The space shuttle landed smoothly on the lunar surface; the airport had been cleared of all but moon dust, with no craters or rocks to be seen.
Outside the porthole, astronauts in spacesuits were directing the spacecraft to slowly adjust its angle, aligning the shuttle's exit directly with the entrance to Moon City, eliminating the need for an intermediate airlock chamber.
"That person is flying!"
"Idiot, it's gravity!"
"I want to go out and play; I have to go out and play!"
"I heard we can even race cars tomorrow! Let's see who drives the fastest then!"
The ones making a racket were not only the group of Japanese high school students—many first-time visitors to the moon were also pressing their faces against the porthole, their expressions excited and thrilled.
Soon, an announcement came over the intercom stating that the space shuttle had successfully docked with Moon City, and everyone began to disembark in turn.
"I saw many videos saying there's a folk-style commentary with handheld megaphones, how come I don't see it?" Zhou Ying was peering around from her seat, as it wasn't yet her turn to leave.
"We took off from Japan," Zheng Qing reminded her.
"Oh, right, I forgot about that." Zhou Ying nodded repeatedly, her eyes glued to the exit, wondering how long before it would be her turn.
Even though there wasn't a handheld megaphone commentary, the spacecraft's broadcast was continuously educating everyone about lunar knowledge.
"...lunar rocks may seem similar to Earth's, but they are actually quite different. Compared to Earth's rocks, the moon's are significantly lacking in volatile elements that can form rocks, like potassium.
"...indicates there was once a liquid magma ocean on the lunar surface at least a few hundred kilometers deep."
In the midst of the broadcast that no one was really listening to, it was finally Zheng Qing and Zhou Ying's turn.
Off the plane, a long glass corridor awaited them, and beyond its walls was the living moon!
The nearby dust, the distant hills, all reflected the sunlight, the reflection so bright it was almost dazzling.
But in the shadows and dark areas, the darkness was thicker than on Earth due to the absence of air, meaning there was no scattering of light, according to the small facts mentioned in the broadcast.
Both sides of the corridor were crowded with people taking photos, especially the elderly, as dubious advertisements claimed the moon's gravity was especially kind to arthritis sufferers.
Whether this was true wasn't known; after all, the advertisements also claimed that getting married on the moon was a sign of true love (so what about Earth? Has Earth never had true love?).
The Japanese school teacher repeatedly urged their students to move quickly and not to trouble the tourists, but the high schoolers were still snapping away vigorously.
"Teacher, I'm about to take a picture, cheese!"
"No, we can't—"
"I'm going to take it now!"
"—cheese!!"
Zheng Qing walked past the teacher who had joined the students, and Zhou Ying took the opportunity to take a self-portrait while walking. After all, she was a working adult and if she behaved like an unruly student and lingered, it wouldn't be cute; she'd risk being scolded by her superior, Zheng Qing.
If she got a low evaluation and was perceived as being careless with her duties, it would be difficult to advance and gain access to more resources.
"Look at Earth!"
A sudden commotion erupted in the corridor.
Zhou Ying immediately thought of a movie scene where the protagonist lands on the moon, only for Earth to explode.
She turned around immediately, and after a glance, she hurriedly pulled Zheng Qing, "Qing sister, Qing sister!"
On the day of the opening of Moon City, Zheng Qing had received an invitation from Li Qianxia and visited once. Coupled with a life-or-death preoccupation, she didn't have much interest; but after being pulled by Zhou Ying, she turned around to look.
The Earth, like a blue glass bead, wasn't exploding but was enveloped in a swathe of ethereal, multicolored material, like a cosmic jellyfish draping its skirt over the planet.
The light undulated as if the colossal jellyfish was emulating the rhythm of the sea and dancing.
An immortal was collecting the airglow.
Li Changzhou wasn't there; Li Qianxia was on the moon—was it Yang Qinglan or Turquoise Pool? Or maybe it was the two of them?
Zheng Qing looked at Earth with a mix of awe and envy before turning her gaze away.
"Let's go."
"Qing sister, is that the airglow? It isn't an Earth explosion, right?"
With only the strength of the third level of Visualization, Zheng Qing wasn't qualified to know about the Immortals' information. However, Zhou Ying was different: the logistics department considered her to have potential and intentionally cultivated her, allowing her to follow Zheng Qing and thus know some internal Immortal affairs.
Entering Moon City, before them lay a large lake, with the Earth-Moon Bridge built over it, and across the lake stood 'Moon City'—the name used by Earthlings that had gradually become its official title.
"Puff!" A colossal beast spouted water towards the sky, raising a spectacular rainbow over the lake.
Zhou Ying was busy taking pictures, momentarily asking, "Qing sister, where's Li Qianxia?"
"She's with guests today, entertaining them, and told us to go straight there."
"Okay, I've read the guide. We should ride the Sha Tuo Beast—"
Zhou Ying hadn't finished when Zheng Qing rented a small flying car, which was the most liberating option among the various modes of transport.
"A flying car, huh? That works, a bit more freedom. Later, let's check out the lake."
Boom!
The flying car plunged into the skyscrapers and dense jungles of Moon City.
Zhou Ying envied the Sha Tuo Beasts walking on the Earth-Moon Bridge and the crescent boats and sea creatures on the lake so much she was almost in tears.
Once the flying car parked on the landing pad of the 25th floor of a large building, Zhou Ying, who had been fussing during the ride, checked her phone to find that all the photos she had taken were blurry blobs of colors.
"Did you come here to sightsee?" Zheng Qing asked.
"When we came, it was you, Qing sister, who said to treat this as a vacation!" Zhou Ying argued indignantly.
"...And you took it seriously."
After parking the flying car, they entered the building. The 25th floor was a gaming arcade, offering a plethora of immersive games for all to enjoy.
Zhou Ying even saw a Pokemon battle, where Pikachu and Gyarados looked so real they seemed touchable. Not just kids, adults too were playing, completely engrossed.
