Water Mage in the Flame Realm

Chapter 183: The Emergence of a Fighting Style

The scene had somehow quieted down.

Ivan had already left the seat outside the pastry shop across the street.

This was because, when Andrew broke Havier's wrist bone, a seemingly unassuming middle-aged man who seemed to just be passing by, had a change of expression, suddenly accelerated, and was about to rush over to interfere with Andrew's actions to save Havier.

But as soon as this man made the starting motion, Ivan appeared in front of him and said coldly, "Your opponent is me! Wouldn't it be better to let the young folks handle young folks' matters?"

Not only this middle-aged man, but when Andrew was dueling with Sabye, even Debbie, who climbed back up after being knocked down by Havier, wore an angry face wanting to step in.

She and Sabye were a pair, just like Fleur and Rose from the Magic Guild, and on Warm Fire Commerce Association's side, there was naturally a combo of Warm Fire Mage and Crimson Knight.

The effectiveness of this pairing was excellent, capable of producing an effect where one plus one is greater than two.

Though Debbie had sufficient confidence in Sabye's strength, believing that even Sabye alone could definitely handle Andrew.

But if the two joined forces, they could ensure a crush!

"This bastard, he got me knocked down, I'm going to show you what regret means soon!"

That was Debbie's thought as she was about to rush up.

However, just like the middle-aged man blocked by Ivan over there, Debbie, including other young people at the scene, were also stopped the moment they had the notion of "ganging up on Andrew".

"Could you please not interfere in the one-on-one between the boys?"

Barbara said indifferently.

Tier Four magic power radiated from her body, forming a presence similar to a "domain" at the scene.

She firmly relied on the tier suppression of magic power to halt all the young troublemakers, including Debbie, right in their tracks!

"Miss Third... did you really break through to Tier Four? Like my brother?!" Debbie's expression changed.

But Barbara did not reply.

She and Ivan each helped Andrew block those who wanted to interfere.

Yet even Barbara and Ivan, when they truly saw Andrew win against Sabye in just one encounter, couldn't help but feel a jolt in their hearts! Because even they, who were familiar with Andrew, didn't expect him to win this fast!

As for Debbie, who had previously completely dismissed Andrew— even after seeing Andrew win against Havier, she was merely shocked by Andrew's "messy" style, not genuinely believing Andrew was that strong— at this moment, she widened her bright eyes in shock, "Just like that... lost? Sabye lost in just one encounter?!"

If it were merely losing a head-to-head within the same Tier Three rank, that would be one thing and wouldn't be completely unacceptable.

The problem is... how could he lose so fast?!

This was the Crimson Knight's forte, close combat where mages generally do not excel!!

"You're already dead."

This sentence not only made Sabye, the person involved, have his hackles raised for a moment.

It also told those present, like Debbie and Havier: this farce was over!

"Phew."

Andrew quietly sighed.

In what might sound pretentious but was really the truth: "Even I didn't expect to determine the outcome in a flash. I was only making a normal counterattack, I had actually prepared follow-up moves as well."

To be honest, being able to determine the outcome so quickly actually included factors of "personal combat style".

In this Flame Realm, every professional has their own tactical style.

Style, many times, varies from person to person; even two cultivators of the same profession, same tier, or the same magic series might have vastly different styles in actual combat.

This involves personal character factors as well as the subtle influence of the environment.

Years later, Andrew, in reflecting on the formation of his tactical style, believed: generally speaking, the rudimentary form of his style took shape during the battle in Flaming Shield City when he was assassinated by that female assassin. The idea "even in the face of a strong enemy, do not be afraid, charging head-on is the only way to snatch a lifeline," took root in his subconscious during that battle, never to be erased.

To sum it up in the simplest terms, it's: Don't be scared, charge forward!

What Andrew didn't know was that traditional Water Mages in the history of this Flame Realm typically did not have such a style.

Traditional Water Mage styles varied greatly with some relying on defense to win, others using control abilities to mire the enemy, some focusing on Illusions and phantasms, and even those who primarily commanded various elemental creatures for a summoning-style offensive.

A strong aggressive style Water Mage isn't unheard of, but firstly, they are rare, and secondly, even in being aggressively offensive, they are of the type to manipulate water flows, creating massive floods, or summon terrifying colossal waves to "crush over" with an overwhelming presence.

This was quite different from what Andrew just did.

What did Andrew just do, then—

Firstly he, as a Magic Professional, used close combat tactics. This already set him apart from over ninety-nine percent of traditional Water Mages and the current community of Fire Mages. Furthermore, while it appeared to be close-quarters combat, incredibly clever magic techniques were actually being employed!

Facing the enemy's onslaught, he expended little effort on defense and directly counterattacked with offense.

In the instant of confrontation, the victory was determined.

Eerily reminiscent of a duel between top swordsmen, after a flash encounter, one stands and the other falls.

—This is Andrew's current tactical style.

Sabye thought Andrew first circled to his back, then used his finger to press against his temple.

This was a mistaken perception.

The sequence was wrong.

Andrew actually pinpointed the opponent's temple at the moment of advancing forward!

And whether it was infusing a tremendous amount of Water Magic into the table (yes, it wasn't any magic to make the object heavier, just a massive amount of Water Magic), or silently appearing behind Sabye, these actions were whether incidentally accomplished during the process of "aiming at the temple".

From an onlooker's perspective, what was seen was actually the clearest—

Andrew did not first reach the back, then raise his hand to aim.

But rather, his finger was already pointing, then using Sabye as an axis, he spun around, his whole figure having spun around like a "drift" to Sabye's back!

All of this was naturally done during a reflexive counterattack.

At this moment, even Andrew himself, in subduing Sabye, was left lost in thought.

Though this battle was indeed an important start in forming his personal tactical style, it was only later that Andrew truly pondered over it, began consciously honing his combat techniques, and gradually shaped and formed his own combat style.
