10x Rewards: Becoming Invincible With My Sign-in System

Chapter 63: Dusk City

The people who almost turned into slaves repeatedly thanked Xavier and Aegon, some even bowing at their feet in gratitude before leaving with Miguel.

Aegon was a bit uncomfortable with them doing so much, so he quickly sent them off with Miguel. As soon as the help from Grandpa Sam arrived, Miguel would withdraw and return to him.

The Red Viel could somehow stay with him all the time and also travel quickly back to him whenever needed.

After that, they once again restarted their journey toward Dusk City, where the Supreme Apostle Academy was situated.

On the way, the two of them remained silent for a while, lost in their own thoughts over the matter.

It was Xavier who broke the silence first.

"I am sorry, Gon," he said, bowing his head. "My rash actions could have landed us in serious trouble. I acted on instinct."

"Emotions," Aegon corrected him. "You rely too much on your emotions. You saw those people getting beaten up and treated like monsters, and you jumped in to save them without thinking."

This was actually a big flaw of Xavier and also the reason why Bailish scolded him so much. He was too emotional, and even after years, he hadn't improved much in that aspect.

"I know," Xavier sighed. "But I really wanted to save them."

"Raise your head first, idiot." Aegon snorted and leaned back, letting the wind mess with his hair. "Also, I was wrong in this too."

"Huh?"

"I've developed a habit of thinking too much about everything," Aegon admitted. "While I still agree that gathering information first is usually the better thing to do, I could have done what I did from the start."

"Restrain both sides?" Xavier asked, remembering what Aegon had done.

"Yes. I could see that I had the power to stop both sides, but I still hesitated, and that's my mistake," Aegon answered, closing his eyes. "I had the power to stop both sides and then gather information. Why let the torture continue?"

"Indeed, you did make a great mistake," Xavier nodded with a smile, but all he received in return was a sharp slap on the head. "Ouch! What was that for? I already admitted to my mistakes and will definitely improve on it."

"No, you don't," Aegon slapped him again and said with full seriousness. "Do you even know how much trouble you could have caused today?"

"Count Wanderwalt?" Xavier guessed as he slowly realized his mistake.

"Yes, you're the Crown Prince of the Moonrise Kingdom, not some random adventurer," Aegon scolded him, clearly angry about this blunder. "Your one impulsive decision could have caused endless trouble for the Moonrise Kingdom."

Xavier lowered his head in shame.

"Even if we consider the best scenario, where the Emperor deals with the Count after we report him, there are still many people who have connections with him and would try to take revenge on the Moonrise Kingdom."

Xavier shrank back even more.

He also realized why Aegon insisted on taking matters into his own hands. Unlike him, Aegon was from the Augustus family. He had a completely different status, so nobody would dare pursue him even if things went south.

As someone who had visited the Empire many times, Xavier was very familiar with the sheer influence of the Augustus Family. Even a Duke wouldn't dare take revenge on them carelessly, let alone a Count.

Aegon stared at his friend and sighed. He went over to his side and patted his back, "Don't be so down, man. I just need you to realize the position you're in and how your actions can impact so many people. You do realize that Uncle will also side with you on this, right?"

"I know," Xavier said, still looking down with a solemn expression. "That's the biggest problem, isn't it? He has such high expectations of me, and all I do is cause trouble for him."

"Troubles he's willing to endure," Aegon said with a small smile. "So do well and become the king the Moonrise Kingdom needs."

"I will," Xavier spoke in a low voice, but there was a strange glow in his eyes filled with resolve.

Aegon forced him to look up and said, "Also, you have me holding your back, so why do you always falter so much?"

"Aegon…"

"But you might just be brain-dead, so you can't control your legs properly."

"Aegon!"

"Yes?"

"GIVE ME BACK MY EMOTIONS!!"

….

It took another day for them to reach Dusk City. As they drew closer to the city, they noticed some changes in their surroundings or to be precise, in the sky.

As if time itself was running faster, the closer they got to the city, the faster the sun drifted toward the horizon at an incredible rate.

Even though it should have been only a few hours into the morning, Aegon noticed the sun already going past the Scar of Sky, which seemed to cut the heavens perfectly in half.

"What a wonderful phenomenon!" Aegon muttered in astonishment, his eyes locked on the sun.

The bright sunlight didn't affect him in any way.

"Isn't it?" Xavier grinned, sharing the same sentiments as Aegon. "Through some mystical means, Dusk City was suspended in a fixed time of dusk or it would be better to say that the city is stuck in the moment of dusk."

Aegon still stared at the sun going down rapidly and said, "No night, no darkness."

"Yup. It's always dusk in that city, just like how it's always dawn in the capital of the Empire," Xavier explained. "The closer one gets to the city, the more they're affected by this magic. That's what we're witnessing right now."

"I wanna study it," Aegon declared all of a sudden.

"Can't say I didn't expect that. Many mages have tried, and some are still researching how it works," Xavier said. "But it's still a mystery to everyone. So you can try to find out how it works too."

"Hmm, I will."

Before long, the sun dropped completely to the horizon as they arrived before the famous commercial capital of the Great Solar Empire—Dusk City.

Someone was already waiting for them there.

"Little Gon~"

Aegon groaned in annoyance, 'Aghh! Not again! Why did she have to be the one to pick us up?'
