Pillar of Yita

Chapter 121: Assessment_3

There's nothing particularly strange about a perfect array; any alchemist with a few years of experience, including her, Mulan, and MTT, could almost effortlessly draw such an alchemy array, though not as quickly as the young man before them.

The only problem was that the level Fang Hong displayed clearly surprised her somewhat.

Soul Fingerprint put down the engraved plate in her hand, turned it over to cover it, and suddenly said to Fang Hong, "We're preparing for the next examination."

"The next examination?" Mulan was taken aback; there was no such thing mentioned. Previously, Soul Fingerprint had asked her to prepare for a simple word and engraved array examination because she only intended for this young man to participate in the first match. She had never mentioned any subsequent examinations.

But Soul Fingerprint glanced back at her, and the look was enough to send a shiver through Mulan, prompting her to quickly close her mouth and prepare for the next examination—whatever that might be, it would naturally follow the pattern of the contest.

And half an hour later—

The room was in utter silence.

Soul Fingerprint looked at the engraved plate, then at the purified materials, and finally at the semi-finished magic guided conductor. After a long while, she raised her head to look at Fang Hong, and suddenly asked an unrelated question, "Did you come from the north?"

This question made the others hesitate slightly.

Fang Hong nodded slightly.

"Who was responsible for contacting you?"

Fang Hong put down the engraving knife in his hand and looked at her, finally taking the initiative to ask, "Wait a minute, didn't Mr. Odin mention this to you?" It was a wonder in his heart earlier, as he suddenly realized that these people seemed to have a slight misunderstanding about his origin.

Cui Ning let out a chuckle at this.

But Soul Fingerprint turned back with a stern look at him, which scared the young man into quickly restraining his laughter. Only then did she turn to Fang Hong again and ask, "Have you ever met Luo Yue?"

"Luo Yue?"

Fang Hong was stunned.

"He's the contact responsible for this game," Mulan was shocked to see Fang Hong's expression as well. "He's an official from the Seventh Regiment, and he contacts each of us. Didn't he contact you?"

Fang Hong then understood that it was the Youth Training Camp's leader from Ragnarok, but how could he have met him? He was not even a member of Ragnarok, and he came to participate in this contest because Odin contacted him personally.

"Mr. Odin contacted me," he then replied, "After we separated in Nevade, I came here all the way without meeting any other officials from Ragnarok."

He paused: "Didn't Mr. Odin ever mention this to you?"

Soul Fingerprint lowered her long lashes, pondering briefly before answering, "Luo Yue indeed mentioned that you were personally arranged by the chairman. He instructed us to pick you up, but we haven't met the chairman in person."

"Aren't you from Dulun?" Fang Hong was now somewhat surprised.

"Of course not," Cui Ning replied coldly, "We came all the way from Elpaxin."

"And the chairman is not in Dulun either," Hawk-Beak Bean added.

"What?" Fang Hong was shocked again, "Mr. Odin isn't in Dulun? Where did he go?"

Soul Fingerprint shook her head: "No one knows. The Stargate Port sent signs to the top Invokers of several major guilds, and shortly after that, the chairman left Dulun."

This was something Fang Hong completely unaware of; he then realized that his time in the Hall of Thousand Doors for several months might not have coincided with the calmness as the rumors outside suggested. He suddenly understood why Lady Little Nine had left the Fairy Residence in such a hurry—

Undoubtedly because of this matter.

He fell into silence for a moment, recalling that Odin's previous reply to him was patchy, merely saying someone would pick him up in Fanric—without asking about his performance in the Hall of Thousand Doors or caring about what happened the day before Leiya left Summer's End Tower.

He initially thought it was because the other party was unconcerned about his performance, thinking he couldn't pass the required number of doors. But now it seemed that this wasn't the case; he just didn't know what happened at Stargate Port that warranted such urgency to recall people.

It should be known that the Southern Region was also in turmoil at this time.

While he pondered, Soul Fingerprint had already raised her head, her tone much softer, "Ade, you're quite skilled; it seems we'll need to redevise our strategy regarding the contest." She glanced at Fang Hong, saying, "Go and rest for a while; we'll prepare an induction ceremony for you tonight."

Fang Hong shook his head helplessly, more than skilled. For fear of scaring these people, he hadn't exerted his full effort; otherwise, with his level in the Hall of Thousand Doors, he would probably turn even simple words and engraved arrays into something unique. However, that wasn't in line with his character.

Right now, he wasn't in the mood for any induction ceremony either, still not fully recovered from the earlier shock. He couldn't help but mention, "By the way, Miss Soul Fingerprint, I don't have a formal registration identity... Did Mr. Odin mention this to you?"

If Odin hadn't brought this up, that would surely be a mess, he thought.

Fortunately, the King of Warriors apparently wasn't that negligent; Soul Fingerprint nodded, "It's already been arranged. Ragnarok has an overall quota rather than a list of participants. You just need to register your name then."

Fang Hong was stunned, realizing it was that simple.

He couldn't help but marvel how convenient privileges of the Grand Guild could be.

...

"Much better than I imagined," Mulan exclaimed as Fang Hong left, "Although not particularly handsome, he's rather cute, Sister Fingerprint. His skills seem decent too—"

While speaking, she turned back to look at the others, only to find the room unusually quiet. Not only Soul Fingerprint but also Hawk-Beak Bean and Dill remained silent. The girl picked up the materials purified from the table, appearing deep in thought.

Only Cui Ning couldn't help but ask, "You guys don't really believe he's directly contacted by the chairman, do you?"

"If not, then what?" Hawk-Beak Bean replied, "Are you saying he's deceiving us?"

Cui Ning found himself speechless.

Indeed, no one would fabricate such a fragile lie. And even though the chairman isn't present, inquiring with Luo Yue and other officials would quickly verify the truth?

Soul Fingerprint glanced at them, picked up the Red Gold Plates on the table, and Fang Hong's displayed prowess made her considerably more relaxed. Yet she maintained a stern expression, addressing the others, "Stop discussing this matter. The chairman's affairs have nothing to do with you; focus on the upcoming contest."

This statement effectively concluded the small evaluation.

Nobody dared to refute, as she was not only the leader of this team but also a senior member of Ragnarok. The people exchanged glances and fell silent. Cui Ning shook his head and left alone.

Meanwhile, Mulan dragged Dill along, saying they needed to prepare a welcome banquet for the new member. The latter looked helpless, yet couldn't refuse his 'senior.' As for the informal Hawk-Beak Bean, he shrugged and left.

Soul Fingerprint alone furrowed her brow slightly before exiting the room.
