The book goes premium tomorrow. I wanted to say something, but also kind of didn't. Yet, after thinking it over, I might as well speak my mind.
This is my fourth book. Apart from them all being written by this old author, it's not really related in theme to the other three.
This is my first time writing an Immortal Hero novel, and honestly, I'd never even considered its performance.
It was originally written just for myself, and I published it on the side mainly to snag some attendance rewards. I really wasn't focused on achieving good results.
And for that very reason, up until now, I've never even asked about readership numbers. I haven't bothered with the data, I've been too lazy to interact with readers, and I've just been lazily hitting the minimum daily update count right before the deadline.
This is the truth. Anyone familiar with Qidian's update mechanics knows that authors who, day in and day out, push out two 4,000-word chapters around 11:55 PM are, nine times out of ten, just slacking off and getting by. After all, they can't just stop updating, right?
Delay any later, and the perfect attendance bonus is gone.
For someone like me to start slacking right from the new book phase is honestly quite rare.
I feel a bit sorry for my editor here (embarrassed).
But then, I just kept slacking, and slacked my way all the way to Three Rivers.
Enough chitchat about that; let's get back to this book.
Why do I say this book was written for myself? Because I was grinding games hard for a while, playing a lot of martial arts cultivation games. After playing so many, I got an itch to read similar cultivation novels.
But after looking around, I didn't find any that I wanted to read, so I simply decided to write one myself.
This book's "golden finger" setting is inspired by a Wuxia single-player RPG, Jade Empire.
The "Love Saint ending"—that reference comes from one of the endings in this game. It's also my favorite one, and I think those who got the reference would have spotted it from the first chapter.
Beyond that, some of the settings and inspirations for subsequent plot points come from a whole slew of games like Jinyong Qun Xia Chuan, Hero Shadow Pavilion, Heluo Heroes, Ghost Valley Eight Desolates, Taifu, and so on. It's quite a mix, really.
But I didn't want to write a martial arts cultivation story; I wanted to read Immortal Hero cultivation, so that's what I wrote.
So, the main theme of this book is Immortal Hero cultivation. Because I'm such a big fan of the Love Saint ending, and I haven't written a multi-heroine story in my last two books, I decided to add that element into this one.
Those who have played these kinds of games will quickly get into it. For those who haven't, it might feel a bit odd. But it can still be enjoyed as a regular Immortal Hero cultivation feel-good story.
Many people accuse me of using clickbait titles. To that, I say, it's all a matter of perspective.
After all, Qidian has many authors who write Harem Chaotic Scenes well, so there's no need to pin all your hopes on this one tree.
Let me emphasize something important: because I'm writing this for myself, I'll write whatever I want to see... so you guys can save your complaints.
If it performs well, that's great. If it tanks, that's fine too.
This has its pros and cons. The pro is, you don't have to worry about me abandoning the story due to poor results.
The con is, because I tend to write quite whimsically, my updates might not always be diligent.
Huh? You're asking when I've *ever* been diligent with updates? Oh, right. Never mind then.
Sigh... Back in the day, I was a powerhouse, churning out 20,000 characters daily. Not anymore. I can't keep up with that grind. Now, all I think about is slacking off—and honestly, the more I slack, the better it feels!
Alright, I'll leave it at that. The book goes premium tomorrow at noon, probably with a release of around 20,000 characters?
As for future updates, the better its performance, the more I'll post. If it doesn't do well, no worries. I'll just keep writing it for myself and aim for that perfect attendance reward.
So, it will be extremely stable, I assure you (booming voice)!
I won't be setting any goals for initial subscriptions. I just hope that readers who enjoy this book will head over to the Qidian app and support the official release (•̀ω •́)✧.
