Love Ballad of the Tyrant King

Ch. 70

Chapter 70: Seolyoung, Throws a Drunken Tantrum

Lee Jaseung opened the iron case, yet she was not surprised in the least. She placed the snacks she had brought from the kitchen on the table and walked over to his side.

“Fascinating, isn’t it?”

In her eyes as she looked at the Limitless Iron Chest, a trace of lingering regret and sadness flickered. She had already given up on gaining anything from it.

At first, she had opened the coffer dozens of times a day, but later it became a habit to open it just once daily. Ever since she began seriously training in martial arts, she had not opened it at all.

The coffer had fallen from being a priceless martial treasure worth risking her life for, to nothing more than a curious toy.

“It’s something that has been passed down for generations. Quite interesting, isn’t it?”

“I see.”

Lee Jaseung closed the lid and returned to the table.

“This was all there was in the kitchen.”

The snacks she had brought were dried meat and dried fruit.

“This is plenty.”

“Well, it’s better than grandmother’s terrible snacks, right?”

Her joke brought a faint smile to his face.

She poured liquor into his cup. It was the first time she had poured a drink for her husband.

This time, Lee Jaseung filled her cup. It was also the first time he had poured a drink for his wife.

They clinked cups.

Both had complicated thoughts and wanted to drink, so the liquor was especially good tonight.

Refilling his cup, Baek Seolyoung asked him a question.

“How can you be so confident?”

“Do I seem confident to you?”

She nodded silently, thinking to herself that she truly envied him.

Lee Jaseung drained his cup without answering. There could have been many answers.

Because of effort. Because effort had given him confidence.

Because of his position. The position of Black Way Alliance’s Lord gave him confidence.

Especially when dealing with the subordinates of the Evil Path, confidence was essential. Show weakness, and beasts would bare their teeth.

Looking down into her cup, Baek Seolyoung said,

“Do you remember calling me a rookie? And telling me to admit it?”

Of course, he remembered. That day, she had even called him a bastard. But he pretended not to know.

“Did I say that?”

“You did. I didn’t admit it that day…”

She trailed off. She had intended to say she admitted it now.

But once she started, she felt she didn’t want to admit it after all. It was not pride or arrogance.

She was trying with all her strength now. Whether it was objectively enough or not, at least she was giving her best.

“I still don’t admit it.”

Her unexpected answer made him smirk quietly. When he smiled, she also smiled faintly. He thought her smile was beautiful.

They drained their cups again. Seeing her empty hers in one gulp, he asked worriedly,

“Will you be alright?”

She had already drunk far beyond her usual limit. Tonight, the liquor tasted sweet. She felt she could drink several bottles.

She handed him her cup with a bright smile and replied.

“We are only getting started!”

* * *

Lee Jaseung’s lips pressed down on hers so hard she almost lost her breath.

Mmmf.

Surprised by the rough kiss, she opened her eyes wide. His arm wrapped around her waist.

Her lips parted slightly for an instant.

He used that opening and lightly bit her lip.

With a small gasp, her lips opened wider. His tongue brushed hers, sending an unfamiliar thrill through her whole body.

It was sweet and electrifying. A subtle feeling she could not put into words.

Then his hand on her waist slowly traced upward along her side toward her chest. Feeling his touch, her heart pounded as if it would burst.

She tried to say no, but his lips completely claimed hers.

When his hand cupped her chest, her body arched like a bow. His palm was burning hot. Her breath grew rough.

His other hand supporting her waist began to move downward.

No! Stop!

She suddenly opened her eyes wide.

A strange ceiling. Birds chirping outside the window.

She was lying on the bed. She let out a long sigh.

‘Ah, it was a dream.’

It had been so vivid that she lay there blankly for a while.

She felt relieved yet strangely disappointed.

She gave an awkward smile and couldn’t help but chuckle in the end.

‘Anyway, how much did I drink last night?’

She couldn’t remember when she had fallen asleep or how she had gotten into bed. From the splitting headache, she guessed she had drunk a lot.

She turned her head casually to the side.

Her eyes widened the next moment. She clamped both hands over her mouth to stifle a scream.

Lee Jaseung was lying next to her.

She shut her eyes tight.

‘No! This is a dream! It has to be a dream! I’m not awake yet!’

She nervously cracked her eyes open again. His face was still there. It was not a dream.

‘Oh no! Why am I sleeping in the same bed with him?’

No matter how much she thought about it, she could not remember.

‘Could it be that it wasn't a dream after all?’

She quickly glanced under the blanket at her own clothes.

Gasp!

In shock, she covered her mouth again.

Her outer robe was gone, leaving only her underclothes.

‘Did we do it…? Did we really?’

She wasn’t naked, so likely not. But then why was her outer robe off?

Thump-thump-thump-thump.

Her heart pounded wildly.

‘Did I really… with him?’

There was only one way to be sure.

She cracked her eyes and turned her head again. After lifting the blanket slightly to look at his body, she finally screamed.

“Aaaaghh!”

Lee Jaseung was shirtless.

She went pale with shock.

‘We really did! But I don’t remember a single thing!’

He blinked sleepily after waking up from her outburst.

“What is the meaning of this!”

She yelled.

Slap!

She slapped his chest with her palm. Of course, she was still clutching the blanket around herself with the other hand.

He stared at her blankly for a moment, then responded as he yawned.

“That’s what I should be saying.”

“What?”

