Lydia
A tense silence filled the room as my brother met our gazes, his words hanging in the air. I almost couldn't believe my ears, and even Koyuki could sense the atmosphere as she whined quietly, sitting at Audrey's feet. My kind eldest brother would never suggest something so horrible… Would he? Maybe that was true for the Luke I had grown up with, but so much had happened when I wasn't looking, and the serious look in his eyes only made my thoughts messier. As I struggled for a response, Audrey beat me to it.
"What are you planning?" Her voice was calm, and her smile from moments before had vanished.
"Yamada already betrayed us once." Luke began. "They were so confident in their own defense that they abandoned the rest of the continent to the empire. If they had made good on their promise, then maybe—!" His jaw clenched, and he stopped to take a calming breath, but I knew what he was thinking.
"If they had stayed to fight, maybe Mother and Father would still be alive…" I finished quietly for him. It was something I was sure haunted all three of us, even if we didn't show it.
"Not only that, but our kingdom… Our people could've been saved." He said, his fists trembling on the desk despite his determined expression.
"So you would sacrifice their people for revenge?" Audrey asked coldly, and my brother's eyes snapped to her as he shook his head.
"Of course not! I do not wish for any more death!" He replied. "But the Yamadian leadership is stuck in their ways! Even if the two of you go with diplomacy, there is a strong possibility they will refuse, regardless! And that's only if they allow you into the country to begin with!" His words grew louder and heated the longer he spoke until he was heaving for breath. It took another minute before he collected himself. "But all that is irrelevant now; we simply don't have time to play nice anymore. If we are to guarantee their aid, they need to feel the same threat the rest of us have lived with. They didn't in the past, but if these new 'battleships' of the Duke's can penetrate their outward defenses even a little, then maybe…" My heart pounded with pain and understanding at the choice my brother was making, but I still couldn't bring myself to agree.
"Brother, you agreed to send me and Audrey to convince them!" I pleaded.
"How will you do that in three days?" He asked pointedly, and I faltered. "The Duke has put us on a timetable, and if his attack succeeds and Yamada falls… There will be no hope for us. We may survive like rats for now, but the Emperor will eventually fall upon us as well."
"If we stop the attack and show them proof and goodwill, then they'll listen!" Audrey chimed in.
"And if they don't?" He responded. "What happens if they just turn a blind eye like they've already done? We'll have played all our cards and revealed ourselves to the Empire." I bit my lip in frustration at my inability to refute him, and my girlfriend was much the same. "I understand you two may not like it, and neither do I, but I have to make the choice that gives the people who trust me a fighting chance."
Another silence stretched between us as Audrey and I just stood at a loss for words. In my head, I understood his logic, but my heart just couldn't accept it. I'm so tired of all of it. Without saying anything, I bent and scooped the wolf pup into my arms, then took Audrey's hand to lead her out of the room. My brother said nothing as we left, watching us with silently pained eyes until we were out of sight.
"Lydia?" Audrey asked worriedly, and I glanced over the shoulder that wasn't blocked by fur.
"I'm fine. I just need some time to think. I'll come up with something." I said, but my voice lacked the usual confidence. It wasn't until we entered the room we had been assigned that I finally let the two of them go and sat on the bed with a heavy sigh.
"Why are you so upset about this, Dia?" My goddess suddenly asked as Audrey sat beside me quietly. "The Yamadians are at least partly to blame for what happened." The way she said it so casually shook me and filled me with a complicated mix of emotions. But as I contemplated her words, I realized something.
"No, it wasn't the Yamadians… It was one. Their people shouldn't suffer due to the actions of their leaders, same as ours…" I said mournfully, and my words were met with a long silence
"Then do something about it." The simple statement rang through my head and to my heart, but my frayed thoughts still couldn't coalesce into a plan.
"But my brother has already decided, and won't be convinced." Even I realized how childish it was, but I've always respected my brothers and followed their lead, even if I never admitted it to their faces.
"Dia." Azure's voice was strong and confident. "You are my divine guardian! My sister's divine guardian sits beside you! The two of you command power that most humans only read about in myth." As she spoke, my doubts began to melt away. "You may not be able to stop him, but you don't need to. The two of you are not beholden to the machinations of normal mortals."
When I looked over at Audrey, her expression was also set with confidence, her eyes cracked silver as her goddess spoke to her as well. I closed my eyes, then smiled at my foolish behavior.
