Super Soldier in Campus

Chapter 18 Bizarre Lin Feng_1

"Except for the score of 125, there's nothing else."

Lin Feng carefully examined his test paper again. It was certainly his exam, the one he had taken. Could there be a problem?

"Lin Feng, don't play dumb. It's your own test paper; you should know," Cao Ying snapped from the podium, looking somewhat angry. She continued, "Look at the end of your paper. Heh, two essays, and you didn't write a single word for either of them! What's going on?!"

GASP!

All the classmates instantly sucked in a cold breath. Lin Feng hadn't written the English essays?

How could he possibly have scored 125 points then?

Yang Tao dumbfoundedly counted on his fingers, "Two English essays, one long and one short. The short one is 10 points, the long one is 15 points. English is out of 150 points. So, 150 minus 10, minus 15... Damn, Boss didn't lose a single point on the earlier sections?! That's... that's too uncanny..."

All the students stared at Lin Feng, the person in question, in awe. He, however, showed no reaction, merely giving Cao Ying a silly smile.

"On the day of the English exam, my stomach felt a bit upset," Lin Feng said innocently. "I planned to use the restroom and then come back to write the essays. Unfortunately, I spent too long in there, and by the time I returned, they were already collecting the papers."

"You think that's a good excuse?" Cao Ying sneered. She had already found out that during the English test, Lin Feng hadn't visited the restroom even once. Moreover, he had finished his paper and fallen asleep about 30 minutes into the exam. How could he possibly have had a stomachache?

"Believe it or not, Teacher Cao, I can't control a stomachache." Lin Feng put on a pitiful expression. If he had written the essays, the score would have been freakishly high. For now, Lin Feng wanted to keep a low profile, but he also didn't want to lose his bet with Cao Ying.

"You, you... I just don't know how you managed to get this score!"

Cao Ying's glare was fixed on Lin Feng, a sense of exasperation welling up inside her. How did Lin Feng's English grade suddenly skyrocket like this? It's too incredible!

Of course, this development greatly pleased Cao Ying. After all, the school had assigned her to oversee Lin Feng. Any improvement in his grades during this period could be credited as her achievement, regardless of whether she had actually guided him.

If Lin Feng had written the essays, his total English score would surely exceed 140 points. Then, at the next school-wide teachers' meeting... Cao Ying felt a thrill of excitement just thinking about it. If Lin Feng's English score leaped from 35 to 140 points, it would be nothing short of a miracle!

And she would be known as the creator of this miracle. This was a very important plus for her in becoming a tenured teacher at Jiangzhou No. 1 Middle School after her internship. Of course, Lin Feng's current score of 125 was already enough to shock all the teachers and students in the school.

As the beautiful teacher stared at him with a peculiar expression, Lin Feng gave an odd smile and said meaningfully, "Teacher Cao, no matter how I got this score, it still exceeds 120 points, right?"

After saying this, Lin Feng smiled radiantly, his face bearing its typical, harmless-looking smile.

"Darn it..." Watching Lin Feng cheerfully deflect her, Cao Ying, of course, knew what he meant by that. She hadn't expected Lin Feng to actually score over 120. His rate of improvement was faster than a rocket!

Could Lin Feng have cheated? Impossible. Proctor Zhou watched him like a hawk during the exam; he had absolutely no opportunity. Then, could he have known the answers beforehand? Even more impossible. These exam papers were confidential ones purchased from the educational authorities; there was absolutely no chance of a leak... For a moment, Cao Ying was at a loss as to how Lin Feng had managed to achieve such an abnormal score.

After Lin Feng returned to his seat, strange glances were occasionally cast his way from around the classroom. He could feel that the slightly contemptuous and dismissive looks his classmates used to give him were gone.

"Second place, Tang Rou, 142 points..."

When Cao Ying read out Tang Rou's name from the podium, the class wasn't particularly surprised.

Tang Rou stood up from her seat and collected her exam paper. A score of 142 points felt a bit low to her. She had only scored a little over 120 points on the last monthly exam due to an uncharacteristic slip-up. Even now, scoring 142 with her usual effort, she wasn't satisfied. Given her abilities, even if she didn't get a perfect 150 in English, she should at least score above 145.

She looked down at her paper; on which her essay section only had 1 point deducted. The other 7 lost points were from errors in the multiple-choice questions. Looking at her mistakes, Tang Rou furrowed her lovely brows as well.

What if Lin Feng had written the essays...

This thought suddenly popped into her mind, and Tang Rou couldn't help but glance back at Lin Feng. Lin Feng hadn't made a single mistake in the earlier sections. At his level, it wasn't out of the question for him to only lose three or four points on the essays. If that were the case, Lin Feng would win their bet.

Could it be... he deliberately lost to me?

Everyone knew Lin Feng's story about the stomachache was false. And he couldn't possibly have forgotten to write two essays. The only explanation was that Lin Feng had intentionally not written them!

But why would he intentionally not write the essays? The more she thought about it, the more Tang Rou felt that Lin Feng had intended to lose to her, and a strange sense of joy welled up inside her...

...

After school that evening, Tang Rou, as was her habit, stayed for the last evening self-study session.

Not many students stayed for the final evening self-study session, so the classroom was about half empty. She was engrossed in her math homework when, suddenly, someone sat down next to her.

Startled, Tang Rou looked up, a hint of annoyance in her eyes. When she saw it was Lin Feng, her face instantly turned red, and her heart began to pound. This was the first time she had ever sat next to Lin Feng.

"Y-you, why are you staying for the evening self-study?" Tang Rou asked, her face blushing.

"A bet's a bet. I lost to you in the exam, so I have to accompany you to the evening self-study session, you know," Lin Feng placed his books on the desk, seemingly oblivious to Tang Rou's expression, and said nonchalantly.

Sitting next to Lin Feng, Tang Rou felt nervous. She looked up and saw her classmates whispering among themselves, occasionally casting strange glances their way. She felt a mixture of happiness and shyness.

Originally, Tang Rou had only wanted Lin Feng to stay for the final evening self-study session to encourage him to study more and improve his academic performance. She hadn't expected Lin Feng to actually sit right next to her. Could it be that...

Her face flushed to the tips of her ears. She deliberately pretended to be nonchalant and peeked sideways at Lin Feng out of the corner of her eye. He was reading but, sensing something, looked towards her. She immediately snatched her gaze away, her heart pounding furiously and her palms growing sweaty.
