Chapter 17: The Natural Historian and a Message_2

"About ten minutes," Gita replied seriously.

Her forehead glistened with fine beads of sweat, her teeth clenched, making her look even more fragile.

At the same time, she introduced to everyone, "This is the 'Magic Guided Book's' most common 'Reenact' ability. My level is too low, and I've only mastered this skill. Moreover, the things I can 'reenact' are limited, and I can't make any alterations."

"That's impressive, Miss Gita," Bakins said, sharing his cut tobacco with the Big Cat People and packing it into his pipe. He analyzed the ability from a warrior's perspective, "If you can use this ability on the battlefield, it can cover several enemies within an area of ten by ten meters, restricting their ability to move significantly—"

"Indeed, it's quite good," Reed agreed with Bakins' remarks, "It can also be used to protect our own people at critical moments. Besides, in such an environment, even I might not be a match for Atira."

Gita couldn't help but look towards the Elf Miss, obviously because for this reason, she had first mastered these few key vocabulary words—the key ability of a Natural Historian comes from the richness of vocabulary.

They employ their 'Magic Guided Books' with specialized vocabulary; only words rich in magic power can harness the miraculous abilities of the books themselves.

"Thank you, Gita." Atira nodded at the young girl.

Gita held her 'Magic Guided Book,' her cheeks slightly flushed.

In her heart, she had always been eager to help others and not just be a useless Trainee in the team. And now it was still far from enough. Once she mastered the ability to change, she could make the rainforest transparent on her own side exclusively.

She could even bring the rainforest to life to attack their enemies, but this was just the most basic ability of a Natural Historian. Once she reached a higher level, she could produce more terrains or even reenact ancient scenes, summoning ancient monsters and legendary beings from myths.

She looked at the open page in her hands, one side of which was a crystal cover housing a miniature version of the current aquatic jungle, reenacting the mirage-like scenery within the crystal cover.

Or rather, the jungle before them was the projection of this Phantom Realm, and on the other side of the page, a corresponding cavity filled with complex energy conduits and magic power routes formed an array far more complicated than any that a Magic Guided Conductor could use.

To this day, craftsmen still couldn't understand how it worked.

That was the core of the 'Magic Guided Book.'

It couldn't be damaged, and even if lost, it would reappear in the hands of its Contractor after a day.

People once speculated that 'Magic Guided Books' were the creations of deities, but they appeared in history much later than the Sun Gods, and the Oly Pantheon never crafted any 'Magic Guided Books.'

Tianlan then added, "And an environment rich in Water Attribute Magic Power would be very suitable for Luo Yu to perform, right? Isn't someone a Rain Summoner?"

A Rain Summoner is a branch of Elementalist, specializing in the Water System with a secondary in the Wind System. It might sound like it lacks offensive power, but in reality, it is one of the most calculation and Analysis Ability-demanding Advanced roles among Elementalists.

And it was exactly this water-wind direction that Fang Hong recommended for Luo Yu's advancement because of his excellent calculation and Analysis Ability, maximizing his potential in this profession.

Hearing Tianlan's words, Luo Yu nodded as well.

He looked up at the rainforest; though only a phantom, he could clearly feel the Water Element gathering from all directions, its concentration even much higher than in a real aquatic jungle.

The environment created by a Natural Historian seemed to enrich Elemental Magic Power corresponding to the environment's attributes.

He raised his Magic Guided Wand in his right hand, and a golden light trail flashed across the silver conduits at the top of the wand, while in the open palm of his left hand, the same light weaved through, forming the internal crystalline structure of a Crystal.

This was an Elemental Crystal, an artificially crafted crystal with Attribute structure but devoid of Ether Magic Power.

The biggest difference between an Elementalist's Magic Guided Wand and a Magician's is that the latter generates magic arrays with light tracks, then inscribes different Runes with Magic Guided Gloves to activate various Spell effects of the arrays.

How many spells a Magician commands depends on how many magic arrays can be inscribed in advance within their wand, and how many activation methods each array can have.

An Elementalist's wand, however, is used to craft Elemental Crystals. Elemental Crystals are simple arrays, typically with only one way to be activated. But the strength of an Elementalist lies in creating Elemental Crystals as needed on the battlefield, whereas a Magician, changing the arrays installed in their wand, requires assistance from an Alchemist and usually takes half a day to accomplish.

However, the issue for Elementalists is that making Attribute Crystals must correspond with their elemental affinity, so normally an Elementalist will specialize in one elemental system and supplement it with another.

Moreover, due to the presence of arrays, the speed of casting by a Magician is much faster than that of an Elementalist, whose speed in crafting crystals depends on his understanding and computational ability for different elements.

Furthermore, infusing Void Crystals with surrounding Elemental Magic Power requires strong Analysis Ability, especially for the elements of Water and Wind, which display erratic states of magic power.