"You're right, there's always something we can do!" I said aloud so both Azure and Audrey could hear me. My girlfriend started a bit at my outburst, and my goddess laughed lightly in my mind, but I didn't mind.
"Of course! Let's do this!" Audrey said, pumping her fists in the air once she recovered.
We only had a few days before the Duke launched his attack, and after discussing it, Audrey and I holed up in our room. My brother and Isaac would come to check on us, and we had our meals delivered. Outside of staying updated on the operation plans, we didn't interact with anyone but each other as we prepared for our own scheme.
***
Three days later, my girlfriend and I stood on the edge of the rocky cliffs just outside Halvern, just close enough to watch for the battleship's exit from the cave. My brother had sent experts to investigate the enemy's ship, but they must've been spooked from the night we were there, and it was impossible for anyone to get in, even at night now. As a result, much remained unknown about how the ship operated. Still, Luke ordered everyone to stand down. The resistance would follow a safe distance behind and observe the clash with Yamada's blockade, and once the battle was over, would move in and aid any survivors.
However, Audrey and I wouldn't wait so long. We staked out on the cliffs until just before noon, when we finally saw the metal ship glide out into the ocean. The vessel was submerged further than we saw it in the cave, and only a few metal plates were visible above the ocean waves.
"Do you think it can go even more underwater?" Audrey asked curiously as we watched the vessel move further away from the coast.
"I doubt it," Leah said from behind us. When we returned to the port city this morning, the woman had practically cornered Audrey and me until we explained our plan, and she refused to leave our side. "I imagine they need some contact with the air to circulate it through the rest of the ship. The wind artifacts we saw are most likely for that purpose, if nothing else."
"Still, being that low in the water will make it hard for any normal ship to hit them with cannons, and if they planned on the top being exposed, I have no doubt it's heavily reinforced against magic as well," I added, and Audrey nodded in agreement.
A few minutes later, I decided it was time to move and turned to face my girlfriend with a smile. My fingers interlocked with Audrey's as we pressed our foreheads together, each of us focusing on our stella.
"Here I go," I whispered, then began to manifest a golden barrier over my skin. It started over my chest, then slowly crawled outward until my head and limbs were covered entirely. After taking a moment to ensure its stability on myself, I prodded Audrey's stella where our fingers connected and felt her silver power mingle with my gold. Before I began to form the barrier over her as well, A better idea came to mind. I let go of her left hand, then swiftly snaked it to the back of her head and pulled her into a kiss. A cute squeak of surprise escaped from my girlfriend, and I basked in my successful prank. Leah tactfully looked away as Audrey and I chased after the others' taste. It's sweet as usual... I thought before pulling myself together. It wasn't just because we had been cooped up in a room with the other girls, and hardly had any alone time the last week, that I did this. There was a practical, secondary reason as well.
A silver barrier soon spread over Audrey's body even faster than we had managed during the last three days of rigorous practice, and I smirked at her shocked expression as I finally pulled away from the long embrace.
"Seems my hypothesis was correct," I said, and she hit my shoulder playfully.
"That was mean!" She pouted, causing me to laugh.
"My ladies, the ship is getting away." Leah pointed out dryly, and Audrey and I both turned our heads to find it slowly closing on the horizon. Hurriedly, I finished our preparations by turning myself invisible. I had practiced non-stop, even forgoing sleep, to ensure I could maintain it for both myself and Audrey. Unfortunately, I could only keep Audrey invisible as long as we maintained physical contact, and it would only work with her specifically for now. I watched as the red hair I loved so much slowly vanished until I could see nothing of my girlfriend. The only confirmation I had that she was still there was the warmth of our intertwined fingers still connected and the sense of our mingling stella.
"Alright, let's go—!" I began, but my words cut off with a squeak of my own as I sensed Audrey suddenly move, and I found my legs taken from beneath me. Instinctively, my arms wrapped around where I knew her neck would be, even if I couldn't see her, as I found myself held in a princess carry. "H-Hey!" I protested, but it was ignored as I heard my girlfriend's voice right above my head.
"We'll be going now, Leah! Remember to stay out of range for now." She said to the attendant, who gave a curt affirmative before a whirlwind launched her into the sky. For our part, I felt Audrey turn toward the cliff… And jump off.
