The cross-world teleportation technology of the Spirit Desert Civilization is something called the Eye of the Storm.
These eyes of the storm look like an endless tornado, swirling with countless black sands.
Through the appearance, Richard could see that the essence of this storm was the same as a wizard's teleportation gate. Both create spatial singularities to entangle, thus opening a passage between two worlds.
However, compared to the wizard's technology, the sand spirits' technology is somewhat behind.
Richard and Sha Mantian arrived at the Eye of the Storm, although he could travel the Endless Dimension, the sand spirits were unwilling to reveal the coordinates of their home world before the alliance was formed.
So, Richard could only take the cross-domain passage, traveling world by world.
Entering the storm's interior, the anticipated sand striking did not occur—the sands were merely projections of the inner layer curtain, having no effect on the surface layer curtain.
The strong wind howled in Richard's ears, and the sound seemed distant, like it came from another world.
In the wind's sweep, Richard felt his surroundings suddenly begin to spin, and a suction suddenly enveloped his body, as if he were inside a straw being strongly inhaled by someone with an astonishing lung capacity on the other end.
Buzz!
A buzzing sound rang in Richard's ears.
This was not Richard's tinnitus, but the energy around him had resonated.
In the next moment, Richard, like a pearl in bubble tea, found himself in a pitch-black passage.
However, that suction didn't disappear. It wrapped around Richard, swiftly pushing him toward the other end of the passage.
"What's this? A boost?"
Richard asked Sha Mantian beside him.
Sha Mantian, appearing as a creature with a wolf head and a human body, smiled as he replied to Richard's inquiry, "Yes, a boost.
Ordinary sand spirits need to take a ship when entering the Eye of the Storm. The propulsion systems of these ships can easily damage the passage structure, so our alchemists added suction as auxiliary power to allow these ships to fly within the passage without using propulsion devices."
Richard nodded slightly and replied, "Once you join the Wizard Alliance, this kind of propulsion won't be needed. Our cross-world navigation method is quite similar in principle to yours."
"Really? That's great."
The sand spirits' home world isn't the center of the Spirit Desert Civilization, its location is actually closer to the edge of the World Community.
In the past, this location slowed the expansion of the Spirit Desert Civilization. But in this wartime, it actually made the civilization's core much safer.
Following the route planned by the Sand Spirit Emperor, Richard passed through six worlds before reaching the sand spirits' home world.
Along the way, Richard witnessed the appearance of many worlds under the Spirit Desert Civilization's governance.
The giant dragons built one grand city after another on the earth out of metal, and these cities, called dragon nests, were like swarms of birds.
Outside the dragon nests, the sand spirits would use massive amounts of earth elements to transform the world's surface, making it look like an earth element imbalance world.
However, the sand spirits would build numerous nature reserves underground to protect the unique creatures and landscapes of this world.
These reserves faithfully recreated the surface's landscape, with climates and temperatures identical to the surface.
Even Richard had to admit, the sand spirits' nature reserve technology was indeed superb, able to reconstruct an above-ground world underground.
If this technology could be promoted and evolved, altering climatic environments would no longer be a difficult task.
Even those element imbalance worlds might be rectified.
After spending nearly half a year, Richard finally arrived at the Sand Spirit Great World.
"Wow, you've actually transformed the entire great world!"
Stepping out of the Eye of the Storm, Richard looked at the vast endless sea of sand around him, a hint of surprise crossing his face.
"No, it's just the Eye of the Storm is in our territory," Sha Mantian replied. "The dragon's territory hasn't been transformed; there are still many aspects of past worlds there."
"Oh? Then why didn't we see any dragons along the way?" Richard asked curiously.
"Because the route we took passed entirely through the Sand Spirit Emperor's territory. If you were in the dragon's territory, you would find there's often only a tiny bit of the original desert," Sha Mantian explained.
Saying this, Sha Mantian flew up into the sky.
"Fly east from here, and you'll enter the Prophet Desert."
Richard, coming to his side, asked in surprise, "You're not coming with me?"
"It's the sage who invited you, not me," Sha Mantian replied in surprise. "If I go and the sage doesn't appear, what then?"
Richard was speechless; he hadn't expected the sand spirits to trust him, an outsider, so much, allowing him to go to a holy place without worry.
They're not even afraid he might cause some trouble.
Following the direction pointed out by Sha Mantian, within just a few minutes, Richard saw a grand black pyramid.
This black pyramid seemed unremarkable, much like the tomb pyramids of the sand spirits, only much larger.
But if you look closely, you'll notice that the pyramid is covered with ancient runes and patterns.
