Pillar of Yita

Chapter 123 Do you want to become stronger?

"Hey, Wu Di, back to turn in your quest?"

Along the way, familiar faces greeted him, and Wu Di naturally responded with his usual habit, simply nodding his head in return.

This seemingly dismissive act was, however, seen as natural by others, for in this group, the young man's reticence was well-known, which was very different from that of his partner.

The latter seemed to make up for all the words he didn't say by being loud and easily irritated.

Of course, Wu Di understood that, privately, there must be some not-so-kind idle gossip spreading around—

But he had never cared, as he understood far better than anyone the reason for his privileges at the base. They stemmed from undeniable strength and not from being a smooth operator.

Wu Di wiped his wet hair with a dried towel, silently listening to the screams of rage from Liuli Yue coming from the entertainment room far away—his partner was playing a mini-game that was very popular among Invokers, Doto, a gadget relying on the Summoners System.

Though not complicated, it required a great deal of team coordination.

Of course, just by the sound of it, one could tell his partner's gaming experience was anything but pleasant. Sure enough, it wasn't long before the latter stormed out with a sour face.

Before long, the door was "bang" kicked open with a loud noise, and behind it emerged a little girl with an equally sullen face.

The little girl's outfit was quite distinctive.

She looked to be about thirteen or fourteen years old, yet she sported dreadlocks, wore a black leather eyepatch over her right eye tied around her head with a belt. Her top half was dressed in a tightly buttoned white blouse—though there was still no chest to be seen.

Topping it off was a tricorne hat that was too large, seemingly swiped from somewhere, almost completely covering her silver eyes.

She hurriedly pushed up her hat, careful not to hit her head on the doorframe. Meanwhile, she showed off her pearly white tiny fangs and squeaked at Liuli Yue in front of her:

"You lost again, it's all your fault!"

"How is it my fault, it's clearly your Anti-Mage playing as badly as a dog!" Liuli Yue turned around, fuming and shouted.

"What!? Blaming me? Fine then, tell me, are you or are you not an idiot?" The little girl was so angry she was hopping, her voice loud enough to attract the attention of everyone in the base.

Wu Di saw his partner seemed to be on the brink of a meltdown, but he also appeared not wanting to quarrel with the little girl, shrugging his shoulders shamelessly: "You're right, I am an idiot, so what?"

"Well then, since you're an idiot, you should listen to me, so however you put it, this loss is your fault!"

"It's none of my business," Liuli Yue pushed her away: "Get lost, little brat, I don't have time for your nonsense."

The little girl trembled with rage: "Since you admit you're an idiot, why won't you listen to me?"

"Why would an idiot listen to you? An idiot can't understand you, an idiot won't take the blame." Liuli Yue thought for a moment, then decided to fully embrace the role of an idiot.

"I have no blame to take, so naturally it's yours, get it?"

The little girl was stunned by the powerful logic in this sentence for a good while.

Then she stomped her foot and yelled, "Liuli Yue, stop right there! From now on, I'm an idiot too, I'm not human anymore!"

The argument between the two always managed to attract sidelong glances from everyone in the hall.

Meanwhile, Wu Di quietly watched these two, just gently shaking his head. As they continued their argument while approaching, the topic varied but the essence remained the same, revolving around the fundamental question of whether it was the egg that came first or the chicken—and whose blame it was.

"Let me borrow your terminal."

Liuli Yue strode over, not even asking for permission before snatching Wu Di's personal terminal, rapidly typing in something, then throwing it to the little girl:

"Here, this is for you, take a good look at it."

Wu Di glanced over and roughly saw what his partner had typed in; he had opened up an auxiliary software related to the popular game and entered the words 'Anti-Mage' into the strategy search.

He wasn't much interested in games, but knew that in Doto, this character was infamously known as a 'cancer' and 'orphan,' and this little girl seemed to have a special affection for this role.

He clearly knew what this was all about.

This little girl, led astray by his partner, was named Mu Xue, the true Little Princess of Silver Forest Spear.

It was said that she was the daughter of some high-ranking executive in the club, and theoretically, one would have expected her to be a well-bred young lady, but heaven knows how she ended up like this.

It was common knowledge in this place, and people generally gave her leeway, but the only exception was probably his own partner.

In Liuli Yue's words, he didn't want to spoil the young lady with bad habits; if capable, just fire him.

Of course, it turned out that his stubborn partner wasn't fired, and instead, it was the Little Luo who stubbornly didn't heed and actually got along quite well with his partner.

Which was quite surprising to everyone.

Of course, while they got along well, having a big fight every five days and a small argument every three was also expected.
