School Beauty's Peerless Soldier

Chapter 1164: Despicable Gentleman

"Is this the true power of a Zhiwei Realm warrior?"

Xu Fan was panting heavily, his entire body drenched in sweat.

Just as those dazzling white arrows were about to pierce through him, Xu Fan felt every hair on his body stand on end, and he even sensed the power of the Seven Treasures Relic!

It was the genuine sensation of impending death, terrifying yet thrilling.

But more than fear, Xu Fan felt excitement.

It's not because he witnessed the strength of a Zhiwei Realm warrior and felt that dying was worthwhile, like Confucius who said he was ready to die after hearing the Way in the morning. Xu Fan is not Confucius.

Xu Fan felt excitement because of the fighting spirit coursing through his veins. Even if he were to die, he would fight with all his might!

By now, Xu Fan had regained some of his strength after catching his breath. He raised his head and looked at Arthur with eyes still burning with an intense battle fire.

Arthur couldn't help but show a trace of appreciation on his face.

Arthur had fought Xu Fan with his fists and even used the power of his Domain to crush him—giving Xu Fan a lesson so profound that recalling it would evoke fear, hoping Xu Fan would stay away from Avril.

But clearly, Arthur failed.

No matter the clash of iron fists before or the crushing force of the Domain later, regardless of how far Xu Fan was blown away or how disheveled he was, even after trapping him and letting him experience the terror of death.

Xu Fan never submitted!

His gaze was filled with excitement. And that excitement never diminished!

Even Arthur, who has seen much, couldn't help but admire Xu Fan.

"Eastern lad! You are too weak!"

Appreciation is one thing, but Arthur hadn't forgotten his goal: to bring Avril back and eliminate anything that might harm her in the cradle.

In Arthur's eyes, no matter how strong Xu Fan was, his future achievements were undoubtedly minuscule compared to Avril!

Many astounding individuals eventually fell not by the hands of enemies but on the path of time...

Arthur indeed appreciated Xu Fan, but it was only admiration. When striking blows against Xu Fan, he didn't hold back!

Facing Arthur's mockery, Xu Fan grinned without a word.

Yet, his demeanor infuriated Arthur even more than an outright scolding would have.

"Eastern lad! If I hadn't deliberately spared you earlier, you'd be dead!"

"What is this attitude now, mocking my mercy with your ignorance?"

When a gentleman is angered, he is equally terrifying, like Arthur now—an enraged lion.

Xu Fan shook his head at Arthur, "Though I don't know your name, your actions make it clear you're a gentleman! If I offended you earlier, please forgive me."

Xu Fan's words were courteous, as though he had suddenly transformed into someone else.

His words brought a slight smile to Arthur's lips; though this Eastern lad wasn't particularly likable, at least he could discern Arthur's gentlemanly nature!

However, Xu Fan's next words nearly made Arthur spit blood in fury.

"But, I cannot agree with you."

Arthur took a deep breath, maintaining his gentlemanly demeanor, and asked Xu Fan, "Oh? Where do you disagree?"

Xu Fan grinned, "I disagree with everything!"

His voice was straightforward and decisive.

Arthur almost jumped up to fight Xu Fan! Yet, as a gentleman, unlike those simple-minded thugs, he wouldn't solve problems merely with fists. Even discontented with Xu Fan's words, Arthur refrained from doing anything ungentlemanly.

Arthur glared at Xu Fan, gritting his teeth as he spoke, "Go ahead and explain your stance."

Though I disagree with every word you say, I will defend your right to say it with my life.

Arthur was deeply moved by his gentlemanly spirit, already resolved that if Xu Fan said anything displeasing, he'd use a gentleman's iron fist to beat him thoroughly.

Xu Fan leisurely raised one finger, "First, you said I am weak, which I find hard to accept."

"If I haven't guessed wrong, you should be at least over forty, yes? Could you defeat me at my age? Among those under twenty, even if I'm not the best, I shouldn't be too bad, right?"

"To call such strength weak seems unfair."

Arthur furrowed his brow thoughtfully, realizing there was some truth in Xu Fan's words. Even though he wanted to punch Xu Fan for implying he was over forty, he had no reason to do so, which wouldn't be gentlemanly.

"Hmm...perhaps I overlooked this..."

Arthur spoke each word deliberately, already determined that since Xu Fan was under his control, any slight problem from Xu Fan would be grounds for a beating.

No rush.

Xu Fan remained composed, extending a second finger, "Second, you said if you hadn't deliberately spared me earlier, I'd be dead."

"Indeed, you could easily kill me, but what then? If I'm not mistaken, you belong to the Forces of Light, right? How do you intend to answer to Avril after killing me?"

Arthur lowered his head, realizing there was indeed a dilemma...

Xu Fan didn't give Arthur too much time to ponder, as he soon extended a third finger, "Third, you said my attitude was problematic, that I mocked your mercy with ignorance."

"I bear you no grudge, yet you attacked me and dragged me here, forcing me into a deadly situation! You then want me to thank you for sparing me..."

"I personally find your actions quite despicable..."

Arthur clenched his fist tightly, veins bulging, and decided that whatever Xu Fan said next, regardless of merit, he'd punch this obnoxious Eastern lad flying!

Xu Fan grinned at Arthur, "Don't mind those words; it was just a little joke between us. Are you interested in a wager with me?"
