Zombie Girls Revival System

Chapter 35: SYSTEM ERROR—Old System Overridden. New System Installed.

Her eyes were pure white, glowing faintly in the dim. Even in death, her beauty… it hadn't…rotted away.

Her flesh was smooth, her pale grayish skin unblemished by decay. Her curves were striking, massive breasts straining against the lace of her wedding dress, a narrow waist that flared out to hips and thighs that begged to be touched.

Unlike the game animation, this time she was rendered in real life... every detail aesthetically explicit. She wasn't grotesque, not like the others. She was hauntingly intact, almost divine in her preservation.

Sid's breath caught, his usual bravado slipping the moment he saw her. His whole body locked up, like a player frozen mid-game. He stood there, mouth slightly open, brain struggling to process, as if his connection had dropped and the world around him lagged to a standstill.

"Why… why do I feel like this…? She looks… so real… I—"

His mind kept repeating the same thing over and over.

"I am not a necrophile. I am not a necrophile"

His heartbeat pounded in his ears, faster, harder, louder. He felt the weight of the shotgun slung against his shoulder, yet his arms wouldn't respond. His body was frozen, as if chained down by some invisible command.

"I am not a necrophile, I am not… I am not… I am not."

The Zombie Bunny Bride's steps were slow but steady, each one echoing off the cracked marble like a tolling bell. Sid's chest heaved; his breaths came short. He mouthed his mantra:

"I am not a necrophile. I am not a necrophile. I am NOT."

She closed in… one step, then the next and reached the bottom of the altar stairs. One stair left between them. He forced his breathing even and hammered a final line into himself:

"I will prove I'm not sick. I will end this."

Sid's body finally jolted back to life, adrenaline breaking through the paralysis. His hand shot to his shoulder, fingers gripping the strap. With a hard pull, he swung the shotgun into his grasp, racking it. His teeth clenched. His eyes burned.

"If I kill you now… if I put you down, once and for all—then I prove it. I'm not sick. I'm not what they called me!"

He lifted the shotgun, aiming it square at her head. But the bride didn't stop. She stepped up the stair, and her body pressed forward, closing the last of the distance.

Thud.

Her breast collided with the cold steel of the shotgun's mouth, the soft weight of her form pushing the weapon back against Sid's hold. The veil shifted with her movement, brushing against his hands. Her cold breath spilled over the barrel and onto his skin.

Sid's arms trembled, his finger tightening on the trigger. His mind screamed at him to fire, to end it, to prove once and for all that he wasn't what the world mocked him to be. He could almost feel the whole world watching him again, the same way it had back then.

Then his HUD flickered, and a blue box appeared in front of his eyes.

[Main Mission: Confront the Zombie Bunny Bride in the Cathedral]

[Objective: Face your unresolved desires and necrophilic urges by standing before her.

"Stop! Stop reminding me what to do! This will end it! This will end those lies, those urges everyone keeps talking about!"

The blue box flashed again and again, blocking his aim as if it wanted to hold him back.

"Don't screw with me! I know what I have to do. I kill her, that's it! I'll show everyone, I'll show myself—that I can pull the trigger."

The Zombie Bunny Bride reached for him, but the barrel pressed against her chest kept her at bay. His finger tightened on the trigger, his whole body locked with raw tension. His voice rose, echoing through the cathedral like a desperate vow.

"No more freezing! No more hesitation! I'm not a necrophile, I'll prove it right now!"

He braced himself and pulled, but in the last instant, his eyes flicked to her face. And as they locked with hers, something unexpected slipped into his mind.

Suddenly, her face shifted. Warped into someone familiar. She was smiling. Not a cruel smile, but one filled with joy. Real joy, the kind the world had stolen from her, now returned for a fleeting moment. Sid's determination broke at the sight. His body softened.

"Gana…"

The name slipped from his lips. His knees buckled, dropping him down. The shotgun fell with a heavy clang against the floor. A single tear slid down his cheek.

"Y… you reminded me of her… That's why I froze. That's why I couldn't pull the trigger. I couldn't admit it—not even to myself that every time I saw you, you were just like her."

His grip on the shotgun trembled, eyes unfocused as the memories bled through.

The weight of his words bent him lower, shoulders shaking as he tried to smother the sobs crawling up his throat. Above him, the Zombie Bunny Bride leaned closer, her mouth parting, the faint groan of hunger vibrating from her throat. She reached for him, her shadow swallowing him whole.

And then… time broke.

The air froze solid. Dust in the cathedral hung midair, unmoving. Even the bride's reach halted an inch from his shoulder. Sid's tear hit the floor in silence, spreading ripples across reality itself. His breath hitched.

"What the—what is happening?"

His eyes darted, wide and frantic. A jagged red box burst across his HUD, glitching, words stuttering like a broken voice.

[SYSTEM ERROR—]

The letters twisted, tore themselves apart, then reformed.

[SYSTEM MESSAGE]

[Updating system… 3…2…1. Success. Old system overridden. New system installed.]

"What—installed? A new system?"

Then, another window erupted across his vision. This one was unlike anything he had ever seen. No neat blue frame. No sterile white font. This one was alive. Blood-red letters bled down the screen, dripping and reforming. Dark green veins coiled through the edges of the box, glowing faintly like rot. A mist of cold blue smoke seeped out, curling at the corners.