It was a bizarre sensation, and my stomach lurched as we fell toward the foaming water that clashed along the coastline. Typically, I wouldn't be affected by something like this, but because I couldn't see Audrey or myself, my brain couldn't make sense of the intense movement.
I made an embarrassing noise from within her arms as my breakfast threatened to escape my stomach. Even a few seconds after we had landed atop the foaming waves, I was still feeling extremely motion sick. I didn't account for this…! Right as my body was about to give in to the nausea, I recovered my senses enough to activate my holy magic, and the sensation faded.
"T-That was close…" I said unconsciously.
"I agree," Audrey said in response, a hint of sickness coloring her voice as well. "I didn't think it would be so different, but I feel incredibly off balance." Even as we spoke, Audrey began sprinting inhumanly fast across the ocean's surface, using her water magic to harden the water beneath each step and propel us forward. I glanced at the sky in search of Leah and found her as a shadow darting between the white clouds as she followed behind us.
It took much longer than we anticipated to catch up to the submerged metal ship, and we soon understood why once we did. The vessel was moving at a speed that would leave even the fastest sailing ships of our time in its wake. I assumed it must take some time to ramp up to that speed, since it hadn't left the coast nearly that quickly.
"Can you keep up with it?" I asked Audrey, a bit worried about the strain on her body.
"Of course I can! Besides, now that we're here…" Between her magic and her physical prowess, she managed to jump lightly onto an exposed section of the enemy ship, and I felt the familiar sensation of entering the shadows.

Audrey
"Whew! Now we can take it easy until they meet the blockade!" I said once we were in the safe and familiar void of my shadows. I peered through the shadows inside the ship until I found the command room from before, then kept the window open so Lydia could watch as well. Suddenly, I sensed the invisibility drop and looked down to see glaring emerald eyes boring into me.
"Why didn't we do this from the beginning?" Lydia asked me with a look that screamed danger. I laughed sheepishly and averted my eyes.
"You were working so hard to master the invisibility spell… I didn't want to rain on your parade." I said honestly.
"You could've said something back at the cliff!" She scoffed.
Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
"You're the one who sealed my mouth shut!" I defended fervently. "I meant to bring it up, but then you kissed me and I was only thinking of how much I love you…" My girlfriend slapped my shoulder playfully as her cheeks flushed crimson.
"We're on a serious operation, stop saying such embarrassing things!" She exclaimed before clearing her throat bashfully. "Why did we run across the ocean, then?"
"I wanted to try it!" I said excitedly. "It was quite fun with all the waves!" She slapped at my shoulder again, and I corrected myself. "I've never used the shadows to cross large bodies of water before… I wasn't sure if the shadows would be connected to the ones on the ship since the ocean floor is so deep."
"Did you ask Aurora?" At her pointed question, I looked away again, and she let out a sigh.
"You should've asked my guardian." My goddess joined in my mind, sounding like an exasperated parent. "I sensed your worry, but I thought you were just nervous about the operation. Even I can't know some things if you don't tell me."
"I'm sorry…" I felt like a scolded child, and slumped my shoulders.
"Still, to answer your question, all shadows are connected, but moving through water is very different from moving through solid objects. It was wise not to try it in such a pressing moment. You no doubt would have figured it out, but would most likely have gotten lost for a while before that." Her words made me feel much better until she crushed me again. "It would've been best for you to enter the ship's shadows before it left the mainland, instead of running across the ocean as you did."
"That's not only my fault!" I said childishly.
"I suppose not." My goddess said. Her giggling chimed sweetly, and I pouted in defiance. Once the conversation ended with Aurora, Lydia pulled at my cheek with a frown.
"So… Are you going to let me down?" I still held her in my arms, but had no intention of letting her go. Besides, in the space between shadows, there wasn't really a "down."
"Why should I? I'm paying you back for surprising me earlier." I said sweetly as we floated aimlessly, the shadow window showing the ship's command room following an arm's length away. "The Yamadian blockade is normally two days, right? We don't really need to do anything until the fighting starts, so why can't I hold you?" I knew she hated being carried like this, but I couldn't help but tease her. It's just so fun to poke at her princessly pride…
"At this speed, they'll arrive much sooner than that." Lydia countered. "We should stay vigilant just in case."
