Speed Villian: Fugitive from the stars

Chapter 35: The Familiar Figure

WHIMM!

The ball zipped past the defenders like a streak of silver, spinning with precision, before it smacked hard against the goalpost — CLANK!

"Woohoo! The ball hit the pole! So close, Kael!" one of the student commentators screamed, half cheering, half groaning.

Kael, standing just outside the penalty area, threw his hands up in exasperation. "Wait… don't tell me it didn't score!" he muttered to Augustus, his voice tinged with mock irritation.

["Well… you miscalculated by 0.032 seconds. Perhaps I should… recompute?"] Augustus replied.

Kael scowled. "You are not reliable. Aren't you supposed to recalculate instantly?"

["These days, I'm prioritizing your intelligence over match outcomes."]

"F*ck off!" Kael shot back, rolling his eyes, though a faint smirk betrayed his amusement.

---

The second half kicked off, and the stadium's energy surged. Both teams, tired yet determined, were still locked in a goalless battle. Kael, ever the showman, treated the field like a personal playground. With every touch, every feint, and every sudden stop, he toyed with the defenders as though they were nothing more than practice dummies.

He dribbled past one, two, three players with effortless grace, his long blue hair fluttering, and his fitted cyan jersey clinging to his agile frame. Then, spotting a gap, he intercepted a cross from the opposition, taking full control of the ball. With a flick of his foot and a calculating glance, he sent a perfect through pass slicing through the defensive line.

The striker of Azure Legends, legs pumping like pistons, raced to meet it, defenders hot on his heels. Every second felt stretched, every heartbeat echoed in the stadium. The crowd collectively held its breath.

Kael's eyes sparkled with quiet satisfaction. "There you go, Augustus. Let's see your math handle this one."

["Calculating trajectory… 96.7% probability of goal if striker maintains current velocity…"]

With a burst of speed, the striker reached the ball, pivoted slightly, and unleashed a powerful shot toward the goal. The goalkeeper lunged, stretching every sinew, but the ball slipped past with uncanny precision.

GOOOOOAAAAALLLL!!!

The stadium erupted like a tidal wave of cheers. Students jumped from their seats, waving flags and banners, screaming the striker's name, but all eyes secretly—or not so secretly—were on Kael.

"Azure Legends breaks the deadlock!" the announcers shouted, nearly losing their voices in the excitement. "What a counterattack! Pure brilliance!"

Kael, casually leaning against the sideline, clapped his hands slowly, exaggerating every movement for effect. "Not bad, right? Augustus?" he asked, smirking.

["Impressive execution, though your flair could've been reduced by 17% for efficiency."]

"Efficiency is boring," Kael replied, tossing a playful glance toward the stunned defenders still trying to recover.

---

In the final minutes of the game, Azure Legends held firm, weaving through Leoplast United's desperate attacks like a knife through silk. Kael, even without touching the ball again, orchestrated the match with subtle passes, positioning teammates, and drawing defenders away at perfect moments. Every time Leoplast tried to mount an attack, Kael's presence alone disrupted their flow, making it nearly impossible to penetrate Azure's defense.

When the final whistle blew, the scoreboard confirmed it: Azure Legends 1 – Leoplast United 0.

The crowd went absolutely wild. Students poured onto the field, hugging, cheering, and jumping in celebration. Flags waved, banners flapped, and the echoes of victory filled the stadium. It was a historic moment: Azure Legends had won the school league for the first time in history, finishing undefeated in all 18 matches.

Kael, brushing some sweat from his brow, allowed himself a small, satisfied grin. His team rushed toward him, lifting him onto their shoulders. Even the coach, normally composed and stoic, beamed with pride.

"You… you did it, Kael!" the striker shouted, holding onto him tightly.

Kael chuckled, letting the weight of the moment sink in. "We did it. Don't forget that. Teamwork matters… even if I make it look easy."

Maya and Samantha, standing at the sidelines, exchanged impressed glances. Samantha's eyes sparkled with admiration, while Maya, ever competitive, smirked but gave a nod of respect.

"This is just the beginning," Kael whispered to himself, his gaze drifting toward the horizon, already thinking about what came next.

For now, though, he allowed himself to bask in the moment—the thrill of victory, the applause, the undeniable feeling that he had left a mark not just on the field, but on the entire Red City High legacy.

---

Later that night, Kael-X lay sprawled across his bed, bare-chested, muscles glinting faintly in the dim moonlight that seeped through his window. His eyes, usually calm and calculating, twitched involuntarily.

"We meet again."

Kael's gaze snapped toward the source of the voice. That familiar smirk… that signature presence.

"It's you," Kael said, sitting up slightly, his voice low and cautious. "Any news? Or just more warnings?"

The figure chuckled softly, an almost musical sound that sent a shiver down Kael's spine. "Tsk, don't take me for some old man who warns for fun. I don't do casual advice."

Kael let out a short, humorless laugh. "Old man? Please. You've been around long enough to be ancient. Don't act so mysterious."

Ignoring the jab, the figure continued, holding up a hand. In it appeared a small, jade-colored slip, glowing faintly in the darkness. "I came for something more pressing this time. I can feel your strength… late Elite Realm, correct?"

"Tsk… yes," Kael replied, narrowing his eyes. "You've been keeping tabs."

The figure's smirk deepened. "Hmmm… thought so." He extended the jade slip closer. "Take this. The Land of Generations will open in about three months. Only those in Elite and Master Realms will be permitted to enter."

Kael's fingers brushed over the smooth surface of the slip as his mind worked quickly. He glanced at Augustus, who promptly displayed Earth's full ranking system for him:

1–20: Initiate Realm

21–70: Adept Realm

71–250: Elite Realm

251–350: Master Realm

351–500: Ascendant Realm

501–750: Calamity Realm

751–1000: Transcendent Realm

"Interesting…" Kael muttered. He hid a smirk as he thought to himself, This man still thinks I'm late Elite Realm… perfect.

He pocketed the jade slip, rolling it between his fingers. "Three months, right?"

"Correct," the figure replied, voice calm but carrying weight. "And heed this: stay away from Master Realm elementals. Even a weak Master who has abused treasures can crush two late Elites in a heartbeat. Tread carefully."

Kael's lips curled in a sly smile. "Understood…" But heh, technically, I'm already in your Master Realm anyway."

The figure's eyes twinkled with unspoken amusement before he vanished like smoke in the wind, leaving only a faint scent of sandalwood and ozone behind.

Kael stared at the empty space for a long moment, a quiet intensity settling over him. Then he spoke aloud, almost to himself, almost to Augustus.

"Three months," he repeated, voice low but determined. "Augustus… it's time. We start the plan tomorrow."

[You are still insisting on creating your version of the Chaos Couple.] Augustus chimed in, a hint of digital exasperation in his tone.

Kael chuckled, lying back on the bed and letting the jade slip rest against his chest. "Phew… tomorrow, then. Let's make these three months count."

Outside, the city lights twinkled, unaware that Kael-X was already preparing for something far bigger than any

school league match, far beyond any arena battle—a game that would challenge even the most seasoned Masters.
