In the Montrael Middle School.
It was the last class, and the students were eagerly watching the clock tick down to the final bell of the day.
They could barely concentrate in the class, as they just wanted the school day to be over so they could go home and relax.
"…Haah."
Lumian let out a long sigh, looked at his open textbook, and read through the same sentence for the fifth time without really processing any of the information.
The time moved without him noticing, and at that moment, the final bell of the school echoed throughout the school.
The students immediately banged their books shut, stuffed them inside their backpacks, and joined their friends in leaving the classroom.
"Hey, Lumian. Are you coming to the dojo today?"
Cleo asked with a smile.
"I will."
Lumian said with a smile.
He hadn't told anyone that he was actually temporarily living there, as it was simply too embarrassing for him to admit to that.
Jock joined the two of them, the backpack dangling over his shoulder, and saw Lumian glance at him briefly before looking away.
It seemed like Lumian was still ashamed about his previous fight against Jock and didn't know how to get rid of the awkwardness.
After Lumian picked up his backpack, they left the school building, and while walking down the yard, they saw a swarm of students leaving the grounds.
There were some that headed to the school clubs, while the rest either headed home, to the dojo, or just to the market.
In that moment, Lumian's ears perked up, and his eyes flashed with worry for a moment before he steeled his gaze.
"Actually, I forgot that I had to talk to the homeroom teacher after class. I will meet you guys in the dojo, alright?"
Lumian said, and slowly started making his way back to the school.
"See you there!"
Cleo shouted, and with Jock, they followed the rest of the student body out of the gate to head straight to Martial Redemption Dojo.
Instead of going inside the school building like he told them, Lumian walked to the back of the school and arrived at the closed-off storage hut.
It was well-hidden behind several other buildings, so it was difficult for anyone to notice him here.
"Come out."
Lumian said.
In that moment, he heard some laughter, and from behind the corner, three tall young men walked over with menacing looks on their faces.
They were his former seniors of the Ok Family Dojo, and since they were already high school students, they'd reached the Martial Champion rank already.
"Very foolish of you coming here where we can do whatever we want to you, and no one will know a thing~"
Renji said with a giggle.
"He didn't want his little friends to get hurt, hmph."
Jiho said and nudged his glasses up his nose bridge.
"Lumian is such a good guy, after all!"
Wei said with a grin.
"…How cliché. You came here to beat me up, so can we get this shit over with already?"
Lumian dropped his backpack to the ground, and then he turned around and lunged at Wei without hesitation.
"Oh my god, he is attacking me!"
Wei innocently raised his arms in surrender with a smile, but at that moment, Jiho came and kicked Lumian in the stomach before he could reach Wei.
Lumian flew through the air and landed on the ground, groaning in pain.
"Fucking traitor!"
Renji kicked the downed Lumian, and he groaned in agony with sharp pain shooting through his body like lightning.
While Lumian was shuddering in pain on the ground, footsteps suddenly came behind him, and then he felt a sharp pain in his hair.
A hand pulled his hair back forcefully, making him scream in pain, and as he turned his head around, he came across the cold eyes of his father.
"F-Father…"
Lumian gritted his teeth.
Sozen punched him in the face, and Lumian's lips split open, blood dripping down his chin.
"You still call me your father, hmph. A traitor for a son—how fucking embarrassing. You dragged my name through the mud.
"First, I found out that Weathers cheated in some second-rate tournament, and after interrogating him a little, he told me that you told him to do that.
"You smeared the name of the Ok family and then left for a rival dojo. My own blood leaving my dojo for someone else…
"Do you have any idea how much that hurt my reputation?!"
Sozen asked with a booming scream.
"Ptui…"
Lumian spat on the ground, then turned to look at his father and said.
"I left because I realized you did not care about me. Your 'training' was just a different word for torture. What kind of father tortures his son?"
"I own you! You wouldn't be in this world without me. You will do what the fuck I tell you to do, and that's it.
"You think you have free will? Think again!"
Sozen stomped on the head of his son and buried it into the hard ground, so hard that blood splattered all over his shoes and pants.
In that moment, Sozen pulled out a sharp knife from his belt and twirled it around before pressing it against the throat of his son.
"I will give you one last chance. Take this knife, and stab it into the back of Kiernan Hunter. If you do that, I will welcome you back.
"If you do not… I brought you to this world, and I can also take you out."
He then dropped the knife next to the bleeding Lumian and then wiped the blood off his shoes using Lumian's shirt.
With that, he walked away with the three young men.
"Ah…"
Lumian turned around to lie on his back, blood staining his face, and he looked with a half-closed eye at the darkening sky.
It was turning slightly orange as the sun was slowly setting.
He then sat up, letting the blood trickle down his chin, and as he painfully climbed to his feet, he picked up the knife from the ground.
Under his bangs, his eyes had turned black and red. The sclera had turned black, and the pupil was crimson red.
Uncontrollable Demons had taken over Lumian Ok.
