I will be a demon in this life!

Chapter 152

The beautiful sky that had replaced the night disappeared.

The sea of clouds returned, and the dark Marrac Mountain resumed its dark nocturnal appearance.

...

Selef walked with Isirid by his side.

Isirid had noticed that the demonic energy in Selef was weak, so she did not let her guard down and kept her demonic wand in her hands.

The two walked through the forest that Hann had created, but which had been perfected by The Pride.

"Stop!" Senjar exclaimed in a firm voice.

The Herald had disappeared along with the fog that appeared when the violin sounded.

"Executive Senjar. What's going on?" Isirid asked with a dignified, almost cold expression and a respectful tone of voice. That was how she usually treated everyone, with the exception of her grandfather and Selef.

"It's dangerous to continue alone. Follow me, I will accompany you to the foot of the mountain," Senjar said.

Isirid looked at Selef, and Selef replied to Senjar in a calm tone:

"Executive Senjar, we have a friend who is in hiding, we must go find her."

Senjar looked at Selef and could also sense how weak and unstable Selef's energy was.

"She can barely stand, yet she maintains a calm and confident attitude. She is an amazing demon for her age. Director Persec chose well," Senjar concluded in his mind, and then told the two that he would accompany them to find the student who was in hiding.

A few hours later, a temporary camp had been set up at the foot of Marrac Mountain.

Incredibly, from the teachers' perspective, there was not a single injury to attend to, as all those who were alive had been healed by the power of light from The Pride. Even so, it was not all positive, because more than half of the students who had gone to Marrac Mountain had died.

The surviving students, although nervous, couldn't stop talking about the surreal experience they had had, witnessing the power of that majestic demon, whom some considered a demon god because of the demonic miracle he had performed.

...

Commander Huv Loper arrived at the camp to ensure the students' safety on their return journey to Danteriar Academy.

"I never believed that the most improbable possibility would come true; is that why the archduke told me in the end that there was no need to move quickly? Does that mean Persec Merliano had the support of such an ally from the beginning?" Huv Loper wondered as he walked around the camp, followed by Aberquian and Setser.

Huv Loper asked some teachers about what had happened, but only received ambiguous statements that did not allow him to reach a satisfactory conclusion.

...

In a large dark red tent, Leyla lay on a stretcher, still asleep.

Selef sat on a stretcher next to her, with Isirid beside him.

"Explain to her what happened. Don't leave her alone until she calms down. She has a fragile heart," Selef said to Isirid.

"If that's what you want, I will." "But why don't you explain it to her?" Isirid asked, looking at Selef's calm expression.

"I'm sure underneath that mask, his expression is that of someone who is inevitably exhausted," Isirid thought.

"I'll go into a coma and wake up in a month or two. Tell your grandfather to take care of the rest. It's best that everything continues as we've planned," said Selef, his voice sounding increasingly tired.

Isirid nodded as she squeezed Selef's left hand between her hands and said:

"I'll be waiting for you."

Selef nodded and lay down on the stretcher, his body barely able to stay awake.

After Senjar spoke with some of the teachers who taught Class S, he returned to see Selef.

When Senjar entered, Isirid shook her head and said:

"He's very tired, he's fallen asleep."

Senjar wasn't surprised; he knew that Selef's condition was delicate despite appearing unharmed.

Senjar nodded, then asked Isirid a few questions, and she gave him half-answers.

In the end, Isirid let Senjar know that Persec Merliano had the answers he was looking for.

••••

At dawn.

On the borders between the Human Empire and the Land of Demons.

Troops led by the leaders and commanders that Duke Venzariac had gathered formed in different areas.

...

On the borders of the Sevec marquisate, the designated deputy commanders protected the different borders while the commanders were in the rear, ready to act.

In a black and red tent with golden carpets, General Balac Sevec drank a sip of golden liquor while keeping an eye on what was happening on the different fronts.

...

The Archduke did not hesitate to order the attack at the precise moment the sun rose.

Lindzei Britchiner was the leader of a guild specializing in assassination and information gathering, so she kept infiltrators on the different fronts, which made her realize that something was wrong when the allied force that Duke Venzariac had mentioned in the previous meeting did not show up on one of the fronts. Realizing this, and knowing the duke's uncontrollable desire for revenge, she simply ordered her subordinates to retreat as she did.

"I'm only where there's profit," was the thought of the beautiful and sensual Lindzei as she moved away from the chaotic borders.

••••

The battles took place in the territories commanded by Deputy Commanders Sitan Bokar and Asfent Fenderiac.

...

The demons under the command of the subcommanders of the Sevec Marquisate, regardless of their level, fought in organized formations that compensated for the low rank of some demons.

...

The humans understood why, since the Marquisate of Sevec had taken those territories, the marquisate's territorial losses were practically nil.

What had once seemed like an easy conquest to mercenary leader Edward Liken had now turned into a nightmare as he watched his men die at the hands of the demons' group formations.

"What the hell is this?" exclaimed the mercenary with anger and helplessness, who had already begun to consider the possibility of abandoning the mission, but resisted doing so because somewhere in the rear, the duke, who had recently risen to the initial seventh rank (the initial stage of the seventh circle of mana), was watching them.

Edward had sensed a trace of madness in the duke's uncontrollable desire for revenge, so he decided to wait for the right moment to escape with the mercenaries who were still alive.

Baron Sed, who was near the territory occupied by mercenary leader Edward, had stayed behind, studying the enemy. The men under his command were also trained in different group combat tactics.

"This won't be easy. But wars never are," murmured Baron Sed, his imposing magic bow in his hands. Then he ordered his commanders to attack.

...

Thus began the war on the borders between humans and demons.
