Pillar of Yita

Chapter 236 Legend VIII

As soon as Fang Hong landed, he stowed away the light of Pale Glory on his hand. After using it several times, he faintly felt a connection forming between the mark and himself, allowing him to use it more adeptly, but beyond that, it seemed to serve no other purpose.

He didn't know whether this was good or bad. Although the mark had saved him a few crucial times, on the other hand, it seemed that without it, he wouldn't have gotten involved in so much trouble.

However, that's all he could think. Something that an Invoker of Miya's level and the Descendants of Flor were anxious to obtain couldn't be too bad, could it?

At that moment, the military personnel's voice came through the communication channel, asking him what had happened before, but Fang Hong didn't plan to answer. He simply knelt on the ground and with a "click", inserted two power plugins into the interface of his Magic Guided Reactor.

After placing the plugins, Fang Hong stood up and surveyed his surroundings — not far away was a tall building in the style of Xinsas, its purpose unclear, possibly a Holy Sanctuary or perhaps a step-pyramid watchtower.

Fang Hong knew well that with Pale Glory on him, he should not stay long. He aimed at the building's outer wall, shot out his Flying Claw, leapt, and effortlessly climbed onto the roof with his hands.

The wealth of Silver Weslan allowed him access to some finely crafted minor masterpieces of plugins. Although the interface of the Emerald Bird αAE Magic Guided Reactor was limited, the two pieces (47 strength) he chose were enough to match his strength rating to E-, about equivalent to a basic Level 10 warrior.

It might not be enough for combat, but more than sufficient for climbing — especially since an Alchemist's gear wasn't very heavy.

After reaching the roof, Fang Hong glanced at his Magic Guided Reactor. With two plugins around level 10, the magic power output had severely decreased, the brass needle hovering dangerously near the critical line.

The Emerald Bird αAE Magic Guided Reactor at Level 5 was a rarity but inadequate at this stage. Its output limitation couldn't even match the Type-One Crystal β configuration. Indeed, Fang Hong had been considering replacing his reactor after reaching Golande.

This situation further intensified such thoughts.

Just then, a shadow attacked from behind. "Be careful!" Sophie yelled through the channel. Fang Hong turned around only to meet a pair of golden-red eyes filled with greed and frenzy, and the black wings of the attacker stirred up a wild wind sweeping toward him.

Fang Hong hesitated momentarily, thinking how rapidly this diabolical creature had approached. But then, with a thought, he questioned who he should fear given he held Pale Glory, which could withstand even Nikopolas, let alone these creatures?

"Xiaya!"

"Little guy, what are you doing!"

Others screamed in fright.

The command center was also in complete disarray.

But just as the Dark Giant Dragon's claws neared Fang Hong, a blue force field appeared between him and the dragon. The latter screamed miserably as it was bounced back like a ball, crashing into a cluster of buildings with a loud bang.

Fang Hong was not surprised at all; he too was thrown back but unharmed. He spread his arms crosswise in mid-air, shooting out the Flying Claw in one direction. The claw's cable taut like a bowstring, pulling him through a beautiful arch in the air.

He aimed for one direction, released the claw, and flew out to land on a small Holy Sanctuary's roof, rolling once before standing up again.

Everyone watching was silent.

After a while, Sophie's incredulous voice came through the channel, "What was that?"

But Fang Hong was well prepared and came up with a flawless excuse: "Anti-Dragon Field."

Yet on the system interface, Sophie and Nether looked at him as if they were viewing an irredeemable fool.

The Construct Queen coughed lightly, "Little fool, that's a Dragon Knight's power."

"Ah?"

Fang Hong was also startled, "Wait, but isn't the Anti-Dragon Field a Magic Guided Equipment skill?"

Sophie was somewhat speechless, "That Magic Guided Equipment is a Dragon Knight Construct."

"..."

Fang Hong then realized, the Dragon Speaker's 'Twelfth Dimension' so-called 'Magic Guided Equipment' was actually a Dragon Knight Construct. But this person really should have clarified, shouldn't he? Can a Dragon Knight Construct really be compared to ordinary Magic Guided Equipment?

And it turned out that not many people knew this, at least he didn't, while those from the military and the Grand Guild were precisely the ones outside this loop.

Naturally, Fang Hong realized he had embarrassed himself, so he closed his mouth and said nothing. Sophie looked at him smilingly, seeing him always being surprising, and even finding his naive moments somewhat adorable.

Luckily, no one pursued the matter too deeply. It's not strange for a Chosen to have their own trump cards and secrets, this is true both for Free Summoners and for the major guilds.

People couldn't help but find it amusing, though, that Fang Hong used the Anti-Dragon Field, a renowned ability of the Dragon Speaker 'Twelfth Dimension', as an excuse — he really had shot himself in the foot there.

With a strained face, Fang Hong looked around at the environment.

The Holy Sanctuary beneath his feet was just a small shrine, once possibly belonging to some unknown deity of the Serpent People. Such deities were not uncommon in that era.
