After the fight with the Panther Violet wholy agreed to stay grounded for now and to continue exploring the highland they found themselves on. They still headed towards the East but they were in no rush and were happy to explore some on the way.

Another thing to note is that they opted to not use any active stealth, not to say they were purposely loud but they didnt want to keep running into low leveled beasts that gave them nothing when killed. So they opted for the direct approach, this did mean that they had to stay on alert more in case of ambush but even if they were ambushed it was unlikely that they would be instantly killed thanks to their high levels.

That is one thing they had noticed as they leveled up and particularly after evolving, whilst they could deal more damage their foes could also take much more damage in turn. So what would have been a killing blow to a lower leveled beast would now only be a debilitating blow. They imagined that this would work the same for them but were understandably not eager to find out the limits of their constitution.

During that day it was mostly quiet but they did get into a couple more fun fights. Once against another of the panthers but the unevolved version so the fight was over much quicker, still Luna did get a nasty cut on one arm as she was the one to be ambushed instead of Violet this time. The next fight was against another of the magically immune bears or well two of them in this case.

It was quite the fun fight for them both as they were forced to go toe to toe, or claw to claw with them thanks to their peculiar ability to shrug off most magics, they two were under level 40 but one was lvl 39 and the other 37 so it was still a good fight.

For Violet she finally got a solid grasp on her new size, for her whole life she was often the smallest combatant. Always having to avoid head on collisions for fear of being instantly bawled over. But now she could finally put her strength to the test, she was still overwhelmed as it was one of her lowest stats but thanks to her size it was a much closer thing that it previously would have been.

The final fight was thankfully against another evolved monster and was the toughest of the day by far.

They had just heard the sound of running water in the distance and decided to head towards it to refill their supply and wash off any of the gunk that still clung to them after their fights.

The water was just in view when they spotted a small herd of deers. They opted to observe for some time at a distance, they counted around 15 of them and could feel they were reasonably strong. One on one it wouldn't be a fight but in such great numbers… yeah they were not eager to test that out. So it was with great surprise that they watched as one of the deer that was drinking from the river was suddenly attacked from the water.

A maw full of razor sharp teeth erupted from the fast flowing water and snapped shut over the deers head with a resounding crunch instantly killing the creature. This naturally startled the rest of the herd who bolted in fright and ran away leaving the dead behind.

Our companions then watched as a form made its way out of the river and onto dry land as it went about eating its meal. It was a large beast, easily 5 meters in length not counting the tail. It laid low to the ground and had short stubby legs that ended with wicked looking claws. Its body was covered with a thick scaly hide of a muddy brown colour that blended in with the mud around it.

The beast head was easily a meter from neck to snout and it had a elongated mouth that had quite the force behind it based on the frequent crunch and snap of bones being devoured.

Quickly glancing at each other to confirm they wanted this fight the two smiled and dove right into the battle. Luna utilised her own void step to appear right above the beast and lunched down with her ice encased spear only to frown in displeasure when all she achieved was a glancing blow as the tip skittered off from its protective hide.

Violet started with a shirt barrage of void spears and had marginally greater luck with that as they actually dug in before detonating.

BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.

She aimed for its head and upper body with her strikes and managed to get a roar of pain from the beast with her efforts. The beast however was not one to be put down so easily and quickly whipped its body around to try to bite at the pesky girl standing on its back. Luna dove backward to try and get out of the way but still suffered a glancing blow along her leg, the bite tore through her protective leathers and took a chunk from her thigh for her troubles.

Seeing this violet upped the ante and continuously bombarded the beast with a mix of void spears and bolts whilst multicasting her void cannon knowing it will take a while to charge up.

That caught the beasts attention and it swiftly ignored Luna in favour of charging at Violet. It was surprisingly quick and to Violet's annoyance it seemed to cost itself in a layer of water that seemed to greatly reduce the damaged her attacks dealt to the beast. When it got up close after surviving the bimbardment her cannon was not yet charged and she opted to clash head on to buy time for it instead of fleeing.

CRASH! ROARR!

So it was that Dragon and Crocodile clashed. Violet managed to dodge the initial bite and got her head under its head forcing the beast up to stand on its hind legs whilst each of their front claws bent to work tearing into each other. Luna had managed to recover slightly and opted to stay in the back with magical support, her Arctic fury was unleashed and a continual stream of icicles bombarded the back of the giant beast unleashing a fierce roar from it.

When her spell was fully charged however Violet quickly void stepped backwards and unleashed the beam of destruction and managed to take out a huge chunk from its side. In the process removing both limbs from that side. From their it was relatively simple to fully put the beast down securing the victory and a new level for them both.
