Monster Gacha System: Becoming The Final Boss

Chapter 110 | Rescuing the Experimented Subjects

In the outskirts of the underground federal installation, several children wandered through the dark forest shaded by the night sky. They wore white robes, bodies filled with scars of experimentation.

All of them had lost hope after being tortured for years within the fluorescent lights of the facility. But out of nowhere, they were freed from their shackles.

No soldiers or scientists stopped them when they walked out of the facility. There was nothing but destruction in the midst of those dreaded hallways.

Before them was a shadow, a silhouette that made them freeze. It reminded them of a familiar tenderness, warmth that felt coarse in their pale skin.

"I am glad that all of you managed to escape that horrible place." A gentle voice echoed from the darkness as a jet-black haired woman emerged from the shade.

Her amethyst-like irises gleamed like gemstones, mesmerizing some of the children in the group. However, none stepped forward.

Cautious and fearful of the one in front of them.

"I believe all of you have heard of me... Whether it'd be from your dreams or somewhere else." Hecate fondly smiled at the group of children, giving a maternal aura.

The children realized what she meant, recalling the soothing voice they randomly heard in the underground facility. It gave them warmth in the cold corners of the installation.

If not for it, they wouldn't have left that facility when given the chance. After all, they would be too broken to even bother escaping.

A little girl stepped forward, her hair as green as the lush leaves of the summer day. "Are you Miss Ghost? The one all of us heard?"

"Oh~ Is that the name you gave me? Interesting~" Hecate softly grinned at the kids. "Do you know why I'm here in front of you?"

"I-I remembered what you said before... You want us to not give up and continue fighting. If we did, you would come get us." The green-haired little girl vocalized.

Hecate nodded in agreement and gently replied. "That's right. I was the one who punished those who hurt you alongside my partner."

From the darkness, a young man emerged, his eyes resembling sapphire. Strands of his silver white hair fluttered in the breeze as he stood beside Hecate.

The girls in the group widened their eyes; the word handsome surged through their minds. It reminded them of the men in old magazines.

In the meantime, the boys looked at him with admiration. They wanted to be cool, though they were denied the opportunity to do so when imprisoned in the underground installation.

"The two of us have been rescuing children such as you, trapped and tortured beneath the ground," Hecate announced and added.

"Would you like to return to your families?" she inquired, but none of the children replied. She understood why no answers came.

After all, targets for experiments tend to be those who lack connections or have lost said relationships. It made it easy for them to disappear from the world.

In simpler terms, those without homes or orphans.

"The two of us are planning to head towards New Janus. An orphanage will be built there where all of you would be able to live your lives without fearing the monsters who tortured you."

Hecate affirmed, earning the confused gazes of the kids. The green-haired little girl tilted her head and asked. "Wouldn't the bad people merely find us again and take us away?"

"They can try..." The jet-black haired woman patted her head and continued. "My partner and I are strong. As you can see, none could stop us."

The earth rumbled as the underground facility self-destructed. "No matter what they do. Those monsters wouldn't be able to hurt any of you ever again."

The children didn't give a single reply, earning the soft sigh of Hecate. "I understand... You cannot trust a stranger whose name you do not know."

However, the green-haired little girl shook her head. "It is not about trust, Miss Ghost. I think that we shouldn't trouble others and use their sympathy."

"Besides, fighting against those people might be easy. But they are much larger than you imagine." She widened her arms as though describing the size of the Federation.

Hecate chuckled at the sight, ruffling the green hair of the little girl. "I think you are understanding me and my partner a bit too much."

"We might not be as strong as the Paragons, but the ones who can fight us below those who stand on the summit can be counted by one hand."

"You should trust, not our character. But our power." She smirked at the little one, pinching her soft cheeks. "You remind me of our junior."

"You're right about that." Damien finally spoke, looking at the green-haired little girl. The way she acted reminded him of Hawk, the partner of Echidna. Two of which were his juniors.

"These children are cute. It was unfortunate that they were harmed by monsters." Hecate sighed, tilting her head as she placed a finger beneath her chin.

"We granted them an easy death."

"It might look easy, but it might be the worst death for them." Damien shook his head and continued. "After all, those are the types who consider themselves as pioneers."

"Heralds of humanity's future."

"What is much worse to them than being forgotten alongside your work?" He remarked, prompting Hecate to nod in agreement. "That I agree..."

Emerging from the shadows was a wolf, attracting the attention of the children. It was pitch-black, an inkless monster. Yet, the kids didn't show fear.

After all, they recognized it as the guardian that guided them out of the underground facility. The one who had saved them and led them to Miss Ghost. So, there was nothing but gratefulness in their eyes.

Such was the simplicity of children.

Damien patted the Shadow Wolf's head, ruffling its fur. "Thank you for helping me guide those children and take care of the variables inside the facility."

"I appreciate your help."

The Shadow Wolf howled, its black tail wagging as it faded into the darkness. As long as it was of assistance to its lord, there was nothing better.

Damien smiled and turned his attention towards the children. "It's time for us to leave this place. After all, the ones behind your capture and torture would start investigating the surroundings."

"My partner is right... This isn't the best place to converse, so how about we go somewhere better?" Hecate grinned at the children, who nodded simultaneously.

"Alright, let us not waste a single moment." Seeing the agreement of everyone, Damien activated his personal skill, Raptured Blink.

In an instant, when reality cracked, his partner and the experimented children teleported away. Silence crept into the dark forest as helicopters echoed from the distance.

Staring in the direction of these rumbling aerial vehicles, Damien muttered under his breath. "One last underground installation."

The things they had discovered from these secret facilities were terrible and maddening. But what was most important was the identities of those above it.

There were five executives related to the underground facilities, four of whom had their identities exposed. It was only a matter of time until Block 7 took care of them.

"Ten children survived from the hundreds that came into the installation. A total of 48, if we include the children of the facilities before this one."

"So, 48 children out of over a thousand. The mortality rate is high." Damien narrowed his eyes, a tinge of coldness glinting from them.

"But it wasn't all for naught. At the very least, we manage to save some of these kids from their inevitable deaths and stop the horrendous experimentations."

"Regardless, however... The Federation must pay one way or the other." Damien took a deep breath and opened his status display.

It was time to start spinning for more Extraterrestrial Monsters. After all, the amount of Terror Points he had reaped from these underground facilities wasn't to be underestimated.
