Zombie Bodyguard

Chapter 1282: Handling with Ease

"What does Elder Langde need me to do?" Lin Tian asked calmly.

"For now, you don't need to do anything, just watch," Langde said without turning his head.

After speaking, he took a glass bottle from the distillation apparatus, then took a few drops of red liquid from another test tube and added it to the distilled liquid.

The originally light red liquid turned dark red after adding the red droplets, looking like dead man's blood, somewhat disgusting.

Langde picked up the mixed potion, pried open the vampire's mouth on the operating table, and poured it all in. A few seconds later, the vampire suddenly widened his eyes, his pupils slowly disappeared, turning completely white, and then his body started to tremble.

The trembling became more intense, making the operating table creak. Black veins appeared on the vampire's forehead, then spread to his entire body, creating a terrifying sight.

With a "bang," the vampire suddenly struggled violently, breaking the metal clasps holding his limbs. Langde merely watched the vampire's painful struggle with cold eyes, indifferent. Lin Tian and Rossi didn't move either, knowing that even if something went wrong, it would be the vampire who died.

After the vampire broke free, he fell to the ground and rolled around. This continued for more than ten minutes before the vampire suddenly became quiet, the black veins receding, and his pupils returned to normal.

He got up from the ground, looking at his hands in confusion. Langde, with a hint of surprise in his eyes, asked, "How do you feel?"

"I feel much stronger, except for the initial pain; there's no discomfort now..." the vampire said in amazement.

Just as he finished speaking, with a loud "boom," the vampire's entire body exploded, scattering pieces across the lab. The exploded blood mist stained half of the laboratory red.

Lin Tian had already pulled Rossi to dodge behind a pillar in advance, while Langde remained standing, letting the blood mist spray all over him.

Several servants entered the lab from outside, promptly cleaning up. A few minutes later, all traces of blood and debris were cleared. An old man also appeared in the lab, holding a set of suits. Lin Tian recognized him as the one he met in the cemetery.

Langde took off his blood-stained suit, threw it into the fireplace to burn it, then washed the blood from his face and hands in the sink and changed into a new suit.

Throughout the process, Langde remained indifferent, as if such bloody scenes were commonplace.

"The body was too weak, the will too poor. What a pity about Clark; he would have been an excellent choice for both body and will, but he was killed." Langde sighed slightly.

Lin Tian naturally understood that Clark's strong desire for revenge made his willpower formidable.

After some self-dialogue, Langde turned to Lin Tian and Rossi, saying, "You've watched the experiment. Do you have anything to say?"

This question seemed like an inquiry, but Lin Tian could hear the subtext: If you have nothing to say, you have no value here.

"Elder Langde, from what I've observed, Clark's strong willpower stemmed from his obsession with hatred. It's not easy to find a Blood Clan member like him. Why not lower your requirements so that ordinary Blood Clan members can also endure the potion's side effects?" Lin Tian feigned seriousness as he spoke.

"Wanderer, our elder holds such a high position, how could he casually lower the standards?" The old butler glanced at Lin Tian, speaking with a tone full of pride.

Vampires have always considered themselves noble, so it's normal for them to hold such thoughts.

Yet Langde said, "Butler, let him finish."

Lin Tian was somewhat surprised by the butler's status because he could interject without reprimand from Langde. Perhaps they had known each other for hundreds of years; generally, Blood Clan members wouldn't dare speak so freely before an elder.

Lin Tian continued, "Elder Langde may be aiming at maximizing the Blood Clan's strength, but this wish might be difficult to achieve in the short term. Why not lower the requirements; if doubling their strength doesn't work, we can enhance it by only half instead?"

"Even if the Sinmore Clan's strength only increases by thirty percent, it would still be a significant advantage over other clans. In my opinion, an additional thirty percent chance to defeat enemies is already sufficient." Lin Tian said calmly.

Elder Langde looked at Lin Tian with surprise, then with interest, rarely showing a smile, "Wanderer, it seems you have quite the insight, although you might not know that if the potion doesn't reach a certain concentration, its efficacy will fade quickly, making it impractical."

Concentration not enough, leading to efficacy decline? Lin Tian thought to himself; he hadn't encountered such a situation before. Yet he scanned the experimental equipment on the table, already having an idea in mind.

To be honest, these apparatuses were very advanced, comparable to a research institute. Considering the Sinmore Clan's financial power, they could acquire any technology equipment they wanted.

However, alchemy isn't just about having advanced equipment to produce remarkable results. The same applies to Huaxia's pharmacists; it isn't about having modern devices to succeed in concocting fine elixirs. Lin Tian could concoct elixirs using ancient methods without any modern equipment.

Ultimately, it relies on personal skill and experience. In this regard, the professions of Alchemist and Pharmacist are interconnected. Good equipment can indeed increase the success rate of concoctions, but excellent technique is also needed to complement each other. Lin Tian speculated that Elder Langde's skill might not be that proficient.

With this thought, Lin Tian already had a response: "Elder Langde, if the potion's concentration isn't enough, leading to rapid efficacy decline, the major problem might lie in raw material extraction and refinement."

"Continue," Elder Langde's eyes lit up.

"Purity," Lin Tian said two words, and before Langde could ask anything, he continued, "If the purity of raw material extraction isn't sufficient and too many impurities are mixed in, the situation you mentioned would occur."

Langde himself was an alchemist; although his skill wasn't high, it didn't mean he couldn't understand. Upon hearing this, he understood and said, "I have realized this problem, but in raw material extraction, I have tried to improve the purity as much as possible."

This phrase could be rephrased as, "My skills aren't enough to extract higher purity," but of course, as an esteemed Blood Clan Elder, he wouldn't admit such in front of a wanderer Blood Clan member.

"Wanderer, you seem to have some insight into alchemy?" Langde looked at Lin Tian with curiosity, asking in a calm voice.

Lin Tian responded calmly, "Elder, I come from Huaxia, and because I am not a Westerner, no Blood Clan accepted me, forcing me into the life of a wanderer. However, I have extensively researched Huaxia's ancient alchemy. There are similarities between Huaxia's alchemy and European alchemy in certain aspects."
