When Xiao Manxue fell, Lin Tian reached out to support her, but he lost his balance and fell together with Miss.
"Miss, don't make a sound." Lin Tian held Miss, half-leaning against the chair, and whispered.
"Are you... okay?" Xiao Manxue was somewhat surprised.
Of course Lin Tian was fine; he was just pretending to slump, and it was so realistic that he thought he could win an Oscar for Best Actor. He held Miss with one arm and quietly extended the other, pressing it against her back.
Pressing gently against a few acupoints on her back, Lin Tian's hand massaged, making Xiao Manxue's face slightly blush as she felt his hand moving there.
With Lin Tian's actions, she felt her strength gradually returning, and the True Qi within her began to circulate again.
"I've already helped you neutralize the poison from the incense, but don't move yet; let's see what Clark wants to do. This incense is not lethal, so these people's lives aren't in immediate danger." Lin Tian spoke in a voice audible only to the two of them.
"Clark, what are you doing? Why did you poison us?" Jin Lisi struggled several times, unable to get up, and angrily questioned.
The other people on the ground weren't unconscious either, but none of them could move. Some were scared, and some were angry, feeling that attending a wedding shouldn't involve such tests. Yes, many still thought this was the test Clark mentioned.
Clark stood on the platform, raised his hands, and looked up at the sky for a long while before saying, "This day, I have waited too long for it."
"What do you mean?" Jin Lisi frowned and asked.
Clark didn't answer his question but instead looked down at the newlyweds and couples below, his smile replaced by a cold expression.
He said coldly, "Now, each of your lives is in my hands. Whomever I want to die, they will die!"
"What is going on? Why is this happening?" The couples started panicking, with the girls crying in fear.
Clark's gaze turned to Lin Tian's group of three, saying calmly, "Don't worry, I won't kill the three of you because I need someone to record everything that happens today. I need you to be witnesses. Aren't you here to gather material for a special magazine edition? Today, I will make sure you're satisfied."
"Clark, what is the purpose of creating such a major scene?" Lin Tian calmly asked.
Lin Tian's calm demeanor somewhat surprised Clark. Clark frowned slightly but didn't think much of it, instead saying, "I just want to give a proper ending to a story from sixty years ago."
"You mentioned earlier that the Holy Daughter's prayer failed. What happened next?" Xiao Manxue asked with a frown.
Before Clark could answer, the butler walked onto the platform and said from behind him, "Master, the people outside have discovered the situation here, and they're about to break in."
"Let them in, let everyone in," Clark ordered.
The middle-aged butler nodded, suddenly making a strange call that traveled far. The people guarding the castle opened its gates.
The residents outside flooded into the castle like a tide. Soon, everyone appeared on the hillside.
"Don't come over here, there's poison mist on this side!" Someone shouted with all their might, and others snapped back to their senses and also shouted, all warning the approaching residents, who were either their relatives or friends and neighbors.
Clark didn't stop them but instead smiled faintly, saying "Don't worry, the poison mist's effect is very short-lived. With the sunlight, it has now dissipated, so they won't be poisoned like you."
The excited residents didn't catch this and quickly ran to the top of the hill, surrounding the wedding scene. As the number of people increased, it became almost impenetrable.
Clark stood calmly on the platform the entire time, seemingly waiting for everyone to arrive.
"Senior, Lin Tian, how are you?" Zhu Li squeezed through the crowd, running to Xiao Manxue with concern.
"I'm fine, it's just that I'm weak all over and can't move," Lin Tian deliberately said and then casually blinked a few times.
Zhu Li noticed Lin Tian's blinking, paused for a moment, then seemed to understand and stopped talking.
"Clark, you owe everyone an explanation, an account!" Another person emerged from the crowd, questioning coldly.
"Ah, it's Mayor Dude. I didn't expect such a big guy to move so quickly," Clark said with a trace of mockery.
The person representing the residents was a potbellied middle-aged man who indeed didn't appear capable of running.
Mayor Dude said in a muffled voice, "Clark, we respect your noble ancestral heritage, which is why you were presiding over the wedding ceremony. But for you to do such a thing, tell me, why this is?"
Clark scoffed, somewhat self-deprecatingly, "It's truly pathetic; sixty years have passed, and no one recognizes me. Oh, I almost forgot, perhaps with this, you might remember who I am."
Clark reached behind his ear, fumbled for a moment, then tore off his face. To be precise, it was a human skin mask, but even as a mask, it was terrifying enough. Many women screamed in fear, and the men gasped.
With the mask removed, there was still a young man underneath, around twenty, extremely handsome—a typical European look, with deep, slightly melancholic eyes matching his noble demeanor.
"Lin Tian, I understand now. Clark is that young man from the story!" Xiao Manxue exclaimed.
Beside her, Jin Lisi's eyes widened in disbelief, "How is that possible? It's been sixty years..."
But before he could finish, he stopped, as a thought crossed his mind. Clark was a vampire; only a vampire could remain ageless and immortal.
With this realization, a shiver ran through him, for he himself had come to hunt vampires, but now, he was in the hands of a vampire.
This was no longer about saving face; the issue now was that any moment could be his last.
"Ah..." A shriek suddenly came from the crowd, and a person staggered out.
The person who came out was Granny Mary from the Fengye Inn, who walked to the front of the crowd and said, in a choked voice, "It's you, it's you, you've returned. You've come back for revenge... Oh, the sin!"
With Granny Mary's appearance, cries of shock arose again in the crowd. They were all elderly women and men, looking at Clark on the platform with only one expression: fear!
"Mom, who is he? What do you mean?" A middle-aged person questioned Granny Mary.
"I can't say, I can't say, I dare not..." Granny Mary shook her head persistently, which only caused further confusion among the residents.
