Over The World, Beyond Heaven

Chapter 200: Looking for a Place to Stay Over

Two days had passed…

Zheng-Fu finally arrived at the front city in the southwestern part of the continent. The trip to the city went well. He did not encounter any monsters because the route he used was the main route that had been used by villagers, caravans, and martial artists…

So, the time he spent on the route was great. He did not take any rest for the whole two days of traveling. He just reduced his speed from time to time, so he felt completely exhausted. Now he wanted to take a rest…

That was the reason why his main goal was to look for a tavern that he could stay at before taking off on his journey again. Zheng-Fu changed his clothes before entering the city. If he got into the city with worn-out clothes and a straw hat, he would be suspected. So, he took out the outfit that Xuan-Ji had made for him…

"Wow! The outfit that Xuan-Ji made is so good. It's stretchy and fits so well. I do look good in it. Besides, it was made from the skin of a high-level monster. This could withstand cuts from high-level weapons." Zheng-Fu complimented the outfit that Xuan-Ji had made for him.

She finished it in just a day because she really liked and admired Zheng-Fu…

"Stop! Why did you come to this city?" The soldier at the city gate stopped Zheng-Fu and asked him a question…

"I want to go to Blueland," Zheng-Fu answered firmly…

"If you want to go to Blueland, you must pay the fee; otherwise, you can't get through."

"A fee? Do I need to pay? I thought it was free, brother soldier." Zheng-Fu pretended not to know about the fee…

"Of course, you have to. How come you didn't know about it? If you only want to get into the city, you don't have to pay. But if you want to leave the city and enter it again, you have to pay five hundred monster crystal coins," the soldier explained the fee rule to Zheng-Fu…

"I see. Then I have to bother you, brother soldier." Zheng-Fu took out five hundred monster crystal coins and gave them to the soldier. Then the soldier gave him the city tag…

The tag was supposed to be used when Zheng-Fu wanted to exit the gate on the other side of the city to Blueland. And if he wanted to come back in, he had to pay the fee on his way in and leave the city at the gate that he first got into. The same rule was applied in every city in Birdy Holy Fiery Heaven country…

Zheng-Fu walked into the city after taking the tag from the soldier, like the others. He thought that if he was still in his old outfit, it would be hard for him to get into the city. The soldier would have stalled him at the city gate for a long while. However, since he was successfully getting in, he had to find a tavern so he could take some rest…

"Uncle! Uncle!" Zheng-Fu walked up to a middle-aged man who was staring at a big rock board that had many papers stuck on it. He wanted to ask for directions…

"What…?"

The middle-aged man turned to look at Zheng-Fu and said, "What is it, boy?"

"Do you know where the tavern is?"

"A tavern? I see… Walk up the street for about two hundred meters, and you'll see three styles of taverns there. You can choose which one you like." The middle-aged man turned back to his rock board and put his hands behind his back…

"Thank you, uncle!" Zheng-Fu cupped his fists and said thanks to the middle-aged man when he got the answer. Then he walked off in the direction that he had received from the middle-aged man…

Clomp! Clomp! Clomp!

All of a sudden, a group of soldiers ran from the opposite direction of Zheng-Fu and almost knocked him over. It made him angry, and he was prepared to turn back and yell at the group of soldiers. Then he thought he should not do so because he did not waste his time cleaning things up when they got messy…

"You're lucky that I'm in a hurry… Tsk!" Zheng-Fu glanced at the group of soldiers and turned to walk on to look for a tavern…

That group of soldiers that were rushing stopped at the big rock board and knelt in front of the middle-aged man who had his hands on his back. The middle-aged man was the man that Zheng-Fu asked for directions…

"Respecting the owner of the city! Why didn't you tell us that you wanted to come out? What if something happens to you?"

"Do I have to report to you guys if I want to go out? Besides, if something bad happens, you won't be able to help me if they're stronger. Anyway, get up! Get up! Don't do this again next time."

"Yes, sir!"

"Who was that boy? How come I've never seen him before? He looks different. Even though his energy level was not high, the vibe from him was horrifying." The middle-aged man that Zheng-Fu asked for directions from was actually the owner of the front city…

After getting the directions to the taverns, Zheng-Fu rushed to go in the direction that the middle-aged man told him to immediately. When he got to the place, he found three taverns there like what the middle-aged man told him. Each of them was set in different directions…

The first tavern that Zheng-Fu looked at was in the middle of the two taverns. It was a big one and looked grand. The people who stayed there were well-dressed. When he took a closer look, he saw only a few martial artists in there…

The other two were on the left and right corners of the street. They looked similar, but it seemed like the left one was full of people. Most of the people who stayed there were villagers or travelers. The right one seemed to be popular with martial artists. There were some people who wore the city soldier uniforms there too…

"Which one should I choose? I guess I'll have to ask around, just in case."

