Transmigration After Becoming Love Saint

Chapter 56: Can't Be Real!

This was the first time Wang Mu had caught this kind of fish.

He even suddenly understood what Grandpa Yu had said.

"I fish without bait; those willing will bite."

This was no longer just biting; it was clinging to the hook and refusing to let go.

The soaring fish, bathed in light, landed accurately in the creel.

"WOW!!!"

The little Jiao Huo swimming on the light screen suddenly had its eyes sparkle with gold. "A fish with two bodies! It splits like a crescent moon and unites like Linglong! The legendary Linglong Bilateral Fish! You really caught it!"

Wang Mu was speechless.

He looked into the creel. Inside lay a peculiar fish: its upper half was split down the middle, forming two heads, each with an eye on one side. Below this, the two parts merged to share a single tail.

When the two fish heads snuggled together, its body would emit a faint light, shimmering with a jade-like, crystalline luster, just like the name Linglong suggested.

It had an aura of profound mystery.

Especially when staring into its eyes, one could vaguely discern a certain reflection that made the mind wander.

"Are there really fish these days that willingly bite the hook and deliver themselves to your door?" Wang Mu was speechless.

It was, after all, a legendary Divine Fish. Although its abilities weren't particularly practical, the signs around this place suggested many anglers had tried to catch it here. Logically, it shouldn't have been so easy. Wang Mu sensed that something was amiss.

However, now that it had been caught, there wasn't much he could do about it.

"Hmm..." Wang Mu looked at the fish, hesitating for a moment.

He could only hope that this fish didn't possess the strange ability Little Jiao Huo had mentioned.

Come to think of it, if this fish had never been caught before, how had word of its abilities spread? It was most likely hearsay, embellished by storytelling. Not to be taken seriously, definitely not to be taken seriously!

At this thought, Wang Mu's mind instantly cleared.

Wang Mu could sense the kind of enhancements the other fish would provide upon consumption just from their auras. This one, however, he couldn't quite figure out.

Picking up the creel, Wang Mu exited the bubble Little Jiao Huo had created and prepared to return.

As per the agreement, Wang Mu handed the creel over to Little Jiao Huo.

"HEHE..." Little Jiao Huo giggled foolishly, circling the fish and examining it from all sides.

They swam all the way back to the shore of Yunlai Creek in Anle Village.

"Oh, this is for you!" Little Jiao Huo took out a small pouch from somewhere on its person; it was embroidered with a Mermaid design.

It was bulging, clearly filled with something good.

"Look! Inside is a Glazed Marrow Jade Fruit!" Little Jiao Huo said, its tone boastful. "It's incredibly precious! Our Glazed Lake might only produce about ten of these every hundred years! The Mermaid clan only gets to share three!"

"One good turn deserves another! You helped me catch this little fish, so I'm giving you this fruit!"

Little Jiao Huo was very honest.

Wang Mu glanced at it. He was a bit skeptical about the fruit's origin; something felt off. Still, it was a kind gesture. It even knows about reciprocity.

"Who told you that one good turn deserves another?" Wang Mu asked.

"Grandma!" Little Jiao Huo exclaimed. "Grandma told me the story of the Linglong Love Abyss when I was very little. It taught me lots and lots of lessons!"

"Then how do you know a Glazed Marrow Jade Fruit would be a fair exchange for a Divine Fish?" Wang Mu asked.

"I don't know." Little Jiao Huo shook its head.

"You don't know? Then why did you think to repay me with this fruit?"

"Because in Grandma's room, the most precious thing I could find was this fruit."

Wang Mu was speechless.

Good grief, so it had stolen it.

"I'll come find you to play again next time! And I'll bring more good things for you!" Little Jiao Huo waved its fishtail at Wang Mu, then hugged the creel and sank into the water.

Watching Little Jiao Huo's receding figure, Wang Mu thought, That little one will probably face a whipping when it gets back. Hopefully, the Divine Fish it's bringing home will spare it from a harsh beating.

