I Made The World Mutate

Chapter 799: If Only I Had Known

"How mysterious," Li Gujian exclaimed, finding the strange incidents described by Zhao Jingyan difficult to comprehend.

"Brother Zhao, do you have any idea what's behind these peculiar incidents?"

"I don't," Zhao Jingyan shook his head. "These are all mysterious events that took place in the village. Some investigations were arranged, but they never had the chance to be completed."

"Why not?" Li Gujian was puzzled, unable to fathom why the investigations were always too late.

Zhao Jingyan replied, "Every time an investigation was conducted, the people involved in these peculiar incidents would die. They died in tragic ways, and over time, whenever there were strange events, no one dared to speak of them publicly."

Xiao Mu slightly raised his hand, a subtle movement that immediately captured the attention of Zhao Jingyan and Li Gujian.

Both men ceased their conversation almost simultaneously and looked earnestly at Xiao Mu.

Xiao Mu stated dispassionately, "It is the work of Divine Spirits. Twilight Forest Village doesn't have any Divine Spirits, does it?"

As he spoke, Xiao Mu glanced at Zhao Jingyan.

Zhao Jingyan nodded in agreement. The Divine Spirits Xiao Mu mentioned were not of the spiritual realm, but those who possessed divine ranks and honors. Such powerful beings were nonexistent in Twilight Forest Village.

"This matter is highly likely related to beings from beyond our world. I will investigate and clarify the situation."

To be expected of Brother Mu! So formidable! He doesn't even consider Divine Spirits a threat; Brother Mu must be at least a Divine Spirit himself!

Li Gujian and Zhao Jingyan exchanged glances, both inwardly exclaiming in admiration. Despite Xiao Mu having shown no display of power, his nonchalant attitude when mentioning Divine Spirits greatly surprised them both.

"Brother Mu, may I report the connection between these strange events and Divine Spirits to the higher-ups of the Village Protection Team?" Li Gujian suddenly asked cautiously.

He was somewhat uneasy, aware that information linked to Divine Spirits could bring him merits, yet concerned that Xiao Mu might forbid him from doing so.

"Don't tell the outside world until I have investigated and reached a conclusion," Xiao Mu considered for a moment before instructing Li Gujian.

"Yes, sir!"

Li Gujian was instantly alert and quickly stood up to bow in agreement.

Xiao Mu gestured for him to sit down and continued, "If you encounter traces from beyond our world or find yourself in danger due to Mutated Beings from beyond, you may seek my assistance."

"Yes."

Li Gujian was overjoyed with the promise; now that he had Xiao Mu's support, he no longer had to worry about his own safety. After a moment of thought, and mustering some courage, he asked, "Brother Mu, if I suddenly encounter Mutated Beings from beyond, how should I inform you?"

The concern was reasonable.

Xiao Mu fell into brief contemplation; a cellphone was a means of communication but not sufficient for responding to unexpected events.

Before long, Xiao Mu thought of a solution and plucked a hair from his head.

This hair glimmered and faintly emanated Divine Power. Upon closer inspection, it could be seen divided into countless sections, each capable of exhibiting different powerful effects.

This was a result of Xiao Mu concentrating his Changeable Divine Technique into a strand of hair.

Xiao Mu's hand opened, and the hair steadily flew toward Li Gujian, who quickly reached out to catch it, looking bewilderedly at Xiao Mu.

"In case of danger, destroy this hair, and I will be notified, ready to rescue you."

With his hair modified by the Changeable Divine Technique, it possessed incredible power and could manifest half of Xiao Mu's own strength in critical situations.

"Yes, thank you, Brother Mu. With your help, I need not worry about encountering Mutated Beings from beyond anymore."

Li Gujian was ecstatic, standing up to bow earnestly in gratitude. Having Xiao Mu's backing, he felt as if he could walk with his head high.

Zhao Jingyan cast envious glances at Li Gujian, eyeing the strand of hair in Li's hand.

A regular hair looked like a life-saving charm in his eyes.

After deliberating, he finally couldn't resist and stood up, "Brother Mu, if I encounter Mutated Beings from beyond, may I report it to you as well?"

The more people reported to me, the better. The more information I have, the easier it will be to track down the Mutated Beings from beyond.

"Brother Zhao, should you encounter Mutated Beings from beyond, you can also notify me."

As he spoke, Xiao Mu gave another strand of hair to Zhao Jingyan.

Zhao Jingyan carefully tucked it away.

"Alright, Brother Zhao, Brother Li, let's end here for today. I still have some issues to consider."

Xiao Mu waved his hand, signaling the end of today's conversation.

"We wouldn't dare to disturb Brother Mu," Li Gujian quickly stood up, with Zhao Jingyan rising swiftly after him. They both formally bid Xiao Mu farewell before leaving his room.

Once they had left, Xiao Mu began to ponder his next plan.

With Li Gujian and Zhao Jingyan helping to gather information, locating the Mutated Beings from beyond would be much easier.

Compared to the effort, it was undoubtedly worth it.

"The strange occurrences in Twilight Forest Village happen often, but due to the fact that every incident that gets divulged leads to the death of those involved, the people from the village dare not tell others about the events befalling them or their families anymore."

"That hidden God behind this is truly ruthless, knowing that Twilight Forest Village doesn't have any Divine Spirits capable of breaking spells, it uses death as coercion against the villagers."

"Strange, why would that God want to control the villagers of Twilight Forest Village? And why choose ordinary people? What's there to gain from controlling them?"

"This investigation won't be easy. Starting tomorrow, I'll change my identity and take a stroll through the residential area where the common people live."

Having made his plan, Xiao Mu's thoughts immediately returned to his own strength.

Buzz!

He released the Seal of the Heavenly Emperor. The Seal spun as it flew out from within him, hovering above his head.
