His Villainous Path: When Gods Break Silence

Chapter 40: Tiger: Nani

By the time Levi realized what was happening, his body was already halfway down the slanted hill, driven by a primal urge to flee.

'Wait! Wait!!'. Levi quickly fought the urge to run. His frantic escape stopped. 'I could use this to my advantage'. He thought.

The more he considered the invisible predator, the more the plan seemed invaluable. Not only would he get meat for survival, but he would also gain an undoubtedly powerful companion— a pawn with a dangerous ability.

'If it gets too dangerous, I am out of there'. He decided. With that thought, Levi turned and crept back toward the clearing.

He lay low in the slightly high grass, waiting. Seconds stretched into minutes, and the minutes wore on, but there was no sound, no shimmer, no hint of movement from the massive, invisible Siberian Tiger.

'Damn it, make your move already'. He thought, resisting the urge to shout the words out loud.

After a moment of silent, soured ranting, Levi lay still. 'Besides, how long can a tiger stay patient for?'. He would later come to regret that arrogant thought.

Time crawled by. Just as Levi was beginning to drowse off, the peaceful tension of the grazing animals suddenly broke. A cold wave of danger washed over the clearing.

The first to perceive the danger was the herd of antelopes, one after another, their heads snapped up, their ears swiveling. Their sudden alertness spread, instantly warning the rest of the creatures in the clearing.

Realizing its cover was blown, the tiger exploded into motion. A massive distortion in the air, a rippling outline the size of a small car, darted out from the tall grass.

It slammed into the neck of a large buffalo standing on the outer edge of it's pack.

The entire clearing burst into a frenzy, every animal ran for its life, the ground trembling under their panicked hooves.

The attacked buffalo roared, taking off even with the unseen predator still clinging to its neck. It charged toward a sparse line of trees, its massive head shaking violently. With a desperate, bone-jarring heave, the buffalo managed to fling the tiger off.

The invisible weight of the feral predator slammed into a nearby antelope, crushing the smaller animal's legs with the sheer force of the impact.

The antelope dropped with a sickening snap, its struggle immediately cut short. The impact managing to bring the tiger out of his invisibility, only to become invisible again

The tiger didn't stop to claim its secondary victim, it immediately renewed its pursuit of the buffalo. The chase tore through the open plain and headed toward the forest edge.

The weakened buffalo, weaving between the thick trunks of the giant trees, tried to use the obstacles to shake its attacker. It was a brutal, desperate dance.

Finally, the tiger caught up. A sound like tearing canvas was swallowed by the forest as the invisible predator delivered a final, killing blow.

The massive buffalo staggered, then collapsed with a heavy thud, disappearing into the undergrowth beneath the towering trees. The only movement left in the clearing was the nervous darting of the remaining, terrified prey.

The giant tiger materialized, its body heaving. Its chin and mouth were dark with blood. Its ruby-red eyes locked onto the massive buffalo, which was breathing its last.

The tiger placed a colossal paw onto the buffalo's neck, resting its entire weight there. With a sharp crunch, the buffalo's neck snapped, ending the struggle instantly.

The tiger then relaxed after securing it's kill, it bit into the flesh of the buffalo eager to bring it back to it's den when it sensed something.

But it was too late.

Just as it released the buffalo from it's mouth to look at the new presence, it felt something slam into it.

Instantly throwing it away, it stumbled through the undergrowth, before regaining it balance.

Only for the thing to slam into it again, sending it tumbling again, before it could balance itself again, the thing slammed into it again.

The tiger's annoyance gave way for anger, it couldn't even see what was attacking it. It intended to go invisible but the thing attacking him had already locked into it's position.

Again the thing slammed into it again, throwing it out of it's invisible state. The time the tiger didn't fight the force, instead it used it to advance backward.

Then it raised it's upper body upward and true to it's thought the thing slammed into his again.

This time standing on it's hind legs and using it to stabilize itself. Looking downwards what it saw shocked it.

"Nani!!".

The tiger was shocked as it stared at the antelope trying to escape it's grasp, what was the antelope taking for it to consider attacking it.

Last time it checked it was the predator, or was something wrong with the grass.

Before the tiger could recognize the reason for the antelope rather bizarre behavior it felt danger again and let go of the antelope but wasn't fast enough.

From the conner of it's vision it saw a buffalo slam it. Soaring through the sky it's brain struggled to understand the fact that it was being attacked by prey.

It knew that connered prey always attacked back that's why it always attacked the neck or throat of it's prey to ensure a swift victory.

But right now it was seemingly being attacked despite never cornering no prey. Where had they gotten the confidence from.

Greed flashed in its ruby eyes. If it could find the drug giving these prey animals confidence, it would finally have the courage to ask the fierce lioness out for a hunt. Who knows, maybe a moonlit walk by the stream would follow.

But right now it needed to survive.

Before it could even reach the ground, something slammed into it again, throwing it further forward. Trying to stand and fight was futile; the prey wouldn't even let it stabilize.

The tiger let out a roar of pure fury, but it was cut short as the buffalo slammed into its head. The tiger's jaw snapped shut, rattling its entire skull.

The buffalo's horn even pierced its mouth, the tiger stumbled to the floor, playing dead, hoping the pain would fade and the prey would leave.

It was mistaken. It was slammed into repeatedly, given no time to recuperate. Finally, its body gave out. It collapsed, still unable to comprehend that it had been defeated by two prey animals.

It's bloodied, blurry vision caught sight of something else, it was walking on two legs and arrived in front of it.

The tiger stared at the strange creature, since when could animals stand on two legs?.

Levi stared at the overwhelmed tiger then said in a solemn and mysterious voice.

"Sorry... But for Levi".

'Hmm where have I heard that before... Oh for Konoha'.