"Without Little Jiao Huo, I lack the ability of Water Manipulation. Reaching that special fishing spot at the Bottom of Yunlai Creek is pretty much impossible now," Wang Mu murmured to himself.

The Linglong Love Abyss is exceedingly deep. With my current physical strength, I probably can't swim that far. Besides, if I were to encounter other sea monsters or members of the Sea Clan en route, it would be troublesome. In the sea, I can't use my Hunting Bow either. The danger would be no laughing matter.

Still, catching five special fish isn't too bad, Wang Mu thought. He weighed the small pouch in his hand. This is the biggest haul.

Opening the pouch, he found a fruit emitting a platinum glow. It was translucent, clear as Jade, with visible strands of peculiar energy, like silk threads, flowing within its flesh beneath the skin.

An enticing aroma wafted from it. Just the scent was enough to invigorate his spirit.

With this item, once a suitable time comes, I should be able to continue cultivating the Hundred Refinement Body Technique, Wang Mu thought.

There are still two months. Waiting for a stormy day with thunder and rain to draw down the lightning shouldn't be too difficult. The progression from the Sixty Layers to the Eighty Layers of the Hundred Refinement Body Technique involves the Bone Marrow Transplant, and the conditions for that are the hardest part. After reaching the Sixty Layers, Action Points couldn't be directly added to the Hundred Refinement Body Technique, meaning the conditions weren't met. Whether a spell can be practiced can be determined by seeing if Action Points can be added with a '+'.

In the following days, Wang Mu returned to his routine of Fishing, Chopping, Mining, and Hunting.

I need to mine more Spiritual Ore to prepare for future Artifact Refining. Hunt more Fierce Beasts to stock up on beast blood and materials, preparing for future talisman crafting. Eat more fish that can enhance my aptitude. Otherwise, if I start Cultivation later and don't meet the prerequisites for other Magic and Divine Skills, it'll be embarrassing if I can't allocate Action Points to them.

As a player who had once achieved the "Love Saint" ending, Wang Mu knew very well that every step had to be planned with the future in mind.

Stockpiling more is definitely not a bad thing. I'll try to fill all the different compartments of the Space Bracelet. If I imagine myself in a game mode with no saves, planning ahead for contingencies makes many things fall into place naturally.

After waiting for a month, Anle Village finally experienced a thunderstorm. It was a genuine, raging tempest of violent thunder and torrential rain.

The Bone Marrow Transplant required combining special Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures with the forces of heaven and earth to Wash Marrow and replace blood.

At this moment, Wang Mu had finally gotten his chance.

So the Immortal World does have normal thunder. That's not common. He glanced outside.

In the sky, shrouded by dark clouds, a towering silhouette could be vaguely discerned, as if formed from mist and clouds. It shifted its form with each continuous peal of thunder.

This is different from when I first arrived... Back then, Yan Qingwu was undergoing her Crossing Tribulation. The sky above Anle Village was completely dark, and the color of the thunder as it occasionally flashed was also strange... This time, it seems more normal.

After some recollection, Wang Mu felt that this, finally, seemed like normal thunder.

Wearing a straw raincoat and a conical bamboo hat, Wang Mu left the village and entered the Divine Wood Forest. He found the tallest tree, climbed it, and used branches to secure himself.

If I knew any Spells, a single Mantra could draw down the lightning... Since I can't engage in Cultivation, I have to use a cruder method...

Wang Mu had tied thin filaments refined from iron ore around his body. These filaments, specially crafted for this purpose, pricked upwards towards the sky like needles.

A flash of lightning suddenly streaked across the sky, coming silently.

Wang Mu undid his other bindings and popped the Glazed Marrow Jade Fruit into his mouth.

A surge of immense energy instantly coursed through his entire body.

Wang Mu checked his status:

[Cultivation: ...Hundred Refinement Body Technique (+)...]

The appearance of the '+' sign indicated that the conditions for cultivation were now met.
