"Brother Sun, look. I was just saying we could go diving today." Tian Xiwei handed her phone to Sun Dasheng.
Sun Dasheng glanced at it before handing it back. "Nothing new under the sun."
"That's just reckless disregard for human life!" Tian Xiwei said, fuming. She was so angry because she had almost gone there herself, so she could empathize deeply.
"Hmph! They won't get away with this for long," Ding Muchen added, equally furious. "Now that it's all over the news, the authorities will definitely crack down on them."
In the end, they skipped diving and decided to go skydiving instead.
「At a skydiving center.」
"Skydiving won't be like diving, will it? Where they jack up the prices by leveraging the danger?" Having been tricked once, Tian Xiwei was now twice as cautious.
"That won't happen," Ding Muchen explained. "When you skydive, an instructor jumps with you. If you're in danger, they can't escape either. It's different from diving. Those operators use their expert skills to lead less experienced swimmers into deep water. Then they threaten them into buying their illicit goods. The tourists are in real danger, but the operators are perfectly safe."
"I see!" Tian Xiwei said, finally relieved.
Even for Sun Dasheng, who was skydiving for the first time, his legs still trembled slightly as he jumped. Despite his incredible physical condition, it was a pure, instinctual reaction. However, once he was in the air, the thrill of plummeting toward the earth was exhilarating. At the proper altitude, the instructor deployed the parachute, and they landed safely.
"Mr. Sun, you're the calmest first-timer I've ever seen," the instructor remarked, thoroughly impressed.
"Heh, maybe I was just born with more courage than most," Sun Dasheng said with a smile.
He then walked over to the two women, who had already landed. As he got closer, he could hear them squealing with excitement.
"Brother Sun, skydiving is so much fun! I want to go again!" Tian Xiwei exclaimed, jumping up and down.
"Alright, calm down. We can come back another time. It's not something you should do multiple times in one day. Your body can't handle it."
"Okay then..."
「By the time they returned to the hotel, it was already dark.」
That night, the three of them tacitly decided not to sleep, sitting together on the living room sofa to watch a TV drama. The show playing on TV was the web series Tian Xiwei had just starred in. To be honest, the plot was a bit boring. It was a cheesy historical romance, the kind of show Sun Dasheng couldn't get into at all. The two women, however, were completely engrossed.
"Wei Wei, you look so beautiful in this show!" Ding Muchen said, shaking her friend's arm.
"Hehe... I had this Hanfu specially customized. It cost a pretty penny," Tian Xiwei boasted.
"Your makeup is beautiful, too! Which renowned artist did it for you?"
"It was Mao Geping!"
"Wow! So it was him! I knew there was something special about that makeup. No ordinary artist could pull that off."
Sun Dasheng wasn't interested in their girlish chatter. He yawned and said, "You two carry on. I'm going to head to bed."
"Mm-hmm," the two women nodded in unison.
Not long after Sun Dasheng left, Ding Muchen feigned sleepiness. "Wei Wei, I'm exhausted from today. I'm going to head to bed first."
"Sure! Bye!" Tian Xiwei could hardly wait for her to leave. Now she could go find her man.
She watched a little more TV, then turned it off and quietly went upstairs, heading toward the room on the far left. Just as she reached the door, ready to push it open and surprise him, she was the one who got a surprise instead.
When she heard faint moans coming from inside, her face instantly turned pale. Her body went limp and she bumped against the door. THUMP.
The sound wasn't very loud, so Ding Muchen, lost in the heat of the moment, didn't hear it. But Sun Dasheng, with his sharp senses, did.
Damn it, he thought, a headache already forming. That has to be Tian Xiwei at the door. She found out. This is going to be a mess.
"Brother Sun, why did you stop?" Ding Muchen asked, looking back from her position on the bed.
"Oh, I just remembered some unfinished business at the company and got distracted for a second," he said, starting to move again.
Well, the cat's out of the bag. I might as well deal with this one first.
Sun Dasheng was particularly vigorous, leaving her utterly spent. Soon after they finished, Ding Muchen fell into a deep sleep.
Once things were settled there, he tiptoed to the middle room, Tian Xiwei's. He tried the door, but it was locked. Looks like she's really angry.
He knocked gently. "Wei Wei, open up. It's me!" Still, there was no response.
Helpless, he returned to his room and stepped onto the balcony, intending to have a smoke. He suddenly noticed that the neighboring balcony wasn't too far away. He extinguished his cigarette, stood on the edge of his own balcony, and with a light leap, jumped across.
He smiled upon landing on her balcony. Her French door wasn't even closed, so he walked right in.
The room was empty, save for a lump huddled under the covers on the bed.
He knew it. She was hiding under the covers, crying.
He tiptoed over, slipped out of his clothes, and slowly lifted a corner of the blanket to slide in beside her. Slippery as an eel, he wrapped his arms tightly around her before she could react.
"Let go of me!" Tian Xiwei cried out, her voice laced with panic and fear.
The person holding her remained silent, which only made her struggle more violently. "I don't care who you are, let go of me right now! If my boyfriend next door finds out, he'll kill you!"
A voice, deliberately disguised, finally whispered in her ear. "Oh? Is he very strong?"
"Of course, he is! No one can beat him. Let go of me now if you value your life!"