Under the attraction of these runes and patterns, the entire black pyramid is shrouded by a power of mystery. Countless curse creatures were summoned, then bound and fused by the pyramid, ultimately transforming into an indescribable monster.
For weaker creatures with better spirits, just a glance at the pyramid would drive them insane.
Even a World Master, upon perceiving the pyramid's truth, would fall into a state of mental chaos.
"Such a grand setup?"
Richard raised an eyebrow, then landed in front of the black pyramid.
On the walls of the Pyramid, there is a disproportionately small entrance compared to the size of the Pyramid—this is the corridor through which bodies are sent in and out.
Usually, this passage only has people coming out. But today, it is a passage welcoming guests.
In the Spiritual sight, the twisted Pyramid emits a silent roar, and that corridor leading into the Pyramid transforms into a deep maw amidst its roars.
The maw is filled with sharp teeth and overgrown with tentacles, embedded with countless bodies of Curse Creatures.
However, it is the only way to enter the Pyramid.
"A test?"
Richard's expression remains unchanged, as he takes out his Miracle Secret Book from his pocket.
In the next instant, a rebuke resounds like a thunderclap, spreading instantly across the entire desert.
"Get out of the way!"
Buzz!
The Holy Light on Richard is boundless, his rebuke like a divine sword, instantly cleaving the maw of the Pyramid open. Then, flames burning with Runes ignite at the wound, reducing all Curse Creatures to mere fuel before these flames.
Of course, all this is a contest of the Power of Mystery.
If Richard were still a Spiritual Insulator, he would see nothing and be entirely unaffected at this moment.
Richard enters the corridor, with flames burning beside him, continually incinerating the attacking Curse Creatures to nothingness.
The intangible entity emits continuous silent roars, casting countless frightful Curses as if they cost nothing, all to kill Richard.
But unfortunately, these curses are all stopped before the Holy Light, becoming one of the impurities purified by it.
Richard strides through the corridor.
Behind him is an endless expanse of Holy Light and the silent wails of the monsters.
The end of the corridor is a crypt, which at this moment has been turned into a reception room.
In the center of the hall, a huge Balance is swaying from side to side. On either side of the Balance, two Sand Spirits with dog heads and human bodies are continuously adding and removing jet-black weights.
"Greetings, wise one of the Sand Spirits."
Richard slightly bows towards the Balance.
Appearances are illusory to beings at the level of Dominator, though it seems that the two Sand Spirits with dog heads and human bodies are the wise ones.
Yet Richard immediately discerns that the true wise one is actually this Balance, which resembles an artifact.
"You have finally arrived."
A strange voice emanates from the Balance, as if many people are speaking in unison.
"The Curse Wizard was correct, you are a creature with great potential."
Richard smiles faintly; indeed, the wise one of the Sand Spirits wants to see him because of some agreement with the Curse Crown.
"It seems the Curse Crown had some dealings with you."
"Correct. He made a deal with me before he departed."
The Sand Spirits on either side of the Balance look at Richard, seemingly representing the Balance looking at him.
"He asked me to give you something."
As he spoke, a Sand Spirit inserted its hand into its chest, then withdrew a gray, hazy robe.
"This is the Hermit's Robe, a result of a trade we made with a Dominator from a different civilization while searching for that item.
Wear it, and its effect is simple—any divination or curse will fail."
Richard's heart is moved, any divination or curse will fail, doesn't this mean that, once he wears this robe, the Civilization Devourer can no longer track him?
Don't look at him now using Anti-divination magic to shroud the Civilization Devourer's vision, but if the Civilization Devourer's injuries recover somewhat, who knows how long Richard's minor Anti-divination magic can hold out.
And this Hermit's Robe is a treasure prepared for him by the Curse Crown and many prophets from this World Community.
"Then what is the cost?" Richard asked softly, "I believe the Curse Crown didn't pay a price."
"Indeed, however, the price you have to pay is not with me." the Balance spoke, "You are the Chosen One, the only creature who can kill that monster.
So you bear the survival hopes of all civilizations in the entire World Community.
You need to gather them, unite them, and form an Alliance to counter that monster.
However... you are far more wise than the Curse Wizard imagined. You have already started forming an Alliance, instead of waiting for our messenger to find you."
As they spoke, the Sand Spirit beside the Balance presented the Hermit's Robe to Richard with both hands.
Richard reached out to touch it, and at the moment of touching the robe, he suddenly shivered.
"What's on this robe?" Richard asked the Balance.
"A misfortune."
"Misfortune?" Richard asked, somewhat puzzled.
The Balance slowly spoke: "To become the owner of this robe, you must pass its test.
And its test is a misfortune.
However, rest assured, if you truly are the Chosen One, this misfortune will not take your life."
