two slim figures also dressed in peculiar Battle Armor and helmets. From their physiques, the two behind looked like women, while the one in front appeared to be a man.

"FUCK... What's this scifi nonsense?"

Upon the appearance of the three, both the Marine Corps and the mercenaries stared with wide eyes, rendered speechless.

The reason was simple: their equipment looked way too futuristic!

Typically, soldiers just wear camouflage uniforms, tactical vests, and bulletproof helmets.

But these guys? What are they wearing?

Oh my, are we in a Hollywood sci-fi blockbuster?

"Thud, thud, thud!!"

Duanmu Huai strode over, his heavy Power Armor emitting a dull sound with each step. Watching him approach, Professor Serizawa was startled and even considered retreating — he was just a regular researcher, never having seen such a spectacle.

"We are here."

Duanmu Huai came over, glanced at Professor Serizawa, then withdrew his gaze and spoke in a low voice to Yuuto Mukai.

"Not late, right?"

"No, no, your timing is perfect."

Yuuto Mukai said as he pulled out credentials to hand over, and Duanmu Huai took them and nodded.

"Mr. Mukai, who are they?"

Professor Serizawa, having caught his breath, uneasily approached Yuuto Mukai and asked in a low voice. But before Yuuto Mukai could answer, Duanmu Huai spoke up.

"We are from the Dangerous Creatures Handling Company."

"......... Dangerous Creatures Handling Company?"

Hearing the unfamiliar name, Professor Serizawa paused.

"That's right, our company's main goal is to protect humans and eliminate any dangerous creatures that threaten human safety. You can rest assured; in this field, we are professionals!"

Admittedly, although Duanmu Huai's words sounded bizarre, combined with his outfit, he indeed looked quite professional.

"Then, please, we're counting on you."

Professor Serizawa was just a useless scholar who had never heard of the Dangerous Creatures Handling Company, but he wasn't surprised. After all, the mercenaries' circle was quite different from his own, so it was normal for him not to have heard about it. He simply nodded and said no more.

As for the Black Sea Company's mercenaries, they exchanged bewildered glances.

"Dangerous Creatures Handling Company?"

"Have you ever heard of them?"

"We haven't."

"Perhaps they handle different operations? We don't deal in that line of work either..."

"Maybe, look at their gear, man... I want it too..."

Looking at Duanmu Huai's Power Armor, many mercenaries nearly drooled. As seasoned veterans, they could immediately see how amazing the Power Armor was. On the battlefield, it was just like a personal tank; who wouldn't want that?

Unfortunately... not everyone could have this.

Oh well, maybe once this mission is over, they can inquire about the Dangerous Creatures Handling Company?

If the conditions are good, they might as well switch jobs!
