God of Technology: Creating the Internet in Another World

Chapter 125: Gold Equals Faith

Night.

Viscount Roster, staying overnight at the royal palace, suddenly felt a wave of drowsiness wash over him. This familiar feeling instantly reminded him of the previous times Ren had summoned him. With that thought, he quickly headed toward his bedroom.

Roster Territory.

The Wild Mage, conducting experiments in his lab, was also suddenly hit by a wave of drowsiness. His whole body started getting groggy. He cast a clarity spell on himself, but it had zero effect. Just as he was about to call for help, worried something was wrong, he basically just collapsed onto the table and fell into a deep sleep.

The magic power transmitted through the Magic Power Network didn't weaken at all, continuing to flow into his body to maintain the life force of his special physical condition.

Not far from him, Magician's Apprentice was communicating with Little Magnemite about something.

Lately, he'd been spending most of his time with Little Magnemite. With its help, many of his wild ideas could quickly be created and tested in various experiments. The two had formed something of a friendship.

A wave of drowsiness hit him. Just as the apprentice was about to voice his confusion, he heard Little Magnemite say, "My master is summoning you. Go to sleep quickly—your consciousness is probably about to enter the virtual divine realm."

At those words, the apprentice was obviously stunned, but quickly caught on!

Little Magnemite's master was the God of Technology!

The god wanted to see him?!

A surge of delight and excitement welled up inside him.

The drowsiness seemed to get even stronger. Even with such intense emotions, he didn't wake up much at all. Just as he was about to say something, he collapsed on the ground and fell fast asleep.

Little Magnemite circled him twice. After confirming nothing was wrong, it just didn't bother and floated away to continue its own business. It didn't give a single thought to whether humans normally slept like this. After all, it usually slept this way itself.

Besides these, others who were summoned included Wolf General Lucina from the far-off Teylir Emirates, the wealthiest merchant in the elven kingdom—the dwarf elf Labrechaun—and many other important personnel from the Church of Technology who were in R&D or held authority and were irreplaceable.

Having just fallen asleep, Viscount Roster felt an incredibly familiar dazzling sensation. Then the light and shadows around him rapidly switched, reorganized, and transformed. Finally, he appeared in a space.

"Viscount Roster, you're here too!"

"Wild Mage, Horace, you guys made it! Huh, is that Count Lucina? Mr. Labrechaun? Didn't expect to see you here too! And..."

Viscount Roster instinctively started communicating with the two from his territory. But right after greeting them, he discovered there were many more people around.

One by one, Viscount Roster exclaimed familiar names. After a brief moment of confusion, the others gradually understood. They all showed expressions of sudden realization.

So they'd been summoned by the God of Technology, and many of the people around them were famous figures in their circles. As they observed each other, their gazes became somewhat subtle.

"Lord Roster, I heard you've been summoned by the god before. So is this the god's divine realm?" Lucina was the first to react.

Having been through countless battles, she had exceptional reaction and acceptance abilities. She quickly got a grasp on the current situation.

Not far away, the dwarf elf Labrechaun's forehead broke out in some sweat. The God of Technology's divine realm!

He believed in the God of Technology purely to get discounts. Later on it was even more about business—it wasn't about faith at all. If the God of Technology knew this... No! The God of Technology definitely knew. How could a god not know whose faith was pure and whose wasn't? Since he'd been summoned, there probably wouldn't be any problems.

Labrechaun kept convincing himself. In his entire life, he only believed in gold—nothing else mattered. That was just how the dwarf elf race was. Gods might not be omniscient, but at the very least, wouldn't they know whether someone was a believer or not?

Since he'd been summoned here, then surely nothing would happen. They wouldn't summon him here just to make an example of him, right? What god in this world would be that bored? Besides, he'd made contributions too—his faith just wasn't that pure, that's all.

However, what he didn't know was that as the trade network was built up and he saw the hope of earning gold growing bigger and bigger, at this moment, the faith power he contributed each time he prayed was no less than that of a fanatic. Or rather, he himself was already a firm fanatic.

His faith in gold had long since transformed into firm belief that the God of Technology could bring him massive amounts of gold!

Though it was strange, right now he truly believed that to earn more gold, he had to follow the God of Technology. The "Labrechaun inequality" of God of Technology = endless gold had long since taken root in his heart and even grown incredibly robust.

Otherwise, he couldn't possibly appear here.

Everyone who appeared here might have something they wanted to protect in their hearts. But Ren could sense that everything they needed to protect required the God of Technology to help them achieve it. So their faith in the God of Technology had become incredibly intense, even surpassing many clerics of divine churches.

"No... I don't know. When I went to the divine realm last time, what I saw looked somewhat similar to this, but not exactly the same." Viscount Roster hesitantly looked around. The sky above was still endless, seemingly able to extend infinitely downward. In the sky, countless geometric shapes, along with mechanical structures and magical runes related to Magic Conductors, were all floating around. It was similar to last time, just with more of them.

But that incredibly massive tower from before had disappeared at some point. In its place was a small courtyard surrounded by countless rooms. They didn't know what these rooms were for—only the numbers on them were clearly visible: 1, 2, 3, 4... endlessly.

"Those things in the sky... those patterns are all blueprints for Magic Conductors, encompassing everything we know and don't know. Incredible, truly incredible!" The Wild Mage suddenly spoke up at this moment. Who knows if he'd just discovered it or was trying to help Viscount Roster out of an awkward spot.

After hearing this, the others seemed like they'd been reminded, looked up, and couldn't help but let out genuine gasps of surprise.

A chorus of "whoa" sounds!

Everyone's eyes were filled with astonishment.

Among them, there actually weren't that many true R&D talent. More of them were Magic Conductor users and special figures like noble capital, bureaucratic capital, and state capital who pushed for Magic Conductor popularization. But this didn't stop each of them from having deep desire for Magic Conductors.

Through Magic Conductors, each of these people could achieve different goals.

Suddenly, a long table appeared in the courtyard, covered with all kinds of pastries and drinks—for humans, beastmen, and elves, everything was there. An enticing aroma entered everyone's noses, making them instinctively feel some desire.

This was actually pretty abnormal.

Among these people, the most miserable were just the Wild Mage and the apprentice. But since following Viscount Roster, even if they couldn't say they ate delicacies every day, at the very least what they ate definitely wasn't worse than what the palace served. How could they possibly feel desire for this kind of food in this situation?

Quite a few people felt surprise and wariness.

However, after seeing this scene, Viscount Roster first froze, then immediately stepped forward and bowed respectfully. "I pay my respects to you, my god!!!"

With that reminder, the others finally reacted and quickly stepped forward, copying his example.

"Welcome to the Tech Lab. This is a perfect experimental facility I'm providing for you." Suddenly, a grand voice came from the sky. Just hearing this ordinary sentence made them start trembling: "Among you, some are inventors of Magic Conductors, some are producers of Magic Conductors, and others are users and profiteers of Magic Conductors. But in my eyes, you are all contributors who have promoted Magic Conductors and the magic-tech industry! This is the perfect venue I'm granting you!"
