Chapter 55: Humans Disappearance

Noor stared at Jane in silence as he listened to her story about what had happened in the strange battle between Ivanov and the unknown cloaked figure with special abilities.

Jane said, her voice tense from recalling all these events,

"Night had fallen, and visibility was poor, but I heard the sound of gunfire, so I went to the source to see what was happening. I saw two people fighting from a distance, but the night hid their features. The rubble filled the place, so I didn't see much. All I saw was that there was an energy sword held by the cloaked person, and this sword helped me to see, even if only a little. The other person was not visible at all; I could barely see him. He was completely covered in darkness, but I noticed his immense physical strength. He was throwing cars and rubble at the cloaked person, and after a few moments, I knew it was Ivanov when I saw his metallic body."

Noor interrupted her, astonished.

"Ivanov and cars?"

"Yes, that's what I saw. He was throwing many things, like rocks and also cars. But the cloaked one was extremely agile and dodged them all with grace. He also threw some rocks back at him, but his power seemed... I don't know how to explain it to you. I didn't see what was happening very well, but I can say it resembled Sairi's ability. He would point with his hand, and the rock would move toward the other."

Noor was silent for a moment, analyzing what he had heard. After a few seconds, he broke the silence.

"It seems he uses some form of energy, but I cannot determine which type."

Jane nodded in agreement with what he said, then said,

"It seems that's what actually happened. But what happened next is what truly terrified me."

Noor listened with interest and astonishment to the story Jane told, how the strange beings had kidnapped the cloaked figure and Ivanov, then put them in a strange-looking vehicle that Jane did not recognize. Then this vehicle flew into the sky and disappeared over the horizon. If Jane hadn't been hiding and watching the situation from a distance, she would have been caught too and thrown into that strange vehicle with them.

"When did all this happen?" Noor asked, feeling a shiver in his body from the cold air.

"Yesterday," Jane replied quickly.

Noor said, thinking,

"I came out of the tower a few hours ago and saw the cloaked figure. Do you think he managed to escape from them and met me in the forest and saved my life, or is this someone else?"

Jane was silent for a moment, connecting the events. Then she said with confusion and despair,

"Maybe, I really don't know! But it could happen! Or maybe they were forced to join the robots and are now carrying out their orders to capture us, or..."

Noor interrupted her.

"We now know that Ivanov is alive, and I have met you. And maybe the cloaked figure is Sairi, who knows! But he is supposed to have come out too. And it's impossible that he would fight with Ivanov because they were of together in the death race. This leads us to conclude that this cloaked figure probably has a power similar to Sairi's. The second thing is that the rest of our comrades are alive somewhere. We must look for them now and join them, maybe we will find a way out of here and understand what is happening. And maybe we can rescue Ivanov."

A look of hope appeared on Jane's face.

"Do you think they will join us and help us get out of here?"

Noor's face lit up.

"Maybe, and maybe one of them knows the truth! Now I know what we have to do. We will go look for the rest of our comrades, and then we will try to find out what happened here."

Jane replied with enthusiasm tinged with sarcasm, her features relaxed.

"Yes, let's do this. Saving the world doesn't come every day."

Noor laughed.

"We don't know what happened to the world yet. All we know is that the machines have taken over this unknown city, and we were held in strange towers for a period of time we can't estimate, and we have retrograde amnesia."

Jane sighed. "Yes, I don't remember at all how I ended up here. My memory is fuzzy, but many memories have come back to me over time, because I woke up a week ago, unlike you."

"That's good. It means you know a lot about yourself now. And that will happen to me too with time. Now, let's get moving, we don't have all day."

Jane nodded in agreement. They packed their belongings, went down the stairs, and headed outside.

The sun was high in the sky, casting its rays on the ground like golden threads adorning a silk robe. The roads were empty, carefully paved, and had not been touched by any damage or harm yet. The towering skyscrapers rose majestically to the sky, adorned with blue glass that covered all their angles. The sun's rays fell on them, making them shine like precious jewels.

Despite the progress they had reached in the future, Noor felt that this unknown city he was in looked like a city from the twenty-first century. The architecture of the buildings and the cars looked older than he remembered, despite his weak memory. He looked at the sky and noticed the energy dome that covered the city and contained it within. He asked Jane about it.

"I don't know," she said.

"I noticed it too. But it seems it's to repel enemies from the city, but somehow the enemies got in and wreaked havoc, and humans disappeared or moved to another city. Maybe this explains the somewhat old architecture of the city, perhaps due to a lack of resources from the outside. I don't really understand, but it looks older than what I've seen before."

Noor was amazed by everything that was happening. Everything seemed like a big, complex, and intertwined puzzle in a way that he had never been seen before. He took refuge in silence and continued on his way, examining the city.

The cars were lined up on both sides of the road, feeling lonely in this ghost town, waiting for someone to start them so they could move freely again in the beautiful city. But something is hiding and watching.
