Masterful Miracle Doctor

Chapter 049 Sabotage

"Dance?"

Facing An Kemeng's invitation, Lin Jie felt a bit uneasy. He initially thought she was joking, but it turned out to be real. However, he didn't know how to dance.

He quickly asked in his mind, "Sister Lanruo, you must know how to dance, right? So, do you think I've received any of your memories on dancing?"

A soft laugh from Shen Lanruo echoed in his mind, "I don't know about that, but you'll find out if you try. It's not gentlemanly to keep a lady waiting."

Under An Kemeng's cheerful invitation, Lin Jie, without a definite answer, scratched his head in embarrassment and softly said, "An Kemeng, I've never danced with a girl before, and I don't really know how."

"Hehe, dancing is easy, I can teach you."

An Kemeng boldly took Lin Jie's hand, and under the watchful eyes of several young men, they walked to the center of the hall.

With the melodious music playing, Lin Jie placed his left hand on An Kemeng's waist and, following the rhythm of the music, naturally took the first step, then the second...

Steps, spins, changes in tempo, and all the memories associated with this dance floated up in Lin Jie's mind and were reflected in his movements.

Lin Jie breathed a sigh of relief, feeling secretly grateful that he had regained the memory, managing not to embarrass himself.

Just as he was about to withdraw his focus, he suddenly noticed An Kemeng's tight little face, devoid of any happiness.

He immediately understood the reason and quickly explained, "An Kemeng, I'm not lying to you, you really are the first girl I've danced with."

He further made up, "To prepare for the dance, I practiced at home for two days, always holding a teddy bear. I was always worried about stepping on your foot, but never expected that dancing with you would be so coordinated, and I wasn't nervous at all."

"Really?"

Though An Kemeng's tone was a bit cold, her expression started to brighten up.

Lin Jie quickly nodded, saying, "Of course it's true, why would I lie to you."

"Humph, my sister says men can't be trusted."

Though she said that, a smile appeared on An Kemeng's face.

By this time, the entire hall had turned into a lively dance floor, with pairs of young boys and girls or young men and women dancing gracefully.

Lin Jie also saw An Kexin dancing with Ren Jianzhong on the dance floor.

Seeing Ren Jianzhong looking lecherously at An Kexin, Lin Jie felt uncomfortable and thought to himself that he couldn't let a beautiful flower be stuck on a hypocritical pile of manure.

Lin Jie softly asked, "Do you know that Ren Jianzhong dancing with your sister now?"

An Kemeng looked over and then turned back, saying, "I don't know him, never met before. Maybe met in the business field. Since my sister took over part of the business, some guys have been trying to impress her."

Only then did Lin Jie realize he didn't know what business the An Family was in.

After asking a couple of questions, he found out that the An Family mainly produced and sold some medical equipment like syringes, IV tubes, urine bags, etc. They also had a medical equipment distribution company, selling well-known international brand equipment such as various surgical microscopes and MRI machines.

Knowing this about the An Family's business, Lin Jie grew a bit more concerned.

Doing business domestically, connections are crucial. If that Professor Ren Maoshi is indeed as impressive as Ren Jianzhong says, perhaps An Kexin might agree to Ren Jianzhong's pursuit for the sake of the company's interests.

"Brother Jie, do you know that person?" An Kemeng asked curiously.

Lin Jie nodded and said, "I've dealt with him a few times, he's an arrogant, unprincipled guy who flatters the high and tramples the low. He's not someone worth keeping in touch with."

Taking advantage of An Kemeng's inquiry, Lin Jie took the opportunity to harshly degrade Ren Jianzhong.

An Kemeng laughed with a snort and asked, "Did this guy offend you or something?"

"Kind of," Lin Jie replied.

In truth, Lin Jie's entanglement with Ren Jianzhong had happened twice.

Once was at Limin Hospital, where Ren Jianzhong mocked him in public, and the other time was a failed negotiation, where Ren Jianzhong made some disparaging remarks about him.

Overall, it wasn't such a huge animosity.

But sometimes life's odd like that.

Fights that seem like nothing end up forming deep friendships, while a mere short exchange can turn into lifelong enmity.

Lin Jie felt like he and Ren Jianzhong were simply incompatible, destined not to get along.

An Kemeng stifled her laughter, and with a stern little face, said, "If he's offended Brother Jie, he's offended me, I will tell my sister not to bother with him anymore."

As one dance ended, three young men rushed over, pushing Lin Jie aside to invite An Kemeng to the next dance.

Seeing this, Lin Jie politely declined An Kemeng's invitation for the next dance and took a drink from the passing waiter before turning to leave.

"Lin Jie."

Hearing that annoying voice again, Lin Jie had to stop and look at the approaching Ren Jianzhong dismayedly.

"We really do have a lot of fate, always meeting unexpectedly."

Looking at the sarcastically smiling Ren Jianzhong, Lin Jie helplessly said, "You have to believe me, just like you, I don't appreciate this kind of fate at all."

Ren Jianzhong got a bit closer to Lin Jie and whispered, "Here's a piece of news for you. That opinion of yours at Limin Hospital about letting tumors grow a bit longer has been published in a prominent medical journal, the 'Chinese Journal of Surgery,' as a correspondence in a medical discussion."

"The article is credited to Limin Hospital's Neurosurgery Department, with not a mention of you."

He said somewhat gloatingly, "Now that you know, do you regret it?"

Lin Jie appeared indifferent, saying, "As long as it's not published under my name, I've got no problem. As the saying goes, 'money can't buy my contentment.'"

"Besides, thanks to you last night, I made quite a bit. That measly five thousand, fifteen thousand, I couldn't care less about."

Ren Jianzhong was so angry he ground his teeth, glared at Lin Jie, and threatened, "Lin Jie, just you wait, you'd better hope I never get anything on you, and you hope you never need anything from me."

With that, Ren Jianzhong stormed off angrily.

This scene was caught by An Weize and his brother-in-law Professor Chen Shi, who were conversing in a corner of the hall.

Professor Chen Shi regrettably said, "If not for his health issues, with Lin Jie's abilities, he would undoubtedly grow to be a national treasure-level expert, sigh..."

Seeing the angry departure of Ren Jianzhong, Professor Chen Shi furrowed his brow and muttered, "So there's a conflict between Ren Jianzhong and Lin Jie?"

He pondered for a moment and then told An Weize, "This Ren Jianzhong, from what I observed last night, is somewhat arrogant and conceited, showing too much of his sharpness."

"You should remind Kexin, if she is truly interested in him, she should observe and evaluate carefully."
