Phoenix and Lin Lan took a moment before they understood what Li Haiyang meant.
They were very surprised, not expecting the always principled Li Haiyang to instruct them in such a manner.
However, they didn't dare question it, and could only agree.
Luo Ziling guessed that Li Haiyang must have special motives, maybe even selfish ones, but he couldn't figure out what exactly.
Then, Li Haiyang spoke about some other matters.
He hoped that in the future, Luo Ziling could help Dragon Rise make more medicines, whether for saving people or harming them.
Luo Ziling did not refuse, agreeing readily.
Li Haiyang said nothing more and just focused on eating.
He didn't drink much, only two glasses.
Neither Lin Lan nor Phoenix made any comment.
After finishing dinner, the three of them left Li Haiyang's residence.
"Let's go to Lin Lan's place," Phoenix said, walking ahead before Luo Ziling could respond.
Lin Lan silently followed, and Luo Ziling had no choice but to walk behind them.
"What do you want to tell me?" Luo Ziling couldn't help but ask as they approached Lin Lan's building.
Phoenix didn't answer, continuing to walk ahead.
Lin Lan turned to glance at Luo Ziling but didn't say anything either.
This left Luo Ziling quite frustrated.
When Lin Lan opened the door and let him in, he didn't enter right away.
"If there's nothing you want to say, I'll be leaving. I'm busy and don't have time for guessing games."
Luo Ziling was a bit annoyed; he hated when women acted like this in front of him.
Phoenix still ignored Luo Ziling and walked straight into the room.
Lin Lan just looked at Luo Ziling quietly and also went inside.
Luo Ziling turned and left, walking very quickly.
By the time Phoenix and Lin Lan reacted, he had already disappeared from their view.
The two women exchanged looks for a moment, and then Lin Lan was the first to respond.
She quickly ran out of the room to chase Luo Ziling.
By the time Lin Lan caught up to the base entrance, Luo Ziling had already reached the gatehouse.
The car Yang Xiaodong was driving was parked just outside the first checkpoint.
When Lin Lan reached the gatehouse, Luo Ziling had already gotten into the car.
Lin Lan didn't chase any further. She stopped at the gatehouse, watching Luo Ziling get in the car and drive away.
She was very angry.
Luo Ziling hadn't come to see her in so long, hadn't cared about her, and today she just threw a little tantrum, and he stormed off. The grievances in her heart, she didn't even know how to describe.
At that moment, she felt she could just shoot Luo Ziling dead right in front of her.
The sentry at the gate looked at the dazed Lin Lan with a face full of confusion, not understanding what had happened.
But then something unexpected happened, the car that had just driven away came back around.
After the car stopped near the gatehouse, Luo Ziling got out.
Lin Lan sighed, said something to the sentry, walked out of the gatehouse, and approached Luo Ziling.
"This is a supplement for you, I forgot to give it to you just now." Luo Ziling handed a bag to Lin Lan, then took out another bag, "This is for Phoenix, instructions are inside, for body conditioning. I'm not being petty with you, I dislike your attitude, no one owes you anything, stop acting like everyone has to cater to your whims."
After a pause, he continued, "If there's something, just tell me."
"What's wrong today?" Lin Lan asked Luo Ziling with a puzzled look, "Is it necessary to be like this?"
"Seeing you guys act like this just made me angry." Luo Ziling was a bit embarrassed, "I got irrationally emotional."
Lin Lan lowered her head and quietly asked, "Are you mad at me?"
Luo Ziling thought for a moment, then finally didn't deny it: "Seems like I am."
"Hmph," Lin Lan huffed, full of resentment, "Can't I be mad at you? No one is more petty than you, just turning to leave like that."
"I'm just annoyed with your captain. Obviously, there's something to ask of me, but every time she acts all high and mighty. I have no problem with you, just can't stand her attitude." Luo Ziling also realized he was impulsive just now.
He was partly taking it out on Lin Lan, dissatisfied with Phoenix's arrogance.
He'd crossed paths with Phoenix several times, even had a fight, but Luo Ziling never managed to subdue her. Seeing Phoenix deliberately acting cool made him mad. He'd rather not speak than lose face.
That's why he behaved like that.
He came back for Lin Lan's sake.
"We actually have something to talk to you about today," Lin Lan said softly, "Lately, the captain's been dealing with a lot, so she's a bit on edge."
"I have a lot going on too. There aren't many students as busy as me, and probably only I am the one being set up this often in the whole world." Luo Ziling took the opportunity to relent, no longer throwing a tantrum, agreeing to Lin Lan's request: "Alright, let's go back and talk."
Lin Lan didn't say anything else, leading the way.
In a dim spot, she reached out and pinched Luo Ziling, expressing her discontent: "You're so annoying."
Luo Ziling slapped Lin Lan's butt, making her let out a low yelp, then fiercely threatened: "Just because you're older, doesn't mean you can throw a fit at me."
"Who says older people can't throw a fit?" Lin Lan kicked Luo Ziling, "If you keep being handsy, believe me, I'll ignore you."
"I believe it, I won't be handsy, okay?"
As they spoke, they returned to Lin Lan's place.
Phoenix was still there; her expression didn't reveal much, but when Luo Ziling looked at her, he could still sense her inner anger.
"So, what do you need help with?" Luo Ziling plopped down on the sofa, asking Phoenix with annoyance, "Asking me to do something and putting on this sour face. Next time, I won't bother with you."
"If you continue to act on impulse, we'll cancel our cooperation with you," Phoenix coldly threatened.
"Cancel then. Like I can't live without you guys." Luo Ziling retorted, "Have I helped you more, or have you helped me more? I don't owe you anything; I've helped you a lot. I hope you will remember that."
"Captain, let's just talk business," Lin Lan couldn't help but chime in, "Ziling's been dealing with a lot lately, so his mood's not great, don't mind him."
Phoenix coldly glared at Lin Lan, finally not arguing with Luo Ziling anymore.
"The operation we didn't complete last time, we plan to do it again, so we need your help," Phoenix said after taking a couple of deep breaths, "We need some special medicines; hope you can assist us."
"Is that any attitude when asking for a favor?" Luo Ziling put on airs. "Apologize first!"
"Aren't you aware that even if your father takes office, he'll face a very complicated situation?" Phoenix's face grew colder.
"That's his business, not mine."
Luo Ziling's words changed both Phoenix's and Lin Lan's expressions.