"What about this isn't vigilant?" I asked, motioning with my head at the clear view we had of the ship's interior. "Even if they do get there much faster than we planned, we still have more than a day of downtime—" I was interrupted by a sudden flurry of movement. Lydia had kicked her legs, causing me to lose my grip on her. Gracefully, and without giving me time to react, her thighs were soon pressed to either side of my waist, her ankles locking at the small of my back. The motion sent us spinning in the void, our hair flowing weightlessly behind us, forming a fan of red and gold as she pressed our bodies together.
"If you want to hold me, then do it. But I will not stand for your teasing, Audrey Rose." Her hands were teasing lightly over my breastplate. Even if I couldn't feel her touch, it still sent a shiver down my spine. My beautiful girlfriend leaned in, her lips hovering an inch from mine. "You're right about one thing… We do have quite a bit of waiting to do, however will we keep ourselves entertained?"
I answered her question by vanishing the harder-to-get-off parts of our outfits right into my shadow storage.
***
"That definitely wasn't vigilant…" I said breathlessly as the two of us floated in a tangle of limbs. I glanced at the shadow showing the ship, and sighed in relief that nothing had changed while we had been distracted.
"I'll say…" Lydia giggled as she buried her face in the crook of my neck, snuggling closer. "Though I have to admit… the benefits of being free from gravity's influence should not be understated." I could only laugh at that. Floating weightlessly had certainly allowed for some interesting and pleasurable positions. We'll definitely have to try it again.
After our exercise, we dressed lightly before I retrieved our lunch from storage. We each enjoyed a sandwich featuring fried meat and crisp vegetables, all tied together with a tangy sauce. We washed it down with a fruit juice we had stolen from the headquarters kitchen. After our meal, we spent a few more hours alternating between word and card games, using a set of playing cards I had kept in my storage. That all changed when we began wagering clothing to increase the stakes, and we ended up falling asleep in a warm embrace.
"Alright! No more of that!" Lydia said pointedly after we had woken up and donned our full armor once again. "The blockade will be coming into view any moment now, so let's get ready." The crew of the submerged ship echoed her words as they moved around frantically, preparing for battle.
My girlfriend took my hand and reformed the barriers over our bodies. The previous ones had fallen apart during our previous activities. Once they were in place, we waited another half hour while watching through the shadows before the Yamadian ships came into view.
"All personnel to their stations! We will win the battle for the glory of the Empire!" The captain of the ship, a robust-looking woman in her mid-thirties, rallied her crew as they chroused a rousing response.
"Are we sure we don't want to stop this?" I asked worriedly. "I'm sure the two of us could stop this ship in its tracks." At my words, Lydia shook her head slowly.
"No… My brother isn't entirely wrong about this, even if I don't like it. A turtle will only fight back once its shell is cracked." Her expression turned melancholic, and I squeezed her hand gently. She recovered a little and gave me a small smile. "But that's why we're here, to save as many as we can."
"Right." I nodded with determination, and it wasn't long before the captain barked orders to begin the attack. Lydia quickly made us invisible, and I made us appear on top of the ship before sweeping my girlfriend into my arms and jumping away. The water hardened beneath my feet as we left the immediate danger zone, and we watched with baited breath for what would happen. The imperial ship was well within the Yamadian's cannon range, but it seemed they had yet to notice the enemy. Being submerged will really give them the upper hand.
Suddenly, a loud bang echoed across the open water, and a thick rod of metal was shot straight into the air from the battleship. The action confused me at first, because while the large projectile was blazing with crimson fire magic, it didn't seem targeted at anything. That was until a burst of wind magic corrected its course and leveled it at the nearest Yamadian vessel, sending it straight through the wooden ship's hull and exploding with enough destructive power to rip the ship in two. I gasped as shards of wood rained down upon the sea, and launched us to the wreckage as the other vessels rang warning bells and the peaceful air of only moments before filled with panicked shouts.
"Damn it!" I gritted my teeth as I stood on the water and extended my senses out. Lydia did the same from my arms, and we used our magics in sync to discreetly save everyone we could. I primarily used my water to push driftwood towards the survivors. At the same time, Lydia utilized her teleportation barriers to heal anyone severely injured by channeling her holy magic through them, even from a distance.
