The Young Urban Doctor

Chapter 120 I'll Support You

The next morning, Luo Ziling got into Lin Lan's car at the agreed time.

Lin Lan, still dressed as usual in her cool leather jacket and pants, was driving a very flashy Hummer.

After riding with her for a few days, Luo Ziling had come to recognize what brand the domineering-looking vehicle was, something he learned from asking the three guys in his dormitory, as Lin Lan would definitely not tell him.

Lin Lan's cool demeanor matched the style of the car quite well. Luo Ziling couldn't imagine what it would be like if Lin Lan drove a little MINI.

After exchanging simple greetings, Lin Lan drove off in silence, the car speeding along swiftly.

Once they were outside the Yan University campus area, Lin Lan rarely initiated conversation, "Starting tomorrow, I'll be away for a few days and won't be able to pick you up!"

"Is that so," Luo Ziling was a bit surprised and asked subconsciously, "Where are you going?"

Lin Lan didn't answer, and Luo Ziling couldn't help feeling a bit awkward.

Seeing the embarrassment on Luo Ziling's face, Lin Lan thought for a moment and finally replied, "Heading to the south!"

"On a mission?" Seeing that Lin Lan was willing to offer an explanation, Luo Ziling followed up with another question, and quickly added, "I'm not trying to pry, I just feel that your current physical condition isn't suitable for missions. I know that you must have been injured while on a mission last time. You haven't fully recovered yet, your condition is much worse than before, and the wound you later opened up... it hasn't fully healed..."

Luo Ziling stopped speaking when Lin Lan gave him a glance. He knew his words were out of place; the affairs of Lin Lan's military unit weren't for him to criticize or direct. How they arranged their tasks was beyond his influence.

"Thank you for your concern," Lin Lan wasn't annoyed, "I'm not going on a mission, but on other official business. My injury isn't suitable for missions yet, and I need several more months of recovery!"

For Lin Lan, speaking so much at once and explaining anything to a man was an unprecedented event.

Lin Lan's explanation also relieved Luo Ziling, and after thinking for a moment, he said, "That's good, wait a few more months until your physical functions have fully recovered; only then will you be out of danger. But the risks of your missions are too great; just thinking about it is frightening. Be careful in the future—life is the utmost priority!"

Lin Lan turned her head to look at Luo Ziling, seemed about to say something but ultimately remained silent.

Luo Ziling also suddenly didn't know what to say, and it felt a little awkward.

"The chief's illness will also have to be put on hold for a while, as he is heading south as well," Lin Lan thought for a while, then still decided to tell Luo Ziling, "After today's consultation for him, give some additional medical advice. I've prepared about half a month's worth of medication for him, and also teach his caretakers about the other treatments, would that be okay?"

Considering that Lin Lan had spoken so much to him in one go, Luo Ziling agreed readily, "No problem!"

He then immediately added, "Actually, for the senior's condition, after so many days of acupuncture, it should be paused for a few days to observe the effects before deciding whether to continue and how to proceed. It's a good plan you have there. Let's stop the acupuncture treatments for the next few days, and I'll arrange the moxibustion therapy. Once he's back from the south, we can see how to continue!"

Of course, that was Luo Ziling consoling Lin Lan. In reality, under normal circumstances, Li Haiyang should continue with acupuncture treatments for a few more days to assess the results before deciding whether to change the treatment plan.

To take a temporary break from acupuncture was indeed necessary, but not right now.

Since both Li Haiyang and Lin Lan were going to the south, Luo Ziling decided that after today's treatment, he would temporarily suspend the acupuncture therapy for a while.

It was very draining to treat Li Haiyang. Acupuncture required the manipulation of "qi" to guide the needles, and even though Luo Ziling had more stamina than the average person, it was still exhausting. Each time after the treatment ended, his body felt depleted.

By pausing the treatment, he could also take the chance to properly recover his own vitality.

However, the thought of not seeing Lin Lan for several days still left Luo Ziling with a slight sense of loss. It wasn't that he had feelings for Lin Lan, but rather because she was someone he had saved, and they had shared a few days of close contact, making their relationship feel quite special. He had grown accustomed to taking her car to that unfamiliar place every day and using it as an excuse to avoid military training. Naturally, he felt a bit down about the change.

As the car was nearing that mysterious place, Lin Lan suddenly spoke up in a soft voice, requesting, "If possible, could you treat the scar on my leg today?"

Luo Ziling looked at Lin Lan in astonishment, not understanding why she would make such a request.

Last time, after treating the scar on her chest, he had reminded her that it would be better to wait until the wounds on her upper body were fully healed before dealing with the scars below, as it would have less impact on her mobility.

Seeing Luo Ziling looking at her quizzically, Lin Lan became a bit shy, her face flushing a pale pink, and after thinking it over, she explained, "This way, when I come back, all the wounds could have healed."

"Alright then!" Since Lin Lan had taken the initiative to ask, Luo Ziling found it hard to refuse.

Following Lin Lan into the small building where Li Haiyang was staying, and after exchanging greetings, Luo Ziling also explained the treatment arrangements to him.

Li Haiyang, aware that Lin Lan had told Luo Ziling some things, didn't mind and, after laughing heartily, accepted Luo Ziling's arrangement, "Ziling, I know you've been treating me using 'qi' manipulation, and this method is very effective, but it's also very demanding on your vitality, and my body is somewhat struggling to cope. Taking a break for a few days is beneficial for both of us. I will be in the south for a few days and, upon my return, I believe that both you and I will have recuperated. Then I can resume your treatment. I'm confident that, with your help, I will be able to stand up again!"

"Chief, you will definitely be able to stand!" Standing to the side, Lin Lan spoke with emotion, "We all hope you can lead us in battle once again!"

Li Haiyang didn't say much, only nodding slightly towards Lin Lan.

Before starting the acupuncture treatment for Li Haiyang, Luo Ziling took care to detail the subsequent therapy methods, including moxibustion for the next half month, and the medicinal regimen. He especially instructed the caregivers to massage Li Haiyang thoroughly, making sure his muscles remained tense during the massage to aid in recovery.

What followed was an even more strenuous round of acupuncture. By the time the session ended, with Li Haiyang drenched in sweat and Luo Ziling nearly drained of energy, it was over.

Seeing Luo Ziling more fatigued than the day before, Li Haiyang instructed Lin Lan to take him to rest first and then to send him back once he had recovered.

Lin Lan readily agreed and took the initiative to help Luo Ziling up, escorting him out of the building in front of Li Haiyang.

"I can walk by myself," said Luo Ziling, feeling the softness of Lin Lan's body and breathing in the fragrance that emanated from her. He was a little moved, but once they were out of the building and in the presence of others, he felt somewhat embarrassed and shyly struggled out of Lin Lan's grip.

"Let me help you walk," Lin Lan insisted, not letting go.

As the two were struggling, several of Lin Lan's comrades happened to walk by. Seeing the affectionate scene between the two, they were momentarily stunned, casting peculiar glances their way.

This caused great embarrassment to Luo Ziling.
