After a few rounds of exchanges, as soon as the duration of the True Self Liberation ended, Xiangzi's speed immediately slowed down. However, by that time he had apparently found a more efficient way to deal with his opponent. The young man switched his staff sword between his left and right hand and called out very handsomely to an oncoming Dual Swordsman:
"Force Field, bind——"
An invisible force rose from beneath the swordsman's feet, pinning him to the spot. Although it was only for a moment, a Flying Fist roared from behind, striking him on the bridge of the nose and sending him flying backward.
Xiangzi let go and turned his attention to the next person.
That was a Gunslinger.
The Gunslinger had witnessed how his comrade had met his unfortunate fate and, scared half to death, his rotund body trembled as he prepared to retreat. But Xiangzi reached out with a beckoning gesture and chanted, "Detection Magic, Anti-Gravity!" A ripple of energy emitted from his hand, making the other's Magic Guided Reactor glow brightly before he thrust upwards and the invisible force lifted both the man and his reactor off the ground.
The effectiveness of Force Field Spells, like all other spells, depends on the Practitioner's resistance to them, but at low levels, real control over spellcasters isn't prevalent. Therefore, these rag-tag enemies clearly had no experience dealing with battlefield control spells, allowing him to control each target with precision.
The young man simply tossed the man backward and shouted, "Captain, he's yours!"
"Back off a bit for me," Fang Hong shouted through gritted teeth.
He had realized that Xiangzi's Magic Guided Conductor level was higher than that of the Dual Swordsman, which meant that the former was more inclined towards traditional spellcasters.
Of course, traditional Spellcasters would never rush to the front line of a crowd.
Although Fang Hong was internally criticizing, his hands were not slow. Since the Reinforced Gloves were a Flexible Construct, he manipulated them as naturally as if they were his own limbs. Forming a sword with his hand, the Flying Fist mimicked the same motion in mid-air, and with a powerful swing, the hand-sword extended straight like a long whip sweeping at the man.
A meteor traced a beautiful arc through the sky, hitting the man precisely on the neck. The latter let out a scream and flew out like a kite with its string cut in mid-air.
"Nicely done, Captain!" Xiangzi complimented, "We work seamlessly together."
Fang Hong rolled his eyes.
He clicked and retracted his gloves, at the same time glancing through his Wind Goggles to survey the battlefield. Sure enough, the other combatants on the field were becoming aware of the threat from this direction. They initially thought Xiangzi was just a Dual Swordsman, but now, seeing that he wielded a staff in one hand and a sword in the other, they realized he was in fact a peculiar Magic Guided Conductor.
The threat posed by a free Magic Guided Conductor compared to that of a free Dual Swordsman on the battlefield was naturally incomparable.
About seven or eight people suddenly charged in their direction. Seeing this, the young man was greatly startled; his training with the Rain Listener had not included battling against multiple opponents. To be precise, any Spellcaster would invariably try to avoid such situations.
It was then that he realized he might have overextended and instinctively called out in the voice of a top-tier Chosen: "Captain, save me!"
Fang Hong was also frustrated by this scene, as he had clearly warned before, which this fellow must have taken as mere wind beside the ear and ignored. But a head-on Magic Guided Conductor naturally wouldn't come up with such a strategy without needing intellect, and now he truly had become a babysitter.
Fortunately, the opponent did have combat prowess. With a not-low Magic Guided Conductor level, close combat skills were equally adept. With limited experience, this could only be explained by talent.
No wonder the Lonely White Field took notice of this young man. Rashen, the Tip of Thebes, was capable of mastering all three magic realms under the same experience conditions as other top-tier Chosens. A large part of this was surely due to various chances and coincidences.
But more importantly, it relied on his immense individual ability.
At least up to now, Fang Hong was still quite satisfied with this juvenile's demonstrated combat strength, but to say he measured up to R back in the day might still be slightly lacking something. If forced to describe it, it would probably be intellect.
While thinking, Fang Hong took out an ordinary Clockwork Fairy and tossed it forward. The golden Clockwork Fairy buzzed as it flew past the young man at an angle, while his voice came through the team channel: "Raise a wall!"
Though it was just a simple command, Fang Hong believed that for a Chosen with excellent combat talent, two words were enough.
Xiangzi caught on immediately, leaped backward to take cover behind a root ball-like cluster, and stretched his left hand out past the tree trunk, drawing a diagonal line in the same direction as the Clockwork Fairy, "Force Field, bind——"
The invisible force field, like a giant hand, snatched up soil and debris from the ground. As it was not directed at intelligent beings, the spell's power manifested even more vividly against the non-resistant mud and gravel.
There was a loud booming sound as a wall of earth and stone rose abruptly from the ground, forming a dynamically slanted barrier.
This kind of wall was impossible to climb, but fortunately was not very long. Upon seeing it, the opponents thoughtlessly moved around it toward Fang Hong and the others, a decision that was instinctual in animals; on the brink of battle, they would naturally not go the long way round.
Unfortunately for them, this was an unconscious choice, but for Fang Hong, it was a calculated intent. No sooner had they passed the earth wall than they saw a majestic Lion Person standing before them, blocking their path with formidable presence.