“You don’t remember last night, do you?”

From his tone, it sounded like she made a mistake last night. And that exasperated look?

She shouted loudly.

“Of course I remember everything!”

“No, you don’t remember a thing. If you did, you wouldn’t be shouting at me right now.”

She thought to herself after hearing him.

‘Oh no! What’s happened? Did I cause trouble? Then that strange scene was just a dream?’

Then, Lee Jaseung sat up, and the blanket slid off his bare torso.

She flinched and turned her head away, then looked again.

Her gaze was caught by his scars. Not one or two, but many. The large scar on his chest held her attention.

It looked like he had come close to death with that scar.

“That scar…”

She began to ask, but he threw off the blanket and got out of bed.

“Agh!”

She screamed again, squeezing her eyes shut, fearing he might not be wearing pants. Thankfully, he was.

He drank cold tea from the table and spoke.

“You have a drinking habit. A very impressive one at that.”

“Lies! I have no such thing!”

Said the woman who had once grabbed him by the collar while drunk.

‘But that time, I had drunk a lot… Oh, I must’ve drank a ton last night too. Maybe even more since I briefly remembered what happened last time unlike now.’

“You yelled.”

“Lies!”

“You grabbed my collar.”

“Lies.”

“You cursed.”

“…Lies.”

“You threw up all over my clothes.”

“……..”

Her voice, which had been getting quieter, finally fell silent.

Her face flushed red. So that was why he had taken off her robe. She must have even vomited on his clothes.

She asked in a weak tone.

“What were you doing? You didn’t even notice I’d been hit with a Soul-Capturing Technique.”

“...”

“...”

“Sorry I couldn’t stop it in advance.”

“But at least I’m back to my senses now.”

She buried her face in the blanket. She was too embarrassed to look up.

He smiled faintly at her.

He was reminded of what happened last night.

“Woah, beautiful.”

She had looked out the window in admiration. A bright full moon hung in the sky. Holding a liquor bottle, she staggered to the window.

“It’s beautiful.”

Her eyes were half-lidded.

She had meant to drink just a little, but with him, the liquor had gone down more easily than usual.

Lee Jaseung came and stood next to her.

“Do you really think we should go?”

She asked, looking at him.

He too gazed at her face in the soft moonlight. The faint moonlight shining down on her face made her way too beautiful.

“Yes.”

He said firmly, nodding.

Baek Seolyoung smiled.

“Alright, let’s go. To the Murim Alliance.”

She had made up her mind.

“Then let’s toast to that!”

“Will you be okay?”

“Of course.”

She drank straight from the bottle. That last gulp was the problem.

When she started to topple, he caught her.

She leaned on his shoulder. He thought she might fall asleep, but she mumbled something he couldn’t quite catch.

Listening closely, he realized she was repeating that she could overcome it. She was afraid, but her position as a Lord of a clan meant she could not show it.

He patted her head once. Then she opened her eyes and lifted her head.

“Hey! You jerk!”

It seemed like she suddenly remembered something.

From there, she had begun scolding him for being away for days after their wedding.

After that, it was as Lee Jaseung said earlier. She had ruined her clothes, so he thought to bring her a new robe and help her change into it.

But if he went to get them, Mook Young or Chu Sang-gi would find out. He couldn’t leave her alone, so he had just taken off his shirt and slept. He had only removed her outer robe.

While looking at her under the blanket, he spoke.

“Let’s go get some hangover soup.”

“No, I’ll just starve to death here.”

He smirked. He found her reaction cute.

“We should at least say goodbye to Grandmother before we leave.”

“Grandmother?”

“We can’t just go without telling her, can we?”

Only then, she poked her head out of the blanket.

“Turn around, you jerk!”

He turned around with a smile.

‘Well, I’ll let it slide today.’

* * *

“Hahahaha!”

Hearing the story, Yim Sayeon laughed heartily.

“I told you before, didn’t I? Pretty ones always have a drinking habit.”

“Grandmother, I don’t! I was just a little tipsy!”

“It’s alright, it’s alright. I have one too. All beauties have one. Isn’t that right?”

She looked at Lee Jaseung for confirmation.

He avoided answering by sipping the hangover soup she had made.

“It’s delicious.”

Then she laughed again and spoke.

“Haha. If there’s one thing I can guarantee, it’s hangover soup. I have to eat it most often, after all.”

Baek Seolyoung drank her soup too. She actually felt her stomach settling.

‘With a hangover soup as delicious as this, I might actually become a drunkard at this rate.’

After they finished, Baek Seolyoung spoke cautiously.

“We need to leave for the Murim Alliance.”

At her words, Yim Sayeon’s eyes flickered for a moment.

“Why are you going there?”

Baek Seolyoung briefly explained about the Undying Ghouls.

“...That’s why we’re going.”

Yim Sayeon glanced at Lee Jaseung, who ignored her gaze and kept drinking. This was the first step to taking the Murim Alliance.

If their eyes met, his intentions might be revealed.

Smiling faintly, she said to Baek Seolyoung,

“Go and come back safely.”

“Yes, we’ll return as soon as we can.”

“Alright.”

But her expression was darker than usual.

Lee Jaseung knew it wasn’t just because of the impending farewell. When the Murim Alliance had first been mentioned, she had clearly been shaken.

She definitely had some connection to them.

He felt it. Yim Sayeon, too, was destined to be entangled in the path he must walk.