The defenders quickly located the source of the attacks, a testament to their skill as seafarers, but it wouldn't matter. More explosions rang out as the battleship sank the Yamadian ships one after another with ease. The nearby ships couldn't angle their powerful cannons low enough to return fire, so the crews resorted to personal magic, which proved to be fruitless, as our guess was proven correct. The magic attacks bounced harmlessly off the exposed metal; only those with physical force behind them, such as earth magic, barely left a scratch. The warships further away managed to find a better angle with their artillery, but the distance mixed with the small margin for error meant only a few cannonballs hit their mark. While that proved more effective, the metal still only dented.
"It's a massacre…" Lydia said in horror as the two of us flitted about the battle, doing our best to keep the casualties low. "I never imagined one ship could do so much damage…" Her voice trembled with grief at the many lives we couldn't save. Whether it was from the initial explosion or the injuries afterward, countless bodies were floating in the water. A quick prod of our holy magic confirmed they had already left this world. Even if we are divine guardians, we're still only two people!
Within an hour, more than a dozen ships lay destroyed at the bottom of the ocean. The silver lining was that the imperial boat didn't seem interested in checking for survivors, most likely assuming they would die from exposure anyway.
"I've had enough." I heard the chilling voice from my arms and looked down, even though I couldn't see her. The battleship had altered its course to follow the retreating Yamadians, and the ships in the rear were already falling. "This should be more than enough to convince Yamada. I will not let any more die. Take us back to the ship, Audrey." I did as I was told, because I wanted this to end as well. A minute later, we were in the shadows once again. "Show me the entire ship."
I opened countless shadow windows into the various rooms of the ship, and what we found made my blood boil. The imperials were celebrating. From the captain, who was clapping her officers on the back as they ruthlessly chased down their fleeing enemies, to the chefs in the kitchen who seemed to be preparing a lavish feast for their victory. There wasn't a single flicker of remorse among anyone aboard the battleship. The worst were the people manning the weapons responsible for launching those metal rods. Men and women sat in chairs, competing with one another to see who would destroy more ships.
"Yamada will fall, and the sun will rise on a brand new era!"
"That's my third one! I'll be claiming the top prize today!"
"Yamadian scum! What fools for believing they could escape our emperor's divine judgement!" Lydia and I floated in silence, listening in on all sorts of horrid statements, before she gestured for me to close the shadows.
"Disgusting, all of them." Lydia spat venom from my arms. "Take us outside, we're ending this." I didn't even wait for the invisibility, because I knew she had no intention of hiding this time. We appeared from the shadows on top of the metal vessel, and I launched us up onto a golden barrier that floated well above the water. With a glance, I knew what my girlfriend wanted, and I raised my hands. A ball of water carved itself from the ocean, and I lifted it into the air with a bit of effort, revealing the battleship inside. I left the back end exposed to the air, guessing that was where its propulsion came from, and I was proven correct as the ship stopped moving.
The large glass windows of the command room were right in front of us, and we glared through them right at the captain whose eyes were so wide, I thought they'd fall from their sockets.
Heat flared around us, and I looked over to see golden flames embracing Lydia's body, her hair seemingly melting into liquid fire. Her emerald eyes shone solid gold now, and I sensed the power inside her flare. Seeing her mouth open, I quickly connected our shadows to the ships, letting our voices ring through the entire vessel.
"Followers of Xenis, you have earned the ire of the divine." Lydia's voice was infused with so much power that multiple people inside the ship collapsed to their knees. The mention of their war god also seemed to affect them in some way, though I wasn't sure how much the average person would even know about that. Still, I followed my girlfriend's lead and called upon as much stella as I could manage, which was to say, much more than Lydia could. A literal shockwave exploded from me, startling even my partner for a moment as I spoke after her.
"We, the divine guardians of the primordial day and night, have borne witness to your crulety… Your satisfaction in others' suffering. You will be punished." I couldn't help but compare myself to the night I had first lost control, after the attempt on Lydia's life. It feels like so long ago… Now, it wasn't just my voice that rang with power, but Lydia's as well, and neither of us at risk of losing control. I even noticed the locks of red hair at the edges of my vision had shifted to a dark violet, mimicking the night sky with tiny points of light that swirled across the strands. Shadows swirled around me and danced with Lydia's golden flames as my eyes shone a brilliant silver.
"P-Please spare me!" The captain of the ship begged pathetically, prostrating herself inside the ship. "T-They made me do this! Take everyone else, but please spare me! I'll tell you everything I know!" The display made both me and Lydia frown with disgust.
