"Still five points short?"
Qin Yang frowned, somewhat dissatisfied.
Seeing this, the three girls wished they could punch this guy, as this score was already high enough to get into any university in the country.
At this moment, Lu Bingyao felt speechless as well. Qin Yang had talked to her before about aiming to be the top scorer, and she had dismissed it, not expecting he actually had such potential.
"Actually, if it were the actual college entrance exam, and the teachers were grading it, Qin Yang's score might not be lower than the top scorer's."
Su Qingqing couldn't hide her astonishment, her beautiful eyes fixed on Qin Yang, and she suddenly spoke up.
Upon hearing this, Lu Bingyao and Sun Tiantian exchanged a glance and unconsciously nodded slightly.
Qin Yang's handwriting was graceful and flowing, each stroke captivating. Just looking at his paper was a pleasure, and they were sure the teachers grading the exam wouldn't be as strict as they were.
For the Chinese essay, Su Qingqing and the others deducted ten points from Qin Yang, apparently a bit too harshly. For the reading comprehension and overall humanities paper, they assessed point by point very strictly, without a hint of mercy.
Among the three, Su Qingqing was the best student, but even she estimated her score would be about the same as Qin Yang's.
"Don't worry, if I want to, the top scorer won't slip out of my grasp."
Qin Yang looked at the three girls, smiling with strong confidence in his voice.
"You're dreaming, but we're really looking forward to you becoming the top scorer."
Sun Tiantian's beautiful eyes gleamed as she teased, laughing softly. She liked Qin Yang's confident demeanor.
In the next two days, Qin Yang continued to study at school, and his knowledge was very solid. By the third day, around four in the afternoon, school was over.
Then Qin Yang saw a scene that stunned him. The seniors tossed all the papers they had worked on over the three years from the upper floors, and the pure white sheets piled thick in front of the school building. Many students were tearing up books, releasing the pent-up frustration accumulated throughout senior year.
In some sense, these papers and torn books served as witnesses to their youthful years.
The weather was gradually getting hotter, and the cicadas began their chorus.
June 7th, the day finally arrived.
A little after eight in the morning, near the exam site at No. 19 Middle School, gathered a crowd of students, parents, and accompanying teachers. The exam center for most of Qin Yang's classmates was here.
Qin Yang, Guo Xiaobin, and the three girls, Lu Bingyao, Sun Tiantian, and Su Qingqing were chatting leisurely near a willow tree, waiting to enter.
Qin Yang turned his gaze and saw two familiar figures.
"Dad, Mom, why are you here?"
Qin Yang was taken aback to find Qin Weimin and Cheng Suqin had come.
"The college entrance exam is a big event in your life, how could your parents not come?"
Cheng Suqin glared at Qin Yang with faux annoyance. This brat hadn't told them at all about the exam today; she had found out the location from his class teacher instead.
"Don't worry, Mom, the college entrance exam is a piece of cake for me. I can choose any university across the country."
Qin Yang's eyes shone with confidence, saying, with this body, he wanted his ordinary parents to be proud of him.
"You, just do your best. If you get into the third tier, mom will be so happy she can't close her mouth."
Upon hearing this, Cheng Suqin immediately smiled happily.
Qin Yang's lips twitched slightly. Could this old mom have higher expectations for him?
"Oh? Who are these?"
Cheng Suqin's eyes shifted, landing on Su Qingqing, Lu Bingyao, and Sun Tiantian behind Qin Yang, noticing all three girls were quite pretty.
"They're my classmates."
Qin Yang replied.
"Hello, Auntie."
Under Cheng Suqin's gaze, the three girls felt a bit shy, even the typically cold-faced Lu Bingyao became a little unnatural.
"Alright, alright, hello, if there's time, have Yangyang bring you over to our house to play. Auntie will make delicious food for you."
Cheng Suqin's eyes brightened, smiling broadly, evidently delighted three pretty girls sweetly called her Auntie.
Qin Yang knew just from Cheng Suqin's look what her old mom's scheme was.
"Yangyang, you should spend more time with classmates. Often bring them over to play."
Cheng Suqin said with a smile to Qin Yang; she knew her own son well. Though good-looking, he used to only fight and tease girls, and no girl wanted to befriend him. He had been called to parents many times. Unlike now, when three pretty girls wanted to be friends with him.
"Okay."
Qin Yang's lips twitched again, unsure which one his old mom fancied.
With about half an hour left until exam time, candidates had to enter the venue for the nine o'clock start of the first language exam.
Multiple choice questions were a piece of cake for Qin Yang, especially those involving pronunciation, word structure, and idioms. He could find answers just by searching his memory.
Qin Yang moved quickly through classical and modern reading sections. After a glance, he could tell what they were about, not needing to spend time on them. In forty minutes, he completed everything except the essay, which he then started writing wholeheartedly.
For the college entrance essay, the first point is to fit the theme, the second is neat handwriting, both essential.
After thinking carefully for ten minutes, Qin Yang began writing. More than half an hour later, he finished a graceful, beautifully phrased essay.
He spent another ten minutes reviewing it, and, finding no issues, confidently clipped the answer sheet aside. Even with forty minutes left, finishing early meant waiting at least thirty minutes before handing in the exam.
Qin Yang lay on his seat for ten minutes, and once the half-hour mark arrived, he swiftly got up and left.
"Turning in early, a genius or just crazy..."
"Probably doesn't study well, knowing no chance of college, just putting on a show."
"..."
Many candidates had such fleeting thoughts, but Qin Yang didn't care what they thought. The exam regulations stated no one could leave the campus until the exam was over, so he leisurely wandered inside.
The afternoon exam was math, with a two-hour question set. Qin Yang finished all the problems in an hour, then spent half an hour reviewing twice. With certainty, Qin Yang handed in his paper early.
It must be said, even though the math questions were tough this time, Qin Yang verified all of them three times. Scoring full marks shouldn't be a problem.
After all, he was a cultivator, and arrays and runes were far more complex than math, there's no denying Qin Yang's logical computational ability was very strong.
Qin Yang leisurely walked to the school gate and noticed a lot of student parents anxiously peeking through the iron bars outside.
Although the sun wasn't too harsh now, it was still quite hot. These parents must have been waiting since before it began.
