The Last Monarch : Unlimited Regeneration

Chapter 97: Don’t Go!

Everything was already over, Alvaric had fully recovered. They had already left the dungeon. Now they were about to part ways because Alvaric would be going with Marie and Lyrith to the city of Chillg.

Just as they were about to separate, Ramiel walked toward Alvaric. Suddenly, he bowed deeply, showing his respect.

"Thank you for sparing me," he said with a voice full of respect.

Ramiel had already prepared himself to be killed by Alvaric since he had lost. However, when Alvaric woke up and Ramiel asked, Alvaric showed no interest in doing such a thing. Especially after Velka had explained what Ramiel did while he was unconscious.

"We're even this time. But if we meet as enemies again, I won't hesitate to kill you," said Alvaric.

Ramiel smiled. "I'll be waiting for that."

Alvaric turned his back and walked away. He waved his hand casually as he left.

Meanwhile, Ramiel stared at Alvaric's back as it grew more and more distant. When Alvaric finally disappeared from sight, Ramiel turned around to face Serya and Velka.

"I'll train you. Especially you," said Ramiel while looking straight at Velka.

Velka nodded. She had already heard these words earlier, but even though she had, she still felt excited.

"Thank you," Velka replied.

"Is this really alright? Don't you know that we are considered traitors to the kingdom? If the king or other high generals find out, you'll be punished severely," said Serya.

Ramiel simply smiled. "That's my business with them. You don't need to concern yourselves with it."

In a place far, far away. The Angel bowed low, his gaze fixed downward. He did not dare raise his eyes at all. The figure standing before him was far too exalted, far too sacred for him to look at directly.

"That demon woman has escaped her seal?" asked the majestic figure.

The Angel nodded. "Yes. I felt it clearly. It turns out the massive explosion of magical energy from a few months ago was caused by that demon woman." The Angel clenched his fists tightly, hatred surging within him. "What should I do?"

"Cleanse your heart! Do not show anger or hatred. It will only harm you. When you have calmed yourself, I will assign you a new mission. But for now, we continue with our original plan," the exalted figure replied.

The Angel nodded. "Very well. I will carry it out."

He stood and began walking away. His next destination was the church in the previous world once again, to provide more reinforcements for the assault on Earth.

But he also had to investigate something that felt strange. His instincts told him that something very bad was about to happen, though he could not yet tell what it was.

"I must be cautious."

Alvaric, Lyrith, and Marie walked through the city of Sky Lord. They wore cloaks and face coverings so as not to be recognized, since there was a chance the royal court would send troops after them—or other dangers might arise.

Being cautious was the wisest choice, yet that wasn't what made Alvaric frown. He had never been to the city of Sky Lord before, but there was something strange about it.

"Why are there so many faces here that look like criminals and…" He looked around again, furrowing his brow. "It feels too diverse here. Not like the other cities."

Not only that, the residents of Sky Lord who had the appearance of winged beings looked subdued, as if living in constant fear—especially whenever they crossed paths with armed soldiers.

It looked as if they were being suppressed by the presence of demi-human races that were not their own. From the city's name, it should have been a place belonging to bird-type demi-humans. They were supposed to be the rulers here. They were supposed to hold power, not bow in fear before others, since they were the majority.

Yet the reality was far different. Something was definitely wrong with the city of Sky Lord. But since it was none of his business, Alvaric ignored it.

"Whatever happens in the city of Sky Lord… it has nothing to do with me," he thought.

He, Lyrith, and Marie continued walking. They would stay one night in this city before continuing to Chillg the next day.

Just one night, nothing more.

That night, Alvaric sat by the window. He was alone in his room because Marie and Lyrith were staying in another.

He gazed outside. Lights glimmered across the city of Sky Lord. The night sky was filled with stars, and the moon shone brilliantly. The atmosphere that night was brighter than the nights before.

Alvaric took in the scenery. He closed his eyes for two seconds before opening them again.

But before he could fully open his eyes, a thunderous noise suddenly rang out.

BOOM!

A powerful explosion echoed from the east. Instantly, Alvaric drew his dagger. He was ready for battle, though it was clear the explosion was still some distance away from his location.

Looking eastward, he saw smoke rising in that direction.

"A battle?"

Alvaric leaped and climbed onto the inn's rooftop. From afar, he saw a figure standing upon a wall. That figure raised a hand, and in the next instant, a spell was unleashed.

The spell shot straight toward the largest mansion in the city of Sky Lord.

Watching this, Alvaric frowned deeply. "Someone is attacking Sky Lord? Who would dare do that?"

He was about to leap toward the battlefield, but just as he was about to move, someone grabbed his hand. Turning his head, he saw that it was Lyrith.

"Don't!" she warned firmly.

"Why? I just want to take a look," Alvaric replied casually.

He truly had no intention of fighting. He only wanted to see what was happening there. He was curious who had the courage to attack the ruler of Sky Lord.

Maybe that person could even become an ally, since they might share the same goals.

"The aura over there feels very similar to that old goat's before," Lyrith answered.

"You mean Ramiel?"

Lyrith nodded.

Alvaric's curiosity grew even stronger. He wanted to know why a high general from the capital would be attacking the ruler of Sky Lord. It was too strange.

But Lyrith shook her head firmly, clearly unwilling to let him go.

Alvaric sighed heavily and nodded. "Alright. I'll return to my room," he said.

He went back down into the room, climbed onto the bed, and pulled the blanket over himself. He wanted to fool Lyrith into thinking he was resting. But what happened next ruined his plan.

Lyrith climbed onto the bed as well, lying right beside Alvaric, and even wrapped her arms tightly around him.

"Don't go! Please!" she pleaded.

Alvaric fell silent. This time, he truly nodded. "Alright," he answered softly.