"Silence!" My girlfriend roared. "We have been observing from the very beginning! Your words will not deceive us!" When it became apparent her ploy would not work, the captain shot to her feet with a click of her tongue and barked orders.
"Kill them! It must be some sort of trick! They are nothing more than little girls! Fire all the cannons!" A beat passed as Lydia and I merely waited for the attack, the crew in charge of weapons not moving until a second enraged shout from the captain got them moving. Then, a dozen explosions rang out as metal rods were shot free of the ball of water, the wind magic directing them right toward us.

Leah
I watched from high above, following the ship until the battle started. As long as I didn't expend more mana than necessary, I could stay airborne nearly indefinitely, and as long as I didn't sleep too deeply, could even rest. I had long lost sight of my ladies, but I knew they were either invisible or hiding within the shadows until we drew nearer to the blockade, so I wasn't worried.
Once the fighting started, I began to notice the subtle shifts against the ocean's current that had to be Audrey's magic, and many of the Yamadians pulled themselves onto driftwood with fewer injuries than I'd expect from such an attack. The battleship's weapon was unprecedented and ruthlessly efficient, and I shuddered at the thought of a whole fleet of vessels.
I gritted my teeth, watching from high above as I was unable to assist my ladies in their efforts. My wind magic would be helpful in many ways, but I ran the risk of being attacked by either side if I were spotted, so all I could do was wait for it to end. However, something suddenly changed. The battleship had laid waste to at least a dozen Yamadian warships, and was now chasing down the fleeing remnants when I sensed a burst of mana, and the water around the ship seemed to separate itself from the rest of the ocean. The bubble floated into the air, capturing the enemy ship, and that was when I saw my ladies standing on a golden platform before it.
My lady Lydia was the first to speak, and her voice boomed with celestial power as she was engulfed in beautiful golden flames and light. Even I could hear and see her clearly from my high vantage point, and it sent a shudder down my spine. My little sister has grown so strong… So beautiful. Then, the shockwave of power from my lady Audrey hit me; I thought I would want to run, but their overwhelming power oddly calmed me. It was the first time I'd witnessed my lady Audrey's changed appearance as well, and it was no less magnificent than my lady Lydia's. Maybe it was because it wasn't directed my way, or because I knew without a doubt they would never hurt me, but I was sure it contrasted with what the imperial savages were feeling right now. Either way, my ladies had made this decision, and it was my job as their attendant to support them, even from afar.
As I observed, a moment of silence fell, and then my ladies spoke, followed by a series of explosions as a dozen hateful metal projectiles arced toward them. My protective instincts overtook me, despite knowing my ladies outclassed me in every way, and I flew toward them. I knew it was pointless, I'd never make it, and those girls were more than capable of protecting themselves. Still, my mind flashed to those nightmares I'd have before we were reunited… I still had them even now. I will not let anyone hurt them ever again!
In the end, I just felt like a fool as golden barriers and shadows intercepted the attack, and the rods disappeared, then reappeared as they flew out from different angles right into the ship that launched them. Judging from the lesser amount that hit the exterior and the explosion, I assumed more than a few had been transported inside the battleship itself.
The explosion rocked the area, shattering the water bubble and dropping nothing but charred remains of steel and wood into the ocean. Despite the force, my ladies stood unflinchingly as they watched the end of the imperial battleship. It was an overwhelming display of strength, and the Yamadians who had been close enough to witness it were all on their knees aboard their ships, reverently facing the two divine guardians who floated above them.
My ladies' power slowly receded until they were back to their regular appearances, and a path of golden light led them to the deck of the nearest warship. I flew down to join them and couldn't stop myself from pulling them into a tight hug as all the adrenaline disappeared.
"We're alright, Leah." My lady Lydia said with a calming smile.
"We couldn't take it anymore… Those people were just so cruel!" My lady Audrey added. All I could do was laugh softly at their words, relief flooding me that neither had been hurt. When I finally freed them of my embrace, my lady Lydia asked to speak with the captain of the Yamadian ship.
"Take us to your Daimyo." Her words were curt, but the captain only nodded and rushed to get the ship moving again. Then she turned to me. "Leah, go inform my brothers of the change of plan. Audrey and I will be going to Yamada to request their aid."
"Of course, my lady," I said with a bow, then bit my lip. "What if they refuse?"
"Then we will simply make them see reason." Her eyes were cold, and I shivered under her gaze. I bowed once more, then took off toward the resistance forces.
