Since the news had already spread far and wide, Cali knew a lot about it, so Aegon and Xavier learned the whole matter through her. Still, Xavier didn't speak much as he was still surprised by Aegon's influence.
He was sure Aegon hadn't used the Augustus Family name, so how did he manage to get the information to the Emperor so quickly?
On the other hand, Aegon was left wondering about the entire situation. Apparently, the Emperor had spared some members of the Wanderwalt family who weren't too deeply involved in the crimes since it wouldn't look good if he slaughtered an entire noble bloodline.
But most of the family members were still heavily involved in far worse things, so they were executed publicly. Aegon knew the Emperor had done it in such a way to send a message throughout the Empire.
If any other noble family tried to do something similar, they would meet an even worse fate.
As for what would happen to the County now, it hadn't been decided yet.
'Is killing a noble this easy?' he wondered. 'Perhaps it wouldn't be easy on Earth where nobles have connections and power, but this is a magical world. Strength rules here. The Emperor also has the general populace on his side, so others can't do anything against him.'
"The heir of the Wanderwalt Family is in the Academy, by the way," Cali said. "He didn't even come out of his room today since he also received heavy backlash."
'Oh boy! I don't have a good feeling about this,' Aegon released a sigh upon hearing that. "I hope he doesn't turn out like his father."
"Yes, I also hope that," Xavier said before glancing at Aegon.
Aegon nodded at him in understanding and continued listening to Cali's chatter. She really didn't stop even for a second.
After walking for almost an hour, they finally stopped.
District 27, Western Borough.
It was the residential area for upper-middle-class families, so Aegon wasn't surprised that Cali had bought a house here. The house itself was two stories tall with a small lawn and a calm, comfortable atmosphere.
"You two can come here anytime you want, but I'd prefer it if you just live here," Cali said with a smile, but Aegon didn't like that smile.
It was as if she was forcing it.
'What happened to her?' he wondered, confused. But he knew she wouldn't easily tell him, so he didn't ask.
He just had to use other methods to find out the reason behind her strange behavior.
"Sis, I would love to live with you," Xavier said, his voice filled with emotion. "But I have to leave for the outer world. I can't live with you."
"Xav!" Cali cried out dramatically.
Aegon ignored the two acting like children and entered the room he was given. It was quite spacious and comfortable, with a smooth blend of gray and black, just how he liked it.
'I really have silly friends,' he smiled at the gesture and began unpacking things from his storage ring.
That was when Cali entered his room, and her eyes visibly shook upon seeing so many things scattered around. She took a moment before asking,
"...Are you really staying here?"
"Why? You don't want me to?" Aegon asked in return as he set his suits neatly inside the wardrobe.
"N-No, of course not. I'm very happy," Cali smiled widely, and this time, her smile was genuine and from the heart. Anyone could see that.
She skipped over to Aegon and hugged him from behind. "Thank you! I didn't waste my love on you."
Aegon chuckled but didn't say anything.
'How can I leave after this? You even made this room according to my taste.'
He couldn't bring himself to disappoint her after she had put so much effort into making him feel comfortable.
"Don't you want to experience dormitory life?" Xavier asked as he also began helping him set things in order… but only ended up making a bigger mess.
"Don't touch my things, idiot!" Aegon smacked a book on his head and said. "Get out of the room. I want to live in a human house, not a garbage disposal pit."
"Did you just indirectly say I live in garbage?" Xavier's lips twitched as he slowly backed away.
"No!" Aegon said, and when Xavier relaxed slightly, he added, "It was direct and right to your face."
"Hahaha!"
Xavier almost stormed out of the house as Cali burst into laughter at his expense.
"Oh, about your question," Aegon said. "I can just live there next year if I want to, or get a room whenever I feel like spending time at the dorms. But why would I bother when I have Cali here?"
"Yup yup! You can freeload all you want!" Cali nodded eagerly. "Although I don't receive much from home, I've earned more than enough to support you two."
'That's clear from the fact you managed to buy a house in such a good area,' Aegon thought before asking, "How many shops did you rob?"
"Not many. Just one per month," Cali replied playfully without missing a beat.
"Can I join you two on your next heist?" Xavier asked, rubbing his hands together with a wide grin.
Aegon and Cali looked at each other for a moment before answering in unison.
"No, even a mosquito could catch you."
"They'd probably pay us out of sympathy for having to deal with someone like you."
"Fuck you two!! Bullying me the moment you two meet each other again!"
Aegon and Cali burst out laughing at his fuming expression, which didn't last long, as Xavier also broke into laughter a moment later.
'I really missed you two,' Aegon thought. 'The best thing about getting reborn is being able to form connections like this again.'
"Oh yeah, do you want to take a tour of the Academy?" Xavier asked after some time. "The entrance exam starts tomorrow, so we can get familiar with the place first."
"He's giving the entrance exam?" Cali asked in confusion. "He can get admission without it though, right? Heck, the Academy would beg him to join with his talent."
Xavier knew she was right. The whole world was aware of the terrifying talent of Aegon Valeria Augustus, so it wouldn't be surprising if the Academy took the initiative to recruit him themselves.
"I just want to take the exam," Aegon answered. 'So many people used to cry about exams in my previous life. I never got to experience what it truly felt like to take one properly but now I can, even if it's a bit different.'
He shook his head lightly and said,
"I want to see the Academy."
