The Young Urban Doctor

Chapter 1934: Fleeting Life Endless Regrets Scant Joy

As Luo Ziling and Wuyue were leaving the Northern Group headquarters together, a middle-aged man around fifty years old was discussing something with his son in an apartment about two kilometers away.

"I didn't expect him to travel by ride-hailing service," the young man said to his father with a look of regret. "It's a pity we didn't notice this in time, otherwise we could have easily taken him out."

"I told you to closely monitor his movements, yet you were careless," the middle-aged man sternly admonished his son. "How many times have I told you, strike as soon as you have a chance. Such a good opportunity—if we knew he was traveling without bodyguards, we could easily remove him while he was in that car. Even if we couldn't kill him, causing a crash during an argument with the driver could seriously injure him."

"Dad, his movements are tough to track," the young man replied with frustration. "The people around him are very skilled and have strong anti-tracking abilities. He's very skilled himself. There are places he goes that we don't dare to follow. So it's really hard to keep track of his movements."

"Your cousin was killed by him, and he severely harmed our interests. No matter the cost, we must eliminate him," the middle-aged man said, with a murderous gleam in his eyes. "Though it's a sensitive time now, as long as we don't expose ourselves and our trails, stirring things up isn't a bad thing."

"Dad, I understand. The more chaotic the situation, the better. After all, it's already chaotic enough," the young man smiled. "I won't let you down."

"Don't miss any more opportunities." The middle-aged man waved wearily at his son, and as his son opened the door to leave, he added, "Make sure to visit your uncle often. He's devastated by your brother's death, talking with him more will do you good."

"Dad, I understand!" The young man nodded solemnly before leaving.

After leaving the apartment building, the young man took his bodyguards with him, preparing to have dinner.

Today, he had already made arrangements to dine with a few friends.

However, just after the car left the parking lot, the vehicle his bodyguards were in sent an alert message saying they were being followed.

At the same time as sending the alert, the bodyguard's vehicle took action by slightly lowering its speed to cover for the lead vehicle's escape.

However, just as they made their move, the vehicle following them turned off at an intersection, ceasing its pursuit.

The bodyguards remained vigilant, unwilling to let their guard down.

Although no further unusual activities were detected.

Being followed suddenly was still enough to put the young man's bodyguards on high alert.

The young man felt an ominous premonition as well, so after getting out of the car, he called his lead bodyguard over and gave some careful instructions.

While the young man was sternly instructing his bodyguards, Luo Ziling and Wuyue had already left the Northern Group headquarters.

"Young Master, where to?" After arriving at the parking lot, Wuyue quietly asked Luo Ziling, "To school or home?"

Luo Ziling responded with a question, "Is my grandfather home?"

"The old master should be back, he went out this afternoon," Wuyue said, making a call to confirm.

The person on the other end informed Wuyue that Luo Liansheng had returned to the villa an hour ago.

"In that case, let's go back to the villa; I want to have a chat with Grandpa."

Wuyue said no more and drove toward the villa.

When Luo Ziling returned to the villa, Luo Liansheng was there practicing calligraphy.

Upon seeing Luo Ziling enter, he eagerly called out, "Ling'er, come quickly and see how your grandpa's writing turned out!"

Luo Ziling walked over and saw that his grandfather was writing Song Qi's famous work, "Yulou Chun" from the Song Dynasty.

"In the eastern city, spring blooms brilliantly; rippling reflections greet the guest's boat. Fields of green willow line the smokey horizon, with boughs of red apricot celebrating spring's arrival as well."

Seeing that he had only written these four lines, Luo Ziling laughed and asked Luo Liansheng, "Grandpa, why've you only written four lines?"

"I just started writing," Luo Liansheng said with a beaming smile. "This calligraphy is for your Great Grandfather."

"Oh?!" Luo Ziling was a little surprised.

Luo Liansheng wouldn't mention giving calligraphy to Ling Jinhua without reason. After another glance at the content he was writing, Luo Ziling began to understand.

"Grandpa, then continue writing!" Luo Ziling laughed. "This poem is popular and vibrant, just looking at it fills one with a sense of spring. And the implication is excellent as well. A fleeting life's pleasures are too few; if one could charm a lovely smile for a fortune, smiling brighter still. When Great Grandfather sees it, perhaps his spirits will lift too."

"Or, perhaps you could write the latter half," Luo Liansheng handed the pen to Luo Ziling, "Your sudden intrusion disturbed my mood; I can't capture the original flavor anymore."

Luo Ziling looked at Luo Liansheng, understood what he meant, and gladly took the pen without refusing.

"A fleeting life's pleasures are too few; if one could charm a lovely smile for a fortune, I urge thee, take a moment before the setting sun leaves; come pause a while and amidst flowers wait for twilight to linger." The latter half of the poem swiftly materialized under Luo Ziling's pen.

Both the grandfather and grandson had impressive calligraphy skills.

Luo Ziling learned calligraphy from Luo Liansheng, but his skills had surpassed his teacher's.

Luo Liansheng's art reflected his age: no longer flamboyant, but rather restrained. In contrast, Luo Ziling's style was different, displaying vigor and the boldness of youth, evident in his characters.

The saying "words reflect the person" truly holds merit here.

But today, Luo Ziling wrote conservatively to match his grandfather's calligraphy style, not fully revealing his own personality.

Thus, to those unfamiliar with calligraphy, the entire poem's front and back sections appeared uniform, with no noticeable differences. However, anyone with calligraphy knowledge immediately discerned the differences between the first and second halves.

After laying down the pen, Luo Ziling asked Luo Liansheng, "Grandpa, if Great Grandfather asks why there's a difference between the front and back of this piece, how should we respond?"

"Just tell him it reflects the intentions of his grandson and great-grandson," Luo Liansheng replied.

"Haha, I hope Great Grandfather understands our intentions," Luo Ziling laughed.

Luo Liansheng joined in on the laughter.

Standing aside, quietly watching, Wuyue looked utterly mystified.

She didn't understand the meaning between the grandfather and grandson but was too embarrassed to inquire.

After the laughter subsided, Luo Ziling said to Luo Liansheng, "Grandpa, Fang Dongxun invited us to dinner one day."

"If they extend the invitation, then accept it," Luo Liansheng said to Luo Ziling. "Prepare another piece of calligraphy as a gift."

"Okay!" Luo Ziling readily agreed.

Just as Luo Ziling was tidying up the previous calligraphy to write another, Yang Xiaodong and Wang Zhenjun entered quickly from outside.

Noticing their expressions, Luo Ziling knew they had an urgent report.

So he set aside the pen, smiled, and said to Luo Liansheng, "Grandpa, let me think about what to write next, and I'll continue in a bit."

"Alright, Grandpa will take a bath first and then come back to watch you write!"

After Luo Liansheng left, Yang Xiaodong and Wang Zhenjun hurriedly approached Luo Ziling to report an astonishing piece of news.
