Chapter 182: A Monster Feelings

Yousef looked at Jasto, who stood bewildered, watching Yousef's form change and seeing his tears. He said:

"What did you do? I don't understand anything. Are these tears of fear of death? Don't worry, I won't kill you until I've tortured you severely."

Jasto laughed hysterically, but was surprised by Yousef's response:

"You are a monster, Jasto, and your existence will lead to much suffering, death, and pain. But I will tell you something no one has ever told you before. I am sorry. Sorry for what you went through in your childhood. They made a monster out of you, and had they shown you mercy, you might have become a kind man who helps those around him and tries to mend the evils in the universe instead of widening the rift as you are doing now."

Jasto shouted with rage and disgust, "I do not await your apology or your pity, you lowly creature. I am a commander of the Franks and a pride of the Zurix. I expect pity from no one. And I do not care about the past, for it is gone, and the present is now in my grasp."

Yousef tried to wipe away his tears and said, "But you do not know the secret of your brutality. You were too young to realize what happened to you. I am capable of curing almost any disease. And capable of stealing your genes and your power."

Jasto's eyes widened as he understood what had happened. Yousef had stolen his power and his genes, thus becoming as strong as him—nay, stronger, for a large part of Jasto's body had been shattered, whereas Yousef now possessed the same strength Jasto had before this battle.

Yousef's crystal body gleamed in the light of the rising dawn sun, and he realized the power of Jasto's eyes after acquiring them. His eyes processed movement and images rapidly, weaving a silhouette of the location the enemy would move to based on their current trajectory. Jasto attacks the silhouette because that is where the enemy is headed.

Yousef inhaled the breeze, though the scent of burnt crops stung his nose, then said, "I have healed your nervous system, Jasto. I healed the atrophied part of your brain that blocked you from feeling compassion for those around you, or feeling the pain people feel. I healed the part that made you a monster, and now you feel what all people feel: fear, sadness, joy, and regret. In short, you now feel as we all do. You are now a child experiencing his emotions for the first time. But you are a child who has committed many evils."

Jasto looked at him with mockery and contempt, placing his hand over his heart. "I feel nothing. Emotions are for the weak. I was born with a great gift that brought me to where I am."

Suddenly, Jasto felt a torrent of mixed emotions coursing through him. He began to see his buried memories flashing rapidly. He placed his hand on his head, fell to his knees, and removed his helmet, letting his soft green hair fly. Yousef saw his face contorted in pain, and he began to scream in agony, as if he had received thousands of psychological shocks at once. He began to feel every moment of his life. Every moment where he had felt nothing, he was now feeling as if living it anew.

He remembered his father who discarded him and the farmer who was cruel to him. But he also remembered the tender mother who tried to make it up to him, yet he had mistreated and abandoned her. Tears began to stream from his eyes, and he wiped them away, saying:

"What is this? What have you done to me? Stop this immediately."

Akira, lying on the ground, said, "Watch out, Yousef. He might try to kill you, thinking that if he kills you, these painful feelings will stop."

Jasto began to scream like a madman, striking the ground, then hitting his head and pounding his chest, trying to stop this flood of memories and emotions. Tears continued to stream profusely from his eyes, releasing something akin to endorphins in the human body, which alleviated the physical and emotional pain that had suddenly overwhelmed him.

Jasto stood, forcing his body upright, and said, "Damn you, you wretch. This is all your fault. You have made me defective. Emotions are for the weak. Emotions weaken a person and infect them with the disease of hesitation. I was born special and different from everyone. Give me back that distinction. I cannot live like this. You have broken me, you loathsome creature. You have torn me to shreds. These corpses... these dead people... they... Stop this immediately. Change me back."

Jasto charged toward Yousef, who braced himself in a defensive stance. Jasto pounced on him, unleashing a barrage of punches. Yousef dodged and blocked with his solid crystalline body, then gathered heat in his fist and punched Jasto in the chest, knocking him back.

They began exchanging successive punches and kicks; Yousef would land a hit, and Jasto would return it twofold. Then Jasto gathered heat in his foot, aiming a thermal kick at him. Yousef blocked it, but it exploded against him, pushing him backward. He backflipped and stood up again, only to find Jasto leaping at him, gathering immense thermal energy in his fist.

Yousef gathered intense heat in his fist as well and met the blow. The two fists clashed, and a massive explosion rang out, pushing both of them back.

Then the injured Jasto, his vision blurred by tears, began randomly firing thermal blasts from his hand toward Yousef. Yousef countered by firing successive thermal beams that collided with Jasto's. Jasto began to scream and fire his beams wildly, but his vision was obscured.

Yousef moved away and directed his beams at him. Jasto ran, but Yousef predicted every path he would take and surprised him with explosions that burned parts of his body and knocked him to the ground.

Yousef continued firing rays at him, saying:

"I cannot let you live, Jasto. The consequences of leaving you alive are too great, and it could cause our entire mission to fail. Furthermore, you killed thousands and burned hundreds of children and villages. Even if you have begun to feel now, that will not redeem you. I only wanted to make you feel regret before you die for everyone you brutally killed."
