Star.
That was the familiar face.
He slowed down his steps as he got closer to them. He would rather not approach them, but his tour guide did not seem to share the same idea as he was clearly headed for them.
As they approached, Saquin evaluated her and her classmates.
Including her, there were six of them in total.
There was the familiar face of Pear, the Time affinity guy and the Darkness user who had forced him to retreat before. The two unfamiliar faces were that of another young beautiful lady and a bulky young man whose eyes were completely shut.
Saquin felt that the aura of the young bulky man was inherently different from the other classmates. It was more like the aura he felt from Shadow Agent and his partner. It seems he was a step higher in Senar level than the rest, though, it seems the Dark Prince and Star were stronger or at least on par.
It seems they were here for a tour of the facility just as he was.
It did not take long for the group to notice the approaching duo, they took their eyes off the History Board that their tour guide was introducing to them to check out the newcomer.
"Is that?" Kentra blinked in surprise.
"Yep, it is definitely him." Star could not hold back the smile on her face.
Pear on the sideline was seething, it took her all to not attack Saquin immediately.
"Hey." Saquin waved at them as he closed in. A couple of days ago, he would not dare do such a thing, but now? "How are guys doing?"
"You know the guy?" The bulky young man opened his eyes and stared at the incoming Saquin.
"He is the handsome devil, Fire." Pear spat out through gritted teeth.
"I see." Fire nodded in acknowledgement. "I really can't feel a thing..." He leaned in towards Nate, the Dark Prince.
Saquin was like a blank state to his senses, he could not feel an ounce of aura. He had no reference to his true strength. It was strange. He had met heirs like him in the past and even though he could not tell their strength, they were more of a black hole, devouring his senses.
"He really is a handsome devil." Samantha, the last of the group, nudged Star.
"Since it seems you guys are already acquainted, I see no problem with you all continuing the tour as a single group." Saquin's tour guide said as they finally made contact.
The classmates' tour guide turned to look at them, asking for their opinions with his gaze.
"Definitely no wa-"
"I see no problem." Nate cut off Pear's reply.
"What?!" She turned to glare at him.
"Come on, Pear." Nate calmly talked to her. "See it as an opportunity for you guys to get along."
"Tch. Fine." Pear calmly gave in, but the glare she directed at Saquin was an indication that she was still at odds with him.
Saquin simply shrugged her off, not paying much attention to her. His attention was on Star, though his eyes were definitely not, his eyes roamed about not for once landing directly on her. He knew she was staring at him, probably even waiting for him to look at her, but he refused as he was sure if he did, he would not be able to hide his curious gaze.
One thing he was sure of was his curious gaze was not romantic.
No, it was psychopathic.
Serial killer vibes.
"Hi, I am Nate." The Dark Prince came forward to introduce himself. "We did not have the opportunity to meet earlier."
"I know who you are. You are quite popular, a lot of pretty girls fans." Saquin replied.
Nate let out a chuckle. "I do have my fair share of beauties fanning after me, but I definitely do not hold a candle to your Eminence."
"You don't even know me." Saquin tilted his head.
"With that face of yours, I do not need to know you to make a judgement." Nate replied. "You are really handsome."
"Pause," Saquin raised his hand. "You are weird."
"He kinda lacks social skills." Kentra stepped forward to help his friend. "Kentra Summer."
"Fairs." Saquin shrugged. "Well, I am Saquin."
"Saquin...?" Kentra stressed, waiting for the last name.
Saquin simply stared at him.
"My apologies. I was simply curious." Kentra folded under Saquin's intense stare.
Saquin just shrugged the apology off and turned towards the guide as if indicating to get on with the show.
The guide who had seen the play just now, knew better than to offend someone of Saquin's caliber.
During the tour, Saquin only half-listened to the guide. His focus was divided between the unsettling Senar fluctuations in the building's core and the magnetic pull of Star's presence.
He caught her looking at him several times, each time quickly averting his gaze with the intense, clinical focus of a scientist studying a rare specimen.
The tour took a couple more minutes before it was deemed finished. They were told they could hang around the facility as long as they liked though.
Presently, Saquin was in the cafeteria wolfing down food. Despite his speed of eating and the tremendous amount of meat he was consuming, he still maintained a hint of charm.
This charm pleased the women who were on their lunch break but angered the men. Not just the grown men, even kentra and Nate were looking at him with a bit of annoyance.
Star sat down at a corner of the cafeteria, beside her were her two close friends.
"He is avoiding eye contact." She pouted as she stuffed a green vegetable in her mouth.
"He is probably shy." Samantha commented.
"That fucker is not a shy fellow." Pear snickered.
"Pear!" Star glared at her friend. Pear had anger issues and she was not a fan of it, they have had many talks on matters like this, she had already lost count.
"What? It is not like he can hear me anyways, Sam put up the cloak." Pear retorted.
"This is not a matter of if he can hear us or not." Star scolded. "This is a matter of you not letting go of the grudge."
"Why should I?" Pear snorted.
"I don't know, maybe so you and us as a whole can have peace of mind. Plus you started it." Star explained.
"Tch, it doesn't matter who started it, all that matters is I get even. If Kentra had not used his ability, I would have had broken arms presently.." Pear hissed.
"I am stronger than you, how do you hope to ever get even?" The voice spooked the trio as Saquin appeared by Pear's seat.
Saquin almost let out a staggering laughter as he saw the black spheres floating around him. Nate had conjured them all immediately Saquin took off from his seat. He was steadily protecting the trio.
From his hindsight, he could also see Fire that had been ready to move in case Nate failed.
"What the fuck, you can hear us." Samantha said as she kept her guard up.
"I can." Saquin affirmed.
Pear stared at him with trepidation.
Seeing as she was not answering, his eyes finally wandered to Star.
As soon as their eyes met, Star bloomed into a smile.
"Hi beauty." He waved at her.
"Hello, handsome." Star flirted back.
He was at his limit. Ignoring her felt stupid. What was the worst that could happen? If his "curious gaze" freaked her out, so be it. He had to know why his bloodline pointed to her. He decided to stop overthinking and just talk to her.
It was definitely not because he had planned it all out that the moment he was meant to continue the conversation...
Voom!
A pulse of energy spread throughout the city.
The whole facility went red as alerts popped up all over the screen.
[ Access formation discovered.
Location: Central city.
Level: Tier 3.
Type: Unknown. ]
Everybody stood up in shock.
The cafeteria, once buzzing with chatter, fell into a stunned silence broken only by the blaring alarms.
A man in a lab coat dropped his tray, the clatter echoing loudly. "A Tier 3..." he whispered, face pale. "Inside the city... That's not possible. The shielding..." His voice was drowned out by a rising tide of panic. But most prominent emotion was disbelief.
"Fuck, this is impossible." Multiple voices sounded with the same notion.
Too bad, their disbelief would not change reality.
The reality that they were screwed.
