FWOOOOM!!!!!
A mini-fleet made of fifteen ships appeared in the capital of the hundredth-ranked civilization without even trying to hide their arrival, as they came through the connection from the VR tower. Although many, if not all, of those in the top ten and some of the top twenty civilizations had destroyed them, those in the lower-level civilizations didn't have enough firepower to overwhelm the shields in a single period of time. This resulted in them just sending a fleet to surround it in preparation for imperial avatars coming through, which they had been spared of as the avatars were concentrated on the top and random lower-level civilizations, which excluded them.
The mini-fleet found itself standing face to face with the fleet outside the shield, which had immediately moved in and locked on them, waiting for the moment they left the shield's protection to douse them with firepower and make sure they were destroyed before they arrived at their targeted destination.
However, the imperial mini-fleet didn't seem that worried as they started heading towards the shield boundary in front of the eyes of everyone. Without stopping, they just went through the one-way free movement shield. The moment the front ship's nose exited the shield, it acted as the starting gun as firepower converged upon it, making it nearly impossible to see the ship. But the rain of fire didn't act as a deterrent to the other ships as they too continued with their movements. To the surprise of everyone, the ship that should have exploded from the amount of damage it received just continued moving as all of their firepower went through it and hit the shield. These ships had the same tech as Shadari missiles: the ability to phase through things.
This came as a surprise to everyone watching. Although they had guessed the empire had digested the tech, its use on ships was the least expected use, as the requirements to make a ship capable of doing that were more expensive than building a new fleet. It needed to ensure the people inside were safe as well, which was very difficult to do for those other than Shadari soldiers, as the vibration required to make a human or any other species have things go through them without being harmed was something that was impossible for many species to survive. That's why it was limited to only torpedoes for other civilizations most of the time.
Unfortunately, they weren't aware that there was no human inside, and the mini-fleet was not planning to stop and tell them that as it accelerated and went through the ships standing in front of them, dispersing and heading to different locations on the capital planet.
The defense fleets continued firing at them, uncaring of the bullets going through them and heading towards the planet, as the damage that would be caused by them would be a thimble compared to what the mini-fleet was going to do. For all they cared, the fleet could be carrying the same bomb the Conclave tried to use on the Nymari capital but spectacularly failed, as that was not something they would think the empire would not do, as it would be considered the perfect response. Unfortunately, the empire had a more targeted plan than rudimentary attacks like those.
…………………………
It is said that the Earth's atmospheric mass is about one-millionth of its total mass, and although that might seem very little, it still equals 5.15 x 10^18 kilos, with most of the mass being within the first eleven kilometers starting from sea level. Pre-empire, a physicist had once theorized that if a four-kilometer-radius area of the atmosphere was lifted and dropped, it could release energy comparable to a large nuclear weapon, around 6 megatons of TNT equivalent.
The empire had deemed this means of attack to be the best response to what the Conclave had started, which imperial citizens now dubbed as the war fought using humanity's horror imaginary inventions brought to life. All of the ships within the mini-fleet were heading to a specific target to implement this response.
One of the ships from the mini-fleet was heading towards the planet's largest military base, not bothering to even shield itself from the firepower that was being directed towards it.
The moment it arrived, the ship came to a stop a kilometer above the base, right at its center. It immediately activated two shields, with one of them remaining with the ship while the second one turned passive as it lowered itself towards the base's ground. The second one rose with the ship as it increased its altitude to ten kilometers before the ship came to a full stop.
If seen from the outside with all-seeing eyes, you would see the outer shield like a massive bowl, with the second shield now lying flat ten meters above the ground amidst the constant firing of weaponry, despite nothing they fired working. The shield on the ground didn't remain there for long, as it started rising together with the air that was within it. The higher it rose, a vacuum started spreading as the outer shield acted as a seal, shielding the outside atmosphere from the inside.
The people inside the now-vacuum started having their bodies boil while at the same time, the gases inside them started an explosive decompression as there was no atmosphere on the outside to keep equilibrium with the air inside. Their mouths and noses started freezing as a result of evaporative cooling, making their deaths very gruesome to see, but very fast, to the point that they barely felt any pain before they died.
The damage wasn't contained to humans, as the buildings suffered the same experience since the air inside them was now rushing outside, breaking mirrors, water pipes, and sewage.
Everything that had liquid started boiling, causing the buildings to suffer structural damage, which continued as the shield kept rising, not caring about whatever was happening to those under it. The lifted part of the atmosphere inside the outer shield was now being forcefully compressed the more the vacuum below it expanded.
Once it had risen five kilometers above the ground, having the air that initially filled the eleven-kilometer space compressed into half the area with a vacuum on the other side, the inner shield was immediately turned to passive, allowing the compressed air to finally fill the vacuum as it rushed towards the ground at supersonic speed, gaining an enormous amount of inertia as it fell.
When it arrived at the ground, it caused an enormous explosion, releasing all of the accumulated energy into a devastating blast, as if a meteor had hit the ground. A large amount of heat was released, vitrifying the entire ground as the aftermath continued through repeated shockwaves, which ensured everything inside the shield was fully destroyed as if it were repeatedly hit by a nuke, before the shield gradually released the pressure after some time had passed.
The same happened to all of the important government infrastructures that were related to the fighting forces, leaving the fleet that had chased them momentarily stunned at what was happening in front of their eyes, as these seemed like weapons from nightmares.
