Reverse War Surpass Immortal

Chapter 446: The Unpredictability of the Human Heart

Wu Zian and others immediately began a thorough search of the room, leaving no corner unchecked.

They even pried open the Green Stones in the stone walls, as they closely searched inside them with their Divine Sense.

"Jin Guduan, are you really saying that you haven't found any Treasure in this room?" Wu Zian asked, his tone laden with mistrust.

Duan Gujin sighed. He hadn't anticipated this outcome.

Human hearts are indeed unpredictable!

He said to Wu Zian, "I've searched this room to the best of my ability. If there's something unusual here, then I must tell you, it's this landscape painting! You should pry open the Green Stones from other places first, and it's best to dig out the stones inside. After you've dug up the other areas, we can then contemplate the mystery of this landscape painting."

Upon hearing Duan Gujin's words, Wu Zian and others' eyes flickered suspiciously.

Just as Duan Gujin had thought, all four of them harbored doubts about him.

Initially, they strongly suspected that Duan Gujin had discovered the room's secret but was hiding the truth from them for the sake of the Treasure.

But after hearing Duan Gujin's words, they believed he was unconcerned about how they searched the room, confident that they would not find any Treasure.

"Could all the clues really be in that landscape painting?"

Eventually, everyone deduced that the clues were very likely embedded within the landscape painting.

"There's nothing wrong with this landscape painting, is there?"

Wu Zian approached the painting, carefully touching its surface bit by bit, trying to find useful clues.

Seeing this, Duan Gujin sneered internally.

"I need to recuperate for a while now, you continue digging! It's fine, don't mind me! I've spent a lot of Primordial Power! My body is a bit overwhelmed!"

After saying this, Duan Gujin sat cross-legged and began to gather his Qi.

In truth, he had already restored the Primordial Power he had expended.

His sitting in meditation now was an attempt to dispel the suspicions Wu Zian and the others had about him.

He extended his Divine Sense, focusing on the landscape painting before him.

His thought was that if there really was a Treasure here, it was very likely hidden within the painting.

When he cast his Divine Sense, after a while, he suddenly furrowed his brows; he detected that parts of the landscape painting were fused with different materials.

He did not approach to investigate; his Divine Sense Detection Ability was sufficient to observe any abnormalities in the painting.

Initially, he only felt there was something odd about the painting.

But soon, he realized the painting's materials were different.

"The sun in this landscape painting is inlaid with Wuxuan Stone, the mountains below with Balingshi, and the river on that side is paved with green jade stone. Could the variance of these materials signify something special?"

Duan Gujin's eyes flickered; he felt the different materials embedded within the painting constituted a huge mystery.

An hour later, Wu Zian and the others had dug three feet into the ground in most areas of the room but still came up empty-handed.

Finally, their gaze settled on the landscape painting.

They understood that if they couldn't find the clues within the landscape painting, then they would never uncover the room's Treasure.

Earlier, Wu Zian and the others had been secretly monitoring Duan Gujin, being certain that he did not meddle with the painting while they were excavating the area.

Now they realized that Duan Gujin likely hadn't deceived them before; if there was anything unusual in the entire room, it could only be that landscape painting.

"Jin Guduan, do you know what is peculiar about this landscape painting?"

Wu Zian asked. He had pondered for quite some time, but in the end, he couldn't think of anything.

Duan Gujin slightly furrowed his brows and said: "I think this landscape painting is the treasure hider trying to tell us that they have hidden the treasure in the outside world, in a place that resembles this landscape painting."

"Do you know where this place is?"

Wu Zian asked.

Duan Gujin shook his head and said: "I really don't know; I've been thinking about which part of the Jiuzhou Continent exactly resembles this landscape painting, and we don't even know from which era this painting is. If this landscape painting is ancient, then it's troubling, because over the long years, the scenery depicted in it must have undergone significant changes! Even if the treasure is still at the hiding place, if we can't find the location indicated by the painting, it's all for naught!"

"Oh!"

Wu Zian carefully analyzed Duan Gujin's words and felt that what the other person said made a lot of sense.

He had his suspicions about Duan Gujin before, but since he had already turned the room inside out, he was sure that there really was no treasure in most parts of this room.

If even digging three feet into the ground didn't yield any treasure, then there was nothing he could blame.

Now the only problem lay with the landscape painting in front of them.

He had previously searched the green stone of the landscape painting thoroughly, but the result was nonproductive.

Next, he would have to unlock the secrets of that landscape painting.

If they were still unable to unravel the painting's secrets here, then they could disassemble the green stone and take it with them, then ponder on the mysteries of the painting after returning.

"First, check inside this landscape painting to see if there are any treasures hidden inside it. If you can't find anything, then the next step is to dismantle the green stone of the painting piece by piece and put it into the storage ring."

Duan Gujin said.

"Okay!"

Wu Zian and others nodded quickly in response, feeling that Duan Gujin's approach was correct.

In their hearts, Wu Zian and the others also understood that even if Duan Gujin lied to them, they had no way of extracting information from him.

After Wu Zian and the others checked inside of the landscape painting thoroughly, Duan Gujin had them draw the image of the painting on paper with pen and ink to avoid messing up the order and damaging the original painting.

"Great!"

Wu Zian and the others completely agreed with Duan Gujin's suggestion. They quickly took out paper and ink from the storage ring and spent two hours to finally replicate the landscape painting.

Wu Tianxia was skilled in painting, and his copy was still quite close to the original.

"Honestly, I can't figure out exactly where the treasure hiding place indicated by this landscape painting is. Even if we find that place, how can we find the treasure?"

Wu Tianxia asked with confusion.

Duan Gujin's eyes flashed as he said: "Maybe once we find the place, there will be hints on it."

"This is really too troublesome! Why on earth would the owner of the treasure make it so mysterious?"

Wu Tianxia lamented.

Hearing Wu Tianxia's words, Duan Gujin's brows furrowed slightly as he fell into deep thought.

"Now I am certain that if the treasure hider indeed buried the treasure here, he definitely would have left us some clues! And now, where exactly is the place indicated by this landscape painting?"

"Look, why is this person standing here in the landscape painting? Is this dark object a stele or something else?"

Wu Tianxia pointed to the painting and asked.

"These images are too vague; I can't make out what they are."

Wu Zian replied.