Zheng-Fu decided to ask the people in the area about the three taverns. He learned that the three taverns were different. The middle one was for noblemen or well-to-do people. Anyone with a lot of money could afford to stay there. The left one was for anyone and everyone at all. However, there were always people fighting in the tavern.

It practically happened every day, and no one could do anything about it, not even the city authorities. That was because the tavern did not have a rule to prevent people from fighting. But if anyone damaged things outside of the tavern, they would be punished by the city…

The tavern on the right-hand side was especially for martial artists. The place sold things that martial artists needed. The interesting thing was that the owner of the tavern was a martial artist who was a member of the Cult of Birdy Holy Fiery Heaven. The tavern was also the place where martial artists would come to apply for membership whenever the cult opened for applications…

"I see. Then I'll have to choose the left one because I'm just a passerby. It'll be less noticeable."

Squeak!

The tavern's door was slowly pushed open. Zheng-Fu walked into the tavern and found many people at the tables in the place. People chattered noisily at some tables and quietly at others. Some even banged the tables when they had conversations. However, everyone stopped when Zheng-Fu stepped in. They all looked at him at the same time…

……….?

After staring at Zheng-Fu for a while, everyone went back to their chit-chat as before. No one paid attention to him, but all of a sudden, he heard something from the table next to where he was standing…

"Hey, boy! Are you misunderstanding something? This is not a tavern for rich people. Gulp! Ah…" A middle-aged man asked Zheng-Fu and then drank his drink…

"Hahaha!"

"Yeah, boy! I don't think you're from around here, so you didn't know," another middle-aged man said while looking at Zheng-Fu as if he was a plump sheep…

Zheng-Fu knew right away the reason why the two men thought of him that way. It was because of his new outfit. It was very different from what regular villagers and travelers would wear. However, he did not pay attention to the two men and walked to the counter immediately…

"What…?"

As soon as the owner of the tavern saw Zheng-Fu, he looked at him with curiosity and said, "Did you come to the wrong tavern?"

"I want a room. Do you have an available room for me?" Zheng-Fu did not wait for the owner of the tavern to finish the sentence. He just wanted a room because he was very tired…

"Oh…! Yeah, of course. What kind of room do you want?" The owner of the tavern stopped his curiosity instantly when he saw that the boy in front of him intended to stay at his tavern. So, he asked what kind of room Zheng-Fu wanted…

"What kind of room do you have?" Zheng-Fu asked back because he did not understand the question. Then he started to imagine that in the Xianxia world, there might be rooms that came with a boxing ring or a pond in the middle of them…

"Well… I guess you must not be from around here. I'll tell you that there are three types of rooms in my tavern. The first one is a shared room. The second is a private room. The last one is a private room with full amenities.

I can tell you that my best room is not any less luxurious than the luxurious one in that rich tavern," the owner of the tavern talked about the tavern that was in the middle with an unsatisfying facial expression…

"What about the room rates?" Zheng-Fu did not pay attention to the gesture of the owner of the tavern because he understood what a businessman was like. So, he rushed to ask about the room rate instantly…

"Um… It's fifty monster crystal coins for the shared room, a thousand for the private room, and five thousand for the super-private room. So, what kind of room do you want? I only have the shared rooms and super-private rooms left, though," the owner of the tavern said with a smile while looking at Zheng-Fu…

*The gaps in the rates are so huge, from fifty to one thousand and from one thousand to five thousand monster crystal coins. But I guess the prices are reasonable. The shared room is much cheaper because people have to look out for their safety all the time. I don't think some can even get to sleep at all.

But it's going to be strange if I choose the super-private room.* Zheng-Fu stood still while trying to choose the room he thought was good for him…

"I'll take the shared room!" Zheng-Fu put down fifty monster crystal coins after he chose the room type instantly…

The owner of the tavern was surprised that Zheng-Fu chose the shared room type instead of going to other taverns. But since it was a business, he grabbed the money on the counter and handed Zheng-Fu his bed tag. Then he said…

"Here's your bed tag. You can only sleep on the bed with the bed tag that you get. You don't want to sleep on other people's beds. The room is on the second floor, on the right. The bathroom is behind the tavern. You're free to use it anytime."

Grab!

"Thank you very much. Can I have some meat and drink?" Zheng-Fu walked over to sit at the table as soon as he finished the sentence…
